Wheaton World Wide Moving Reviews

★★☆☆☆
First let me say that the driver Brian and his crew were great. They packed a few things they were supposed to leave out but I had an overall good experience. The salesman Michael was professional and returned communication timely. The issue came with the office manager Angela Botranger. First, I was not supposed to be charged until delivery, they charged me the day after pick up. Second, I got a not to exceed estimate that included packing 1 TV and to pack 7 mattresses in mattress bags. They did not pack the TV and the mattresses were simply wrapped in plastic, no bags or boxes. When I got charged it was above the not to exceed that included this. I asked to have the items taken off that were not done but she has refused to refund me the amount. I have moved three times with Wheaton over the last 7 years and this will be our last due to the unprofessional behavior by one person. I am sure that this review will fall on deaf ears but I caution anyone moving in the Indy area, go elsewhere.

Paid for packing and full insurance...they destroyed most of my families shoes, clothes, and several other items. Didn't send an adjuster til over a month later...offered a portion of the value as a settlement. I will now have to sue them. Horrible customer service....no one takes any responsibility. Pics are a sampling of their "INSURED Chicago friends ...Boyer-Rosene in Arlington Heights is the most unethical agent in the moving business. Sell you on zero deductible insurance and packing service, then don’t pay when claim is filed. Tell you it is corporate insurance in Indiana. Cause you to go to court to sue for the claim.... then never show. TOTAL SCAM.

This was a military move so we had no choice in the moving company that was chosen for us. On day 1 when the packers were supposed to arrive by 8 am, they were late. At 9 am we started calling the office and were told they had car trouble and would arrive by 9:20am. Then at 10am they still aren’t there so we called again and were told something about going to pick up other employees and they would be there by noon. At 12:30, still no one was there. We called again, were told this time they went to another job and they would be there by two p.m. at 2:30 we still didn’t have anyone at our house to start packing our house, we called the company and were told some song and dance about how we would have two crews of 8 people there tomorrow morning by 8am. At 5 pm, two cars of random people wearing wife beaters and random t-shirts arrived asking if they could drop off boxes in my garage. They had no company logo, no uniform, no ppe during covid, made up some excuses about a day from hell and asked to walk through my house while I was trying to feed my children dinner. They left, them came back to retrieve the boxes because evidently they heard from their boss who removed them from our job. The next morning five (not eight people as promised) showed up to pack our house at 10:15. We were ready for them at 8am. One didn’t have his own mask so we provided him with one. One also was not wearing a company t-shirt. Two of the older gentleman worked their butts off the entire day and knew exactly what they were doing. Two of the younger guys left without saying a word to the other crew and didn’t finish the work they were supposed to be doing. The following morning (Thursday) was moving day. The truck arrived around 9:30 and the crew got immediately to work and worked their butts off. Very hard workers. But what I don’t understand is why the manager in the office is now saying our items won’t be delivered until Saturday. Something about the amount of hours the workers have worked. Ummmm... not for us... seriously the packers were only at OUR house for less than 6 hours and the movers won’t be here for that long either. Our items should be delivered Friday morning for all the inconvenience and unprofessional this company exhibited and put us through!

★★★★★
The entire experience was exactly what we were promised. No salesmanship but rather promise and deliver. This included packing, loading and delivery / unloading at the other side of the country. You could tell all individuals had been thru the drill many times over. The staff of both carrier and local franchise were there for questions during what would normally be a very stressful time.

★★★★★
We had an exceptionally good experience with this company from the beginning to the end. The representative who did the estimate was thorough and knowledgeable. His estimate was accurate. Everything happened as planned. The people who did the packing and moving were hard working and careful. The driver was excellent. He was in charge of things and kept us informed. In the whole move, which was cross country, only one item was broken. The company reimbursed us for the full price of the item. I highly recommend Wheaton Moving. They are experienced professionals.

It took over 3 weeks to get my belongings. I hired them to move me from Denver to California, my belongings apparently sat in storage in Denver for 18 days before the driver even picked them up, which was 3 days after the delivery window ended. The office is unresponsive and difficult to work with. They're unorganized and the fact that my move used 3 subcontractors did not help, no one appeared to know what was happening. I would DEFINITELY not recommend them.

Lost items and damaged our furniture! The movers were extremely careless with our boxes and items. Even the ones that said "FRAGILE"on it were simply placed in the middle of heavy items and placed upside down in our apartment right in front of our eyes! We have moved over a month ago and HAVE YET TO FIND A LOST BOX which they claim to be searching for but it could be anywhere from a storage place to another customer's home. So now, our hardly earned and personal items are who knows in whose hands. This isn't our first move, we have moved across the country a couple times before and this is by far the worse and most expensive experience. We used them because they were recommended by someone but couldn't regret it more. They picked it up on time and delivered on time but at the cost of losing and damaging items that cannot be replaced!

★★★★★
I had a wonderful experience using Wheaton. I had a long distance move from Chicago to Baltimore and they exceeded my expectations. They moved my belongings out of a storage unit and communicated with me the entire time. All of my items were accounted for and in perfect condition and I only had to wait a few days for drop off!

We used Wheaton to move our precious possessions including antiques and furniture and fragile items from New Jersey to Florida. The staff packed furniture, rugs, and artwork with care. They were informative and reassuring. When arriving in Florida they took the time to assure all items had been checked off by me on the packing list and unwrapped furniture and placed them in the designated rooms with care watching to not scratch entry ways or walls. When we unpacked our many boxes nothing was damaged! All furniture arrived intact without a scratch. I now am going to use them once again as I have New Jersey items still in storage that will be going to family in California and Illinois. Having moved in the past from NY to Chicago and Chicago to New Jersey they were the best movers and best experience I ever had!

BEWARE! THEY RUINED OVER $4,000 WORTH OF FURNITURE! Looks at the photos of my 1yr old mattress, it looks like an operating table. It's DISGUSTING! I've been trying to get these items replaced for 3 weeks, but they only offered to settle for $138.00. (Their default policy is 60 cents per pound if you don't opt into insurance, which wasn't explained). So they accept responsibility for the damage, but they don't make it right. In addition, the response from TOM SMITH (See photo) is appalling. He should be ashamed. They did not perform the advertised and agreed upon services when I paid them nearly $5,000 for white-glove service. This is FRAUD & GROSS NEGLIGENCE. SPECIFICS I hired their subsidiary, Bekins, for an interstate move that included packing, wrapping furniture for protection, and storing it for 2 weeks before delivery while I waited to get possession of my new home. They did NOT wrap several pieces of furniture and my mattress as advertised and agreed upon. In addition, they did NOT place my items in safe storage for 2 weeks as paid for, instead letting them ride around in a truck for 2 weeks while other deliveries were made. The furniture and mattress arrived wet, stained, and damaged. It took 3 weeks to get an insulting settlement offer.

Wheaton World Wide Moving was assigned to our move by Bekins Moving Solutions. In summary, our home goods were more than 2 weeks late, arrived damaged, and I was luckily able to watch the inept movers damage more than 4 pieces of large furniture while it was being moved into our home (including having 2 legs broken completely off of a large office desk and dropping a sofa on our wood floors). Wheatons World Wide Moving was unable to find a driver to bring our goods to us for more than a week, and provided no communication at all until we started calling their office every 30 minutes during the day. This was after our contract date was breached by more than a week. The verbiage that they used during our phone conversations made it seem like it was our fault that they couldn't find a driver for 2 weeks, got a flat tire in the desert, and had clumsy people moving our furniture out of their truck and into our home. I wish that Yelp had a 0 star review; Wheaton World Wide Moving would be deserving of it. If you value your time, money, and sanity never use this company for moving an entire homes worth of furniture and boxes, let alone a single spoon. Find someone else regardless of how much more expensive they are. On top of all this, the movers DID NOT WEAR MASKS IN OUR HOME OR WHEN AROUND OTHER PEOPLE. THIS IS BY FAR THE WORST PART OF THIS ENTIRE EXPERIENCE. This will be sent to the BBB and any other local place of authority that I can find. In this day and age any company not forcing their employees to wear masks doesn't deserve to be in business. This company and their claims department is a joke; I'm sure that a small claims court will be able to handle our issues in a better manner.

There isn't a low enough rating to assign to the type of service Wheaton Worldwide and Bekins Solutions provided to us for our move from PA to CA. Their communication was poor, our truck was delayed, and our boxes were in terrible condition when received. Luckily, we had very little damage to our boxed goods - our china and crystal were in perfect condition, but our furniture had many scratches and dents. I would not recommend this company.

This was my second time using Wheaton and it was another great experience. The quality of their drivers is top notch. Both of my moves were cross country. They do a great job packaging and securing your belongings. I appreciate the high quality of the drivers rigs and air ride trailers. The drivers and help have always been well organized.

★☆☆☆☆
Terrible customer service. They lost my items and decline to do anything about it. They unloaded my stuff in a storage unit. Their driver brought only two people for unloading the truck (which they loaded with 4 people), and the people he hired seem didn't know much about what to do. They hire random third parties for loading and unloading. The driver gave me a copy of the paper to mark the number as the people he hired started to unload the truck. I was supposed to count the items and mark on the paper to see if there was a missing item as they unloaded the truck. However, the people he hired were simply dumping everything randomly without stacking and organizing in the storage unit. There was no way they would fit things into the unit. Out of frustration, I gave up marking the numbers and counting and started working with them as if I am a worker by organizing everything into the storage unit so we could fit. In the end, I simply marked everything on the paper as received because I didn’t want to argue with the driver and I was so tired and exhausted and angry. After a month, I finally moved my stuff from the storage unit when I find a house. As we unpack things and settled down, we realized three missing items (a luggage, desk, and bed rails). I opened a claim and told them what happened. A few weeks later, they found the luggage from the descriptions I gave them and shipped it to me. Then, I received a settlement letter indicating that they declined to do anything about the other two items. They don't accept liability because I signed the paperwork. They simply ignored the fact about how they handled the unloading. I think this is horrible customer service. I would never ever use them again.

Towne Services did an outstanding job on our move from downtown San Antonio. The moving crew arrived on time and were very professional throughout the entire day. All of our items arrived safely to their destination. Prior to the move, Doug did a great job of quickly getting us a quote and answering all of our questions. He followed up afterwards as well to ensure everything went as expected. A pleasure to work with. Thanks!

We used a local agent of Wheaton, T & A Relocation Services, located in Brewster, NY Furniture that they disassembled was not reassembled. Some furniture was damaged. Heavy boxes were put on the wrong floors contrary to being clearly labeled where they were to go. The contract terms were for a NY agent (T & A Relocation Services) to load our goods for transport by Wheaton with the unloading to be handled by a local Wheaton affiliate (Manassas Transfer Inc.) at our VA destination. The NY agent did not abide by the terms of the contract and sent the crew that loaded our goods in NY as drivers for the 7 hour trip, to serve as the unloading crew in VA and then to finally drive back to NY for the return 7 hour trip- all on the same day. The crew rushed through the delivery in order to get back on the road. If we had known that this was the intent of T & A, we never would have engaged them. T & A was called the next day to request the local agent to come and finish the furniture re-assembly and the moving of the heavy boxes to the labelled rooms of the house. They refused.

Will not use them again, and will not refer them to anyone else after my experience! Best thing was the sales person coming on site to do a proper estimate. I thought this was excellent customer service, but after that it was all down hill when working with Wheaton's customer representatives. The day before the pick-up i get a rushed phone call and email from the sales person asking for additional monies as he didn't originally recognize the driver wouldn't be able to pull his rig into the parking area. Nothing in the area had changed, but he put the blame on the city for changing up the traffic patterns. This was a non-sense attempt to gain more money for the load, as nothing had changed from the day he gave the original estimate to the day of pick up. Never-the-less with time constraints the extra money for a shuttle, had to be added. Come moving day, the moving team (contractors) arrived and was some of the hardest working individuals I had ever seen. They were quick and efficient with the move. They were supposed to pack our box springs, mattresses, and tv's in boxes to protect them, but weren't given the materials to do so. They were quick on getting everything out and had to take it back to their truck that was located at the warehouse. The pickup date was on a Friday, with delivery being any day the following week. Come Monday i take off of work to go and help unload, when the driver gets there and tells me he wasn't able to bring the full load. Why is it the driver is telling me this, and not their customer service? Driver told me his weight was over? I asked how when Federal limits are 80,000 lbs for moving trucks... Never did get an answer, and never have gotten an answer from Wheaton. Instead i got an email saying my stuff weighted more than expected, with emails also saying we would be given a rebate as the overall load was less than expected. Which one is it Wheaton?! So now, i'm wondering where in the world is my stuff at, and Wheaton representatives in Ladson are not taking my calls. Finally the representative in Indianapolis returned my phone call to tell me this was the first she was hearing of it. Why isn't there any importance put on communication within the company, yet alone to the customers? So TWO WEEKS go by, before they are able to get another driver arranged to pick up the load on a Friday and deliver it to us the next week... And it turns out i find out on a Monday the driver didn't pick up the load. What in the world is going on here? So the administrative lady finally gets another truck in the area planned to pick it up that week on a Thursday with delivery scheduled for that Saturday. The driver gets there to pick it up, almost 3 weeks after it was supposed to had already been delivered, and the Mattresses and Box Springs are still just laying out in a dirty warehouse without being packaged. This is insane! My mattresses came back dirty/dusty, my box springs the same. He has them package them at the warehouse before he picks them up and makes the drive. When the driver gets to his delivery, it was one of the hardest working people I have ever met. Amazing work ethic and extremely polite and professional! Wheaton's best characteristic about their work is their Pick-Up and Delivery contractors. Nicest, ethical, and hardest working people. I believe their sales staff could certainly learn a thing or two. After this whole experience or inexperience from the sales personnel and the missed loads, When/If my wife and I ever decide to move again, we will NOT be hiring a Wheaton Company.
