Veteran Movers NYC Reviews

★★★★★
The moving team from Veterans moving was fabulous! Robert, Jamie and Shocka..... Thank You, Thank You! We worked with a tight schedule and condo buildings hours, and they hustled and made it happen! Not one item was broken, and everything showed up on the destination end in good shape. My concierge from the 'move out' building said it was the best coordinated team he's ever seen in that building.... HIRE THEM if you're moving in or around NYC!

I've had a great experience with Veteran Movers. They were really friendly and the customer service is top notch. After a brief initial phone call, I had a free in-person inspection to account for all my items for the move. They gave me a good quote, mentioning that they're able to be more competitive with cheaper companies for cross-country moves like mine. Even though another company was a few hundred bucks cheaper, I went with Veteran because unlike the competitors, they don't subcontract: it's all handled by Veteran Movers and/or Roadway (who owns Veteran). The customer service rep who did the inspection became my point person, helping me with contract questions and letting me update my list of items through the morning of my move. The movers themselves were similarly great: they were really careful about wrapping all my furniture, and dealt with my big cumbersome art pieces with aplomb. The movers were also incredibly fast--way quicker than any move I've had before, but I guess that's what happens when you have a flat rate instead of hourly.

Overall very pleased with the service. They did a great job wrapping all furniture for protection and the movers were very friendly and professional.

My move with Veteran Movers was honestly amazing. They seamlessly moved me from the east coast all the way to California with no issues, and even arrived earlier than expected (WHICH IS AWESOME). I highly recommend using them!

Getting a quote: I reached out to about 10 different moving companies. Most of them never bothered to get back to me. Scott from Veteran called and left me a pleasant and professional voicemail. I called him back; and this was the beginning of my great experience. He clearly and plainly walked through everything step-by-step. No haggling, no hidden nonsense. Just professional, friendly, patient service. In a world of crappy customer service, I was so pleased with the clear and consistent and honest communication. Here's the thing; the quote was 1/2 what everyone else was quoting me. It also was an 'all-in' quote. It didn't include hidden charges or hourly fees that would wind up mounting up on me. That's a huge plus. Setting up the move: I gave them an approximate list of my items, and they said that if things changed to just shoot them a note and let them know. I asked if I was over by a certain amount if it would impact the cost. It wouldn't! If it was a huge difference, then maybe. Again, that de-stressed things. Most people don't have a good sense of everything they have. Pro-tip that they told me, some days of the week and days of the month are less costly than others. The move out: Howard G, James B, and Shakur E called me when they were on their way, and they arrived promptly. James led the team and explained every single step they would take that day and walked through all of it patiently. He walked through all the belongings with me and looked them all over and checked against his list. Introduced each of the members of the team that would be working with me that day. We talked a bit. I liked them. They then patiently and carefully carried everything out. They wrapped all my furniture. Asked questions whenever they needed to about a given item they were going to wrap. The move in: I moved to a 3rd floor walkup. They marched each and every item carefully up the steps and into the new place. It was a sight to be seen. When we ran into a problem with the couch. I found the PDF instructions of it and they carefully disassembled it and brought it in. Wasn't a thought in their mind. Just did it. I had an item that didn't fit properly and they even wrapped it back up for me and brought it back out so that I could take care of it. The end result: Not a single item of mine was chipped, damaged, broken, or mishandled. I expected to have damage. Not because I thought they weren't careful, but because that always happens when moving. To my utter shock; not a single thing. Not a single break. Nothing. They accomplished something only a crew of military veterans who care could do; a flawless execution. A few thoughts: This company was purchased by Roadway. I hope that Roadway doesn't mess with them. They're doing it right. Don't break a good thing. Keep hiring veterans. Keep letting them do a great job. The discipline and skill sets match up well and it inspires confidence. ... thank you for your service 🙂

Update: Ross and his team contacted me after my Yelp post to help remedy my credit card issue. Shout out to Chakira and Danielle for consistently following up and ensuring the problem was taken care of! As I mentioned in my previous review, I had some trouble getting a hold of customer service to update my credit card on file. I had asked in advance not to charge the card on file and was told that I would be able to swap it out before the final charge went through. Unfortunately, the wrong card was used to pay the total amount. Not only did Chakira and Danielle help me update my credit card payment, but they even credited back my deposit for the inconvenience. They followed up with me almost daily to give me updates. I wasn't expecting to hear from them after the move, and I truly appreciate their response to my previously negative experience. It's nice to know that there are companies out there that really prioritize the customer experience.

Let me just say do not call anyone else these guys are the real deal! Professional, EFFICIENT, so careful with all of your belongings. Everything was wrapped in heavy moving blankets , cardboard and more plastic. Raul and his team were amazing and it was no easy task! Thank you Veteran movers!

Veteran Movers did an amazing job with our move from Brooklyn to Connecticut. They were prompt, communicative, super safe and professional, and delivered everything to our new home in perfect condition. Cleveland, our point person, was wonderful and immensely helpful at every step of the process. Would definitely highly recommend it, especially if you want total peace of mind while moving in the pandemic.

We moved from a Queens apartment to upstate New York. and Franklin and his crew did a fantastic job! They carefully wrapped and unwrapped all our furniture so nothing was damaged, and put everything in its proper place. Moving in NYC is a challenge, especially today during the pandemic. The crew from Veterans Movers was patient, careful, and masked. I am especially grateful how well they cleaned up on both ends. No plastic or cardboard for me to dispose of afterwards. Thanks Franklin!

Veteran Movers NYC reached out to me with a resolution to pay for the original cost of the table. I very much appreciate the response after my review. I wish all of this could have been dealt with in a more timely manner but I suppose these things happen.

I usually don't write reviews but I feel like I need to. I came across this company whilst looking for companies to move our 2 bedroom apartment to a house a mile away in Brooklyn. I was truly excited to hire them to be able to support such a great group of heroes. I spoke with Benjamin who made me even more excited. He was so kind and easy to talk to whilst talking about the move. He set me up for a zoom chat with Danny to see everything we needed to move, but it wouldn't be another 3 days. I was hesitant because we were needing to book someone before everyone was booked up for the end of the month, when our move was. But because of the incredible customer service on Benjamin's end, I was willing to wait. I carved out time to zoom chat with Danny, who was also kind and informative. That is when the pleasantly ended. When I received a quote a few minutes after the zoom chat, I was quoted $2491.76 for my 2 bedroom move, 1 mile away. I understand that we have 2 couches and we are on the 3rd floor, but come on. The move would be to a house where I explained they could drop everything in the entry way since it will be being renovated anyway. I had called around to a few other 5 star companies prior to seeing their quote and other companies quotes ranged from $936 to $1600. But $2491.76, I was shocked and so am so disappointed that I couldn't use this company who I had already given so much time and energy to. Maybe in the future, learning someone's moving budget would be a better step to prevent such disappointment and waste of time.

I have to say the movers were friendly and helpful but so many of my items were broken or scratched. Two of my favorite tables had a scratch and five pieces of pottery were broken. Every time I called the customer service could not answer my questions and my boxes looked like they were thrown around. Both the people who packed and unpacked were hard working but I was overall disappointed. They called me on the day of the move and tried to increase the price despite multiple calls prior to getting an accurate assessment with the sales woman. I have not written a review before but I suggest proceeding with caution and taking your valuables separately. Also please know they took the full time window for this move from NYC to Florida so prepare for a few nights on a blow up mattress.

Not the same company they used to be. I've moved with these guys for 4 previous moves and everything was great. Literally the same apartment contents each time and a reasonable process and price. I just presented them the same inventory and quote (same email) from 12 months ago from a move from the UES to Brooklyn now for a ~5 block away elevator to elevator move and they offered up a quote of 3X the amount for the last move. We literally asked for the same people for the quote by name and they couldn't be bothered to get back to us. Price gougers during covid because the moving market is hot now. People will remember what you guys have done. Extremely disappointing. Would not recommend it!
