I am bi-coastal and use moving companies frequently to move furniture and electronics from NYC to LA and sometimes to a winter home. I decided to use Pricing Van Lines purely on the basis of the Google reviews. after my experience and much following research I am now positive that the majority of these reviews are fabricated and this company is a bait-and-switch broker. I hired Pricing Van Lines to broker a move of office furniture from NYC to LA. A man named William Baggett (aka "Rockwell" for some reason) helped me itemize and plan the move. I was very specific about my needs: disassemble and move an office from a 4th floor apartment to a duplex in LA and reassemble. I have all of this in writing. However, Pricing Van Lines is not a mover. They are a broker. They hired New York City Movers to pack up my stuff. Apparently they didn't pay NYCM for the stairs so NYCM held my furniture hostage AFTER taking half of it until I vemoed them $750 for the stairs. Fine. Another $750. Whatever. They did a nice job disassembling things and packing them. Flash forward to LA. It took over a month for my things to arrive and while it was way past their estimates, I suppose it's not unreasonable. However, the company who they hired was actually a single man named Peter. Peter has a truck but he decided he doesn't want to use his truck, he wants to deliver with a van. Peter charged me $400 because he needs the van. He then charged $250 because he refused to park in our driveway. Like... what? He could have parked an 18 wheeler outside or even taken the van into the driveway but he purposefully parked farther away to charge extra. Ok. Whatever. Another $1400 on top of the original $3k+ agreement. It's awful but I can stomach that. Here's where it gets ridiculous: 80% of my stuff didn't arrive. HALF of my desk, my computer, HALF of a chair, my shoes, monitor stands, speakers, and more. All told, over $10k of missing items. And here's the kicker: of the things that did arrive Mr. Peter refused to re-assemble them. Why? He "doesn't do that." Even though it's in the contract. I called Pricing Van Lines and asked them and they said yes he has to honor the agreement. Ok great! But did they contact him? No. Peter left me with half of my stuff in a pile in the living room. I told Pricing Van Lines about all of this and again they did NOTHING. After some sleuthing ON MY OWN I was able to track down some of my stuff. I had to buy some new parts, speakers, and commissioned a carpenter to build the missing parts of my desk. I decided to attempt to charge back the credit card payment to Pricing Van Lines because that would at least cover some of my expenses, but Chase refused on the grounds that someone had signed the delivery document. I tried to explain that that IS NOT my signature and I refused to sign for an incomplete delivery, here we are. I'm generally a passive consumer who will just pay whatever I'm told, but this experience goes beyond. Way beyond. Somehow, there's NO ACCOUNTABILITY for Pricing Van Lines and my only recourse is an angry review. So here it is. I wish this wasn't the case but I have to implore you not to use Pricing Van Lines and in fact I implore you to never use a broker for a move. Use a single company that does everything. Mayflower, Allied, I don't care who. At least then you are dealing with one company. If you have to use a broker, just use anyone but Pricing Van Lines. And do a deep dive of the google reviews. It's sad how easy it is to fake when you can pay a Click Farm to generate hundreds of glowing reviews. I wish you the best with your move.”

Even after we finalized the inventory, with a new price of $5800, the price has continuously risen and is now $7200. They contracted another company, American Pacific, to perform our move. Their movers showed up with a full truck and I had to wait five hours onsite for them to get a different truck, while pregnant, in 114 degree weather, with no ability to leave to get food or water. The furniture was picked up on 9/6/20. It is 10/20/20 and we still have not received our furniture! Despite many attempts to reach them via emails and calls, Pricing Van Lines has not responded. They took our money, and have abandoned their responsibilities. We have been trying to work with the company they contracted out, but that company has told us they contract independent contractors to deliver the furniture, and they have no idea when they’ll be able to get our stuff to us because it depends on whether or not the independent contractors want to take the route. Our furniture hasn’t even left CA!! The company they contracted is now telling us they can send our furniture via freight, on pallets, for contactless delivery, meaning they drop the pallets in the driveway and we lift, carry and reassemble everything ourselves, and we’d have to pay the remaining $2600 balance before they would ship it. We’ve already paid $4600+ for full service moving! Proving Van Lines will not respond to us, has completely breached the contract and is a total scam! We are now engaging law enforcement and federal authorities.”

I used this company, they are brokers. They quoted low then raised the price. Your deposit is their cut, so once they get that you are pretty much done with them. You then deal with whoever they sub-contracted the work out to. The subcontractors will re-evaluate your items/check it to the paper work pricing van lines provided them. And yes pricing van lines will under calculate the cubic ft of your items, thus when the truck arrives a whole new negotiation occurs. The contract carriers did great at pick and delivery but still had damaged items, i gather may have occurred at the transfer point or storage. FYI most moving companies operate this way. The big ones just charge a bit more. Would I use them again yes, but i would ask more detailed questions. My first quote was around 5,800 and ended up paying 9,600 for an 820-850 mile move. So if they all operate the same I would go cheap but expect to pay close to double the original quote. The big moving companies first quotes were from 11k to 12,700 for same move.”

When I told him it was not in line with out budget or other estimates (it was about 50% higher than the average), he became patronizing and talked down to me in an insulting way. I unsubscribed from PVL communications after that, and my requests were not honored. I responded to the emails stating that I was not interested in working with PVL and would like to be removed from their communications.
