100% would recommend booking with Old City Movers. I really never write reviews but these guys did such an outstanding job I think it's only fair for me to do my part in uplifting their business. This was my first time hiring a moving service and it was 100% worth it. It would've been impossible without professionals. Reason to hire Old City Movers: 1. They are extremely responsive to emails and communicate well overall. Throughout the multiple times communicating with them over the past couple of months, they always emailed me back within a couple of hours and certainly within the same business day, and they always had the answers to my questions. The day before the move, they called to confirm the move as promised and answered questions I had. In the morning, they called to tell me they were about 30 minutes away and again when they arrived. 2. They know what they're doing and what it takes to move into or out of a place in Philly (think setting up parking permits, being intimately aware of the streets and the best places to park, maneuvering narrow stairways.) 3. They are priced extremely reasonably and deliver on their quote. I was moving to Philly from an hour away but they only charged me the hour of travel and didn't rack up more charges for distance. Because my new apartment is split between the 3rd and 4th floor, I was charged the 4th floor walk-up price, which was only $10/hr more than the usual rate of $135/hr. They now offer a 5% discount if you pay in cash. They also did not go above the quote estimated (despite the fact that I underestimated how much stuff I would have when I requested the quote). Which leads me to my next point 4. They work HARD. It must have been 95+ degrees out yesterday. They arrived on time, and began to hustle. Don't get me wrong, these guys are in incredibly good shape, but this stuff is INTENSIVE labor, carrying heavy box after box and large pieces of furniture up and down several flights of stairs. They took their time when they needed to in order to be safe and take care of my things, but they did a job that I would've had to do with 10 friends and taken twice as long (and probably would've damaged things and not been able to get my couch in my apartment). Their quick work despite extreme exhaustion saved me a lot of money. 5. They are efficient and know how to take care of your things. I guess this should go without being said if you're hiring a mover, but I can attest that it is true for Old City Movers. They also helped us out when some of our boxes fell apart. Tips for moving: 1. Tape up your boxes like crazy (wrap all around the box not just the top). 2. Disassemble everything before they get there and save yourself lots of $$$ 3. Put as much into boxes as possible 4. Have cold water and maybe Gatorade/powerade for the movers. Having substantial snacks is also a good idea and something I should've had more of (they are after all exerting a lot of energy over several hours). 5. Tip your movers. Don't be a jerk.”

Three movers showed up exactly when they said they would - Matt, Reno and Travis. Boy are these guys efficient and solution oriented. We used OCM's full service packing and moving this year to move our stuff to the storage for home repairs and moving them back after repair. They were professional, punctual and easy to work with. However, they either forgot or did not put on the shipping bolts on our washer and unfortunately damaged our new washer (purchased in 2015) completely. When we told them about it and asked if their insurance would cover the damage, they simply did not engage us. It is frustrating, since we hired a insured and bonded mover so as to cover any damages during the move and this was a pretty substantial damage and one would hope they would cover some of the costs to either repair it or part of the replacement costs. I would neither recommend nor use them again.”

I just moved apartments within the city last weekend and my experience with Old City Movers (Specifically Johnny, Reno, and Scotty) was awesome. The quote they initially gave me was accurate and I ended up paying exactly what they quoted me. Altogether, the move took about 2.75 hours and was by far the smoothest move I've ever made with movers. I was the second scheduled move of the day and was nervous when I got a call on the day of my move that due to some circumstances with the first move, my initially scheduled movers could no longer move me. However, Johnny called me and was able to fit me in within a few hours and move me on my originally scheduled day. I give them 5 stars, even with the initial hold up because they were that good. Would actually prefer to give zero stars but Google does not give that option. Picked this mover because of the good reviews but now I am wondering if they are legit or just friends. My experience was quite different. They arrived on time and were polite and courteous. This was considered a small move, not many pieces of furniture and very short distance. I questioned the movers as they did not "wrap" the pieces before moving them. They stated that they would wrap them before putting them in the truck. This is the third move with these pieces and were in perfect condition BEFORE this move. As the items were still being moved in, I was given a document to sign and pay. I asked for the bed to be centered in bedroom but apparently the movers were in a rush to get out of there. Once I saw the bed was not centered, went out the door to grab them to come back and they were almost jogging to the truck. Once back in apartment and setting up and cleaning, now I realized why they left so fast before I had a chance to look at anything. Three items damaged. See attached photos: one is bottom of dresser where they dragged it and a piece of the laminate peeled away. Small and not that noticeable. The other two, sorry guys, inexcusable. The top of the TV table was scratched and they must have dropped the armrest piece of the leather couch because it was destroyed. I emailed Jeremy and he has gone radio silent. He made no attempt to contact me and try to make this right. Sorry guys but beware!!!! If you like your furniture, use a different mover. Price was low but at what cost, I have two pieces of furniture ruined.”
