I was given the same rate ($85/hr) as last time, which is by far the best rate available, especially for the quality of work they performed. For this move I had "Frank the Great" and "Javier the Suave" from NorthStar and they were beyond fantastic. They were scheduled to arrive between 8-10am and they called me around 7:30am to say that they would be there by 8am. They actually arrived early which was great. Frank and Javier walked me through their process and the costs, and then quickly started moving my items. The storage unit elevator was slow, so they made the best use of their time by loading the elevator completely before taking things down to the truck. This definitely saved me some money/time and helped the move be as efficient as possible. All of my things were safely moved to the new unit in ~3 hours, which was quite fast for a 2-person team. My items included the following: bed, bedframe, desk, dresser, nightstand, TV, couch, boxes of clothes, and boxes of other miscellaneous items. To get to my new apartment, they had to carry everything up a flight of steps, and they had no issues with this extra obstacle. When they brought everything into the apartment, they left it in an organized manner and placed items in the appropriate rooms (i.e. bedframe and dresser in bedroom). They also offered to assemble the bed, desk, etc. Frank and Javier were great to work with. They were on time, clean-shaven, very friendly, honest, and straightforward. They performed their work very professionally and I always felt that they were taking great care of my things. I would highly recommend Frank and Javier from NorthStar to perform any moving tasks. They are from the Chatsworth NorthStar location.”

My family recently Moved across the city and with NorthStar it was a breeze. Moving is never easy and quite stressful but Robert, Alex, and Matt made our transition simple. They were able to move our entire 3 bedroom condo in one day and reassemble all the furniture! If I could give them 4.5 stars I would. As much as I enjoyed Jimmy, Jose, and Alfredo (they're very friendly, and efficient), I'm still finding some broken and missing pieces. I do think that there's a natural amount of collateral damage when you move, and I'll attribute it to that. They straight up broke a shelf in an antique cabinet and weren't going to give me the broken pieces back. I was actually asking them about another missing piece when they produced the broken shelf. They also lost a caster from my office chair, and damaged my brand new carpet in one small area. Having said that, I'd use them again. They worked very fast, wrapped everything, and had plenty of wardrobe boxes available. They moved some very heavy pieces without complaint. The mistakes were just moving mishaps, I believe their intentions were good. Their prices are very competitive. The woman I spoke to when I booked the job was very nice and informative.”

I used NorthStar in May to move from one location to the other. Since I was moving out of just a bedroom, I had only a couple of pieces of furniture, 2 TVs and mostly boxes. The movers, Nacho & Juan, were very nice and showed up on time. My two TVs seemed to be securely packaged by them. When we arrived at my new place, the guys unwrapped my TVs and left them in the spot I had asked. I didn't plug the TVs in to check. Once I paid and they left, I went to go set up one of the TV's in my bedroom and found that it was broken. I emailed NorthStar immediately and sent them (Brenda Clark & Jason Gonzales) a picture and asked what were the steps into filing a claim. I didn't get an answer. I emailed AGAIN one week later, still no answer. It's been almost two months since I've moved and have never heard from them again. All I really wanted is a response and a fix. It's about principle at this point.”

I hate having to give a bad review for small local companies but these guys really took advantage of me and for that I can't sit back and not share. Two major issues. We are in the middle of a pandemic and I have a new born. Two weeks before our move I called several places to confirm being able to handle ALL paper work electronically beforehand, these guys made me feel so good they could handle it. That day we got 2 docs, signed and sent back. They called to confirm the day before and said they still needed a signature, the girl also said their computer system was old and they can't open attachments and just to take a pic and send the pic? Really, seems strange considering they said they could manage electronic signatures beforehand. They then sent after 9pm at night the night before our 8am move. The doc was a mess and our printer was packed and already at our new house and we had not choice to meet the movers to sign off to start the move. I called and expressed how disappointed I was and the girl was nice and apologized but that was it really. It gets worse. We were adamant about no contact which meant this 3 man crew was in our house to load and unload on their own and we had to go off the honor system on the time they took. We had moved ALL boxes and only hired them to move was "the heavy stuff" from our 1 BEDROOM apt. Here is what we needed moved - 1 couch, 1 king size bed and mattress, 1 medium size dressers, 1 coffee table, 1 desk, 1 tv stand, 1 tv, 1 kitchen table, 4 dining chairs, 1 small light weight cabinet, 1 recliner and 2 mirrors. That's it!! 13 items with a 3 man crew and get this... It took them 7.5 HOURS to complete! The homes are 30 minutes from one another so I wasn't drive time either. And of course we weren't in either house to confirm timeline and work ethic so had no choice but to completely blindly trust this. Bottom line - these guys completely took advantage of me and Covid-19 to make money. Update: Wendy was absolutely wonderful in making things right for me!”
