Experience was awful. Charges were 1.5 times the estimate and it took 34 days for our stuff to arrive, 18 days after the end of the delivery window in the contract. On top of that, they told us on Sept 3rd our stuff was on the way with an arrival date of 9/13. On 9/10 they admitted our stuff had not actually left Missoula and was still in their warehouse. They gave us a price for packing everything. We asked what happened if we did some of the packing. We went to work, packing all our books and clothes...somewhere north of 30 small boxes that we purchased. No savings to be seen anywhere.”

Montana Transfer was responsible for examining my contents and estimating the weight and cost to move my belongings. I asked to have a representative come to the house to examine my possessions. I even suggested that he lift several of the trunks that contained tools to make sure his estimate was correct. When he gave me an estimate, I asked how I could be assured that it was correct. He said that he had been in the business for years and that he'd never been off by more than 10%. The estimate was approximately $8,000. When they called to get my credit card info. prior to delivery in Oregon, MT Transfer asked for over $12,000! I was told they would not delivery my belongings until I paid the entire bill. Needless to say, I will NOT recommend MT Transfer to anyone!”

I would have given 5 stars, but the crew that was loaded me didn’t show the first day, then worked very slow the next day, which pushed us into a third day. When I talked to the GM and mentioned I'd confirmed with them just the day before he yelled "you need to lose the attitude" and then hung up on me. I called back and he hung up again. When I spoke to the owner's wife about this, she said "well, he must just be having a tough day." I'm stunned by this experience. Worst business, worst client service. Do not hire Montana Transfer. The movers that Montana Transfer and North American Van Lines brokered to move me showed up to my house five days later than the agreed upon date window. I was not made aware of this until the first scheduled day that I was supposed to be moved. The day of the move, the driver showed up 5 hours late. I spent an hour on the phone with Shannon in North American's Customer Service department. Although she was polite and understanding, she could not help us. Communication, performance, and professionalism exhibited by Montana Transfer was poor. We will likely be filing a formalized claim against North American for the delay hardship we endured, directly resulting from MT Transfer's incompetence. The $200 rebate offered as compensation for the delays incurred is not acceptable.”

This company is aweful. The guy who comes out for the estimate is very nice and explains how they love personalized service. But that’s where it ends- empty talk. You can’t get anyone to return calls. Poor communication about when the truck will arrive, load and be at destination. We had more things broken or damaged than in any other move in 30 years! Find someone else unless you like added aggravations and stress when moving!”
