I contacted MBM and they apparently subcontract with American Van Lines. The move was on time, but the movers that were sent were rushing toward the end and damaged my floors and stair railing. They seemed annoyed that I brought it up. After they left, I found a couple of items that were delivered were also damaged. I recommended avoiding this service, but if you must use them then thoroughly check behind them.”

I was moving a small amount of valuable items across the country. This moving company won the contract through American Van Lines (the company we hired). The moving men seemed nice enough, polite, and timely enough - but they damaged an antique buffet that is not replaceable. They also damaged a tool box - the driver took pictures of all of those and told me he'd start the claim. He did not. The company refused to even acknowledge damage to the tool box - they said it wasn't noted (obviously the pictures weren't shared as promised by the delivery driver). In regard to the damaged antique, they offered a paltry $130 for the damage. In addition, they refused any remediation for a lost box (Each box had a sticker when the items left South Carolina - when they arrived in Nevada, at our home, someone had moved a sticker so now there were two stickers on one box - there turned out to be a box missing - and the company says they have no responsibility for that. Really? Then why bother with the list and the stickers if they have no meaning?). I'm very disappointed and urge you to use a different moving company.”

I moved 5 hours across the state with MBM/American Van Lines. I had a great experience unlike some of the other reviews! The quote was reasonable and based on weight, not hours, and the moving coordinator was very friendly. The movers loaded my things one day and delivered them the next. They were also very friendly and thorough in protecting my items. Each item was labeled and inventoried at my old home and then checked off as it was brought into my new home. I would use their services again.”

Buyer beware. MBM Moving Systems will carelessly damage your property during the move & they will not honor the full valuation protection coverage. I paid for full valuation protection for my move & MBM is not honoring it & is not fairly valuing the items in my claim. MBM consistently undervalues the items & even rejected items even though the movers caused all of the damages, yelled, insulted, intimated me & refused to document the damages in their paperwork. MBM rejected some items claiming they were packed by owner. There were absolutely no items packed by owner. The movers were fully responsible for all packing so that all items had full replacement valuation protection coverage. MBM can't use their failure to properly execute & provide these services as an excuse to not honor my claims. The movers refused to document the damage in their paperwork & they were dishonest & verbally abusive. The movers yelled, cursed, threatened & intentionally intimidated me EVERY time I pointed out damage they caused & they refused to document the damage. The driver & Mr. Moran told me the delivery sign off did not matter & that I had 9 months to examine items for damage & make a claim. During pack & load the crew damaged some items & deceptively hid & threw the items away in the garbage without informing me. During pack & load many of my brand-new packing supplies and boxes were stolen by the movers & used as packing material for the move without my permission. During unloading the crew was deceptive & intentionally hid damaged items while unloading the truck. Delivery documents were all signed under duress. I had no choice but to sign since the movers refused to add the damaged items to the documents. You have been warned. Find another mover because you will absolutely regret doing any business with this company.”

I just relocated to Greensboro and had my things in a private storage until I could find an apartment. I called American Van Lines based on the reviews at consumeraffairs.com. I have only used long distance movers before, but because of just moving here, I don't know anyone that could help me move, so I called and they fit me in with only 3 days notice. They sent 2 men. Once we got to my apartment, the first thing they did was put down floor protection! My long distance movers never did that. They put my bed back together, reassembled my kitchen table and reattached my mirror to my dresser. There are not enough words to say how outstanding these 2 guys are!. Mike Dorsett was the driver and Ricky was the helper. They treated me like I was a VIP even though it was only a 1 bedroom apartment. They were very respectful, efficient, CLEAN, and fast. I will never use any other movers. (My lease is only 6 months)”
