Jake and Jose (or in this case Jake and his brother Francis) were the first moving company I’ve ever hired. I was moving from Iowa to Minnesota by myself and they made my move exponentially easier. They were cheaper than all the alternatives, friendly, and extremely helpful with moving small and large items alike. They packed my entire 1-bedroom apartment (on the second floor with no elevator) in less than 2 hours and unpacked it in similar time in my new third-floor apartment (which had wonky parking, required passage through two key fobs doors, and involved long walks). Even in nonideal circumstances Jake and Francis persevered and had great attitudes the entire time. I did a local move with these guys and had some good points but also some bad points. When I initially called to schedule for a Saturday, they stated it would start in the morning. Perfect, that's what I wanted. I also told them I had a gun safe and gave them exact weight and was told that it wouldn't be an issue. They called three days before our move and said 3 guys would be moving us at 9am Saturday. Great. Friday night I get a text message that they won't start until 12:30-1pm. Obviously, when moving that's a big deal. Also, I was told it would only be 2 guys instead of 3. So not only would it start later it would take longer. Great. I will say that when the two guys got here, they worked very hard. Very few breaks and no complaints. We moved everything to the new house, gun safe included. However, they didn't feel comfortable moving the safe downstairs with two guys so they asked if they could come back with a 3rd guy in a day or two. Fine with me. I paid them the full amount and gave them their tips. With the money in hand, they had no reason to come back and move the safe. I got a text a few days later saying they weren't coming back and wouldn't pay for another company to move it and I had to figure it out myself. Real professional. It wasn't a big deal as I moved it with two other guys in about 5 minutes, so it's not like it was about safety or anything. They told me they usually charge extra to move safes but I was never told that when booking or when they showed up or when they moved it. I was an idiot to pay them in full, and they took full advantage of my mistake. In summary, I showed up later and with less guys than promised, worked hard but did not finish the move.”
