This was the first time I used a moving company, the first time I moved long distance and I am so skeptical to use any other company in the future because of the awful experience I had. I wasn’t going to post a review, but after speaking to the manager and how unsympathetic they were made me change my mind. I was extremely nice on the phone and simply explained how upset I was about the whole situation. Maybe I just did not get good movers, because the reviews online were glowing and I had 3 people recommend Few Moves to me. My movers were supposed to be there between 8 and 9 AM, we communicated around 9, I was told 30 more minutes. Apparently 30 minutes to them meant 2 more hours. They didn’t show up until almost 1PM!! At this point, I had to book a hotel because I wasn’t going to get to my other place in time to pick up keys before they closed. Before they left my apartment in Wilmington I told them I’d be at the office of the new place at 10 AM the next morning and if they could meet me about 10:15/10:30. What was his response to me? “Well we are getting a hotel and checkout isn’t until 12”. Oh okay, so customer service is not your priority and apparently I’m on your time even though I’m paying YOU/your company a lot of money?! As if moving wasn’t stressful enough. Sure enough the next morning rolls around, they didn’t show up until a little after 12. Even after I texted them about 1030 stating I’m ready and waiting on them. Not just that, but the place I moved into is gated, which gates have the arms that go up and down after each vehicle and the truck drove straight into the arm! Luckily, it did not break, but man what a way to start the day right? It took them so much longer to unload the truck, one guy even seemed hungover. I tried so hard to be patient and understanding, it’s hot and moving sucks for everyone all around. I even offered to go get pizza for lunch for them, which I did and grabbed some Gatorades as well. Not expecting them to pitch in finance wise, but they did which was nice. After everything was unloaded and they left, I started unpacking. I took my own inventory because I’m an organized person like that and go figure, I’m missing a box!! I paid a trash fee for them to remove a pile of trash out of my old place, which apparently they went to the dump prior to hitting the road to come unload at my new place. I don’t know how this box got left at the dump spot, when it was stacked on top of another box, which that box made it to my new place perfectly fine. I had to wait 2 days for the office to open to know if that box was there or not. The manager did not offer to ship the box to me, to pay for my hotel, to give me any of the funds back, absolutely nothing except offer to drop the box off at someone’s house in town for me. Which I’m grateful for, thank goodness it did not get picked up and sent to the landfill. However now, I have to drive 6.5 hours back to my home town to pick up this box because I’m not paying $100+ out of my pocket for the box to get shipped to me on top of the hotel expense I had to dish out. I would have just slept in my car at a rest area, but I have a cat and that is absolutely not fair to him. The only reason why I give the stars I did is because from the first time I contacted them, the visit for the quote was extremely professional, punctual. Unfortunately, that guy is no longer there. Hailey in the office has amazing customer service. To my knowledge, none of my furniture got damaged and the movers rearranged my bedroom furniture because I didn’t like where it was the first time. Other then that, the rest was an absolute nightmare and I’m beyond disappointed. This doesn’t even cover all the unprofessional conversations the movers had with me, were having with their boss about how much I owe, apparently they had I was moving into a 2 bedroom (was only 1 br), everything was just completely scattered, unorganized, not punctual and not what I would have expected from a professional company with amazing reviews.”

This was the worst moving day I have ever had and because of my job, I have moved often. I hired Few Moves in Wilmington to move us out of a 2 bed apartment. I listed all of the things we had and was estimated a load and upload time of 4 hrs and 1 hr of travel time. (They never said travel time was "base hour") It took the 2 movers almost 4.5 hrs to LOAD the truck. The last hour of loading I had to help and told them to just leave the little boxes and my kids bike. One of the movers was hustling hard while the other was leaving all of the heavy stuff to his partner and trying to use a ridiculous 4 wheel cart that very clearly couldn't go over the front door step but he just kept putting the stupidest things on it anyway. To give perspective he placed a small cabinet that already had wheels on it then he would walk so slow! Leisurely walking to and from. Would only grab like 1 lamp or 1 kitchen chair while the other guy hauled ass with heavy items. I have done this exact move with the exact furniture 3 times in 3 years because of work. I have used movers each and every time because I have an injured shoulder. Because of one slow worker they took 4.5 hrs to load a 2 bed apartments. It's never taken movers more than 1.5 hrs to load and another 1.5 to unload. We make it easy. We pack all of the boxes in one area. We shrink wrap all of our furniture. It's literally lift and go. What really disappointed me is that I brought them breakfast sandwiches and the one turtle walking worker sat there for more than 30 min to eat and smoke while the other guy ate and went back to work. So I called the company livid about this and the manager Jim said he would come by in 20-30 min. Well 1.5 hrs later and he showed up with another guy to help. That's when the turtle mover started hauling ass. His manager shows up and suddenly he can carry more than 1 small box at a time. So I hired movers to move us but had to lift heavy boxes and furniture to help them load and I helped them unload. Ridiculous. Then the audacity the company had to try and charge for the full hours. The most basic move and it took them more than 6 hrs to complete because of ONE worker who needs to choose a different industry to work in. Left his partner hanging and doing the hard work. I refused to pay and demanded a discount. Hailey in the office said "well it's just an estimate" Obviously this company gives low ball estimates then takes their time moving your stuff to tack on hours. I should have stayed with my original hired movers. But because little miss hailey said she had a better offer I went with her. I would have paid any money to not have to deal with having to move my own stuff and deal with a lazy worker who lacks the integrity to help his partner. In the end, the manager gave an hour discount. I should have only paid what I was estimated. Or maybe I should have asked where my hourly was being that I had to move my own stuff! By the way, they left that ridiculous 4 wheel Dolley the turtle mover loved to use and their tarp in my garage. Goes to show how much attention to detail they give to their job. If they see this review, by all means schedule a time to pick it up.”

My wife and I hired Few Moves move our 5 bedroom house into their storage facility for 3 months then move our stuff out of storage into our new home. My concerns started during the move out from our old home. The crew was friendly but slow and there was a significant amount of standing around (I called the supervisor after a couple hours of this and he said he'd address it). In the end they overshot the move out estimate by nearly 5 hours. The cost different was significant compared to what I was quoted as these guys are working by the hour. We were told that we'd make up for some of that by getting a discount on our storage fees which seemed reasonable. When our new home was ready, we call to schedule them to move our items out of Few Moves storage facility into our new home. As they started unloading the vehicle they guys, a totally different crew than had loaded us up during the move out, started apologizing for the state of the items. They had documented damage in several items before they loaded them up into the truck. I expect some damage during a moving process but the damage I saw was beyond your typical bumps and scratches. The damage rendered many items unusable, tables with legs completely broken off, file cabinets crushed in so badly the drawers no longer functioned, washer and dryer pedestals damaged to the point they couldn't hold the washer and dryer, and to top it all off the dining room hutch and table had extensive damage all over the sides and edges. They had obviously been drug across the warehouse floor at some point getting into/or during storage. These were just a few of the items, too many others to list. The dining table and hutch set alone was over $1300 to repair due to the extensive damage. After both trucks had been emptied we started notices significant pieces were still missing (our master bed frame, office chairs, an 8 foot bench, and a table, 10 glass shelves). It took several days of them searching their storage facility to locate several of the items, in addition to *many* emails and phones calls and then finally we physically went to the site to see this disorganized disaster for ourselves. The glass shelves that were missing, they finally admitted had been broken during storage but hadn't bothered to tell us because nobody wanted to 'fess up to it. Back to the moving day, throughout the day items that we didn't recognize started showing up as they unloaded the truck. A chair that didn't belong to us, two large carpet rugs, and other misc items. I send those items back and it started painting a very concerning picture of this company. It certainly didn't give us any confidence in their ability to securely store and return my items. Who knows what items of mine were delivered to someone else's home!!?? After a long day disappointing day, the trucks were finally unloaded. I called Matt, the General Manager of Few Moves in Raleigh and explained my many concerns, I was told they'd make everything right. I just needed to sign the bill of lading so they could send the team home and we'd work through insurance and whatever was needed to "make it right". That's why a discerning home owner like myself purchases moving insurance to account for the unexpected. Even after research and referrals, stuff happen during a move right? That would solve all the problems and after some paper work this would be a bad memory but we'd recover the lost items and would be compensated for the items that were severely damaged. We just had to document the items missing or broken we were told and Matt would submit a claim. Well, this is when the real fun in the story started. I have a documented email trail, cataloging ever phone call and voice mail I left over the next days and WEEKS. After over a month and a half (yes, you read that right) of non-responsiveness emails, phone calls, calling our sales rep that I dealt with originally that Matt finally got back to me with the response that they hadn't charged me correctly initially and would need another one thousand plus dollars to full fund the insurance claim. I informed Matt that I was very disappointed with this response given the numerous issues we had with Few Move. The issues that started all the way back with a slow move out, to the disaster of a storage facility, and finally the damaged, missing, and extra items we received during move in. I expected a better business and haven't see it. I can't recommend anyone go with Few Moves. I've attempted to follow-up with Matt many times now since our last exchange over two months ago and I haven't received any response. Few Moves has gone silent and I've been left "holding the bag" with several thousand dollars in missing and damage goods. Not the move I was expecting and not the move I paid for. I'm not looking to get rich on the situation, I just want some compensation to help cover a portion of damage caused by the disaster of a move that was executed by Few Moves.”
