What gems. Originally requested a quote via Yelp and Ken, the owner, followed up via email with specifics in terms of logistics, costs, personnel and more. When we took some time to get back to Ken (because we were shopping around) he was very responsive and showed good form in following up to make a booking. Once booked, the movers called the morning of to let us know they were on their way. They arrived on time, ready to work. The three movers were very kind, speedy and really, just nice dudes. I wish I could remember their names. They got our move completed in about 3.5 hours and were totally careful with our personal things. I know they damaged my roommate's portrait by mistake but the move coordinator took photos right away, was apologetic and made sure it would be resolved in a timely fashion. Overall, real sweet fellas who kept to themselves mostly and even let us help them pack the truck up!”

I can't say enough positive things about Denver Small Moves. Nick Gene and Greg were assigned to us, and they did a fantastic job. We had too many items to move so they went and got a bigger truck. This moving company helped me load my Penske truck in Denver for my move to California. I would like to recommend this company but they showed up without moving tape and then proceeded to use my tape during the move. I was told they would show up with tape and plastic wrap.... this didn't happen and I think this is a major faux-pas since they ARE movers! It ended up costing more than expected but the guys themselves worked hard and did a good job except for the TV I asked them to pack up. Instead of putting the screws back in the TV stand, they were missing at the other end and I had to use/find new screws! All in all they worked hard but moving tape is a pretty basic necessity and in fact I was happy that I had sealed all boxes because most movers will seal your boxes before loading on the truck. Update: after reading the owners counter to my review I want to add the following: I had them pack one small TV and that was it! I was pretty prepared when they arrived but wanted the TV professionally packed. I have moved 12 times in the last 10 years so I'm pretty well versed in moving and this was my 4th interstate move. Movers should bring tape to a job since there are times a box may not be properly sealed.... many reasons I can think of and It's downright irresponsible not to! I recommend you look else where for a moving company. The moving company who unloaded me on the other end were better and I think you can do better too.”

They did my move at the beginning of July. They did a visual quote that said they required 3 movers and 2 trucks. On the day of the move 2 guys showed up with 2 trucks. We only ended up needing 2 trucks. Then I got charged extra time because the 2 guys took longer than the 3 guys would have. So even though I should have been given a discount for their staffing issue, I actually got charged more. They also scratched up my freshly painted walls throughout multiple areas and the hallways are not narrow. Overall I am not that happy with the situation, they are just another run of the mill moving company. Update - upgraded them from a 2 to a 4 star. Following my review the owner reached out to me regarding my issues. He was willing to adjust my invoice based on only 2 movers coming to the job. I am happy they are willing to stand behind their service and that Ken was willing to quickly resolve the issue.”

Everything was as promised. Three super nice guys showed up the morning of the move and had everything done within the 4-hour flat-rate limit. No damage save a nick in the stair rail that is easily corrected. They even moved some heavy furniture already at the new place from the main floor to a loft. I sure did appreciate that little bit of extra work. It was interesting to hear their communication as they would navigate large items around corners or up and over obstacles. I've used several movers in my life but not have seen any that communicated this well. Hopefully I won't need to use them again, but I will recommend them to anyone else needing a move.”

This time our movers were Carlos, Andrew and Tony -- they were all great to work with. They were timely, professional, hardworking and personable. They went above and beyond to get the job done... our couch was too big to navigate down our stairs, so they removed the railings (and subsequently replaced them) to get it down. We also hired them to pack our kitchen, and every fragile piece of china and glassware made the move without a crack! We can't recommend Denver Small Moves enough! DSM did a great job! I had to move from a townhouse in Denver to a second floor apartment in Durango. James managed the whole move very professionally, making sure to ask me what was needed every step of the way. Called prior to each arrival, which was on time and even a little early. James and Dan packed everything up and into the truck quickly and efficiently on day 1. They even moved a few furniture items into my dads trailer that I wouldn't be taking with me. James then drove the truck to Durango and with the help of two local movers, had me in and set up within an hour on the morning of day 2. Overall very pleased with their service. Even with an elevator malfunction, these guys got done only half an hour over the estimate that was originally provided. Great customer service. After notifying them of the damages, Ken was very responsive over email and worked to quickly and fairly address my concerns. Very fair offer and he even provided recommendations to furniture repair companies in the area. I was originally very excited about the competitive and transparent rates (no hidden fees) along with the great response times via phone and email; however, the move itself was very disappointing. As I had previously moved all the boxes and would just be needing assistance with the furniture for a small 1 bedroom, the estimate was for 2 hours. The move took a total of four hours and the unfortunate part is that there was a great deal of damage to a number of pieces. I had requested a mattress bag and that was not available or provided for the move. I happened to see the chair as it fell off the truck and was sure to address it with them when it was brought up; however, I was disappointed in the way that the three movers were not transparent about the other damages and they did not bring them up to me until I personally found the damages while placing the pieces in the new place. All in, due to the amount of damage to the various pieces, it was a very disappointing move. Damages -two bookcases -bed frame -office chair -dresser”

EDIT (to address the response from Denver Small Moves): I find it surprising that Denver Small Moves is blaming ABF Freight for the issues I experienced since my complaint focused on issues that occurred before ABF Freight picked up the trailer. I had a fantastic experience with ABF Freight and would recommend them to anyone moving cross country. I am adding pictures to show how the Denver Small Moves team packed the trailer. You can see the 60" TV box balancing on a few small boxes (and a large open gap below it) before it fell on the stool leg. You can also see our dining room table placed directly on the ground of the truck without any furniture blanket and only shrink wrap around the center. This is the type of packing that led to so many scratches on our furniture. I have also included photos showing how our other furniture items were wrapped by Denver Small Moves. _______ Original post: We hired Denver Small Moves to pack our 1-bedroom apartment into a moving trailer. We were shocked to see how the trailer was packed once the team departed. Our 60" TV was at the top of the stack balancing on an uneven surface. This led to the TV box falling over just after the team left and being punctured by the leg of a stool that was set next to it. Our dining room table was balanced on its side with no blanket wrapping it. There were plenty of leftover blankets that were not used. I immediately called Denver Small Moves when I saw the way it was packed because I was concerned. I was transferred to Nick. I explained the situation and he told me to call back once we unloaded at the destination. When we unloaded our furniture at the other end, 80% of our furniture ended up with scratches or dents due to the way it was packed. The crew that unloaded could not believe that most of the furniture was not wrapped in blankets, leaving edges exposed to be damaged. Damages included: - Bed frame - Dining room table - Dining room chairs - Garment rack - Marble end table - Sofa - Vase I then called back as instructed to explain the amount of damage (which was actually worse than I expected) and was told that the company was not liable since they only loaded the truck. They also said that everything was wrapped how they always do and packed accordingly. If that's how everything is always wrapped, I'd be very concerned.”
