This is the absolute worst place I have ever dealt with. I call and set up for them to arrive at 10 AM to Fort Belvoir (given the name, that's a military installation). -10:30 rolls around, still not there, 11 am- I call the number and the manager says they have been trying to call but the number is disconnected, clearly it's not because I'm calling you. They were in an accident and it will be another 25 minutes, okay fine. -12:30 pm rolls around, no call, nothing, so I call. I'm sorry they were turned away at the gate because they did not have their ID (who doesn't keep an ID on them). At this point I'm pissed! The manager doesn't understand why I didn't inform him he would need an ID to get on a military instillation. He never planned on calling to let me know they couldn't get on. So I asked when do they plan on coming back, "well not today, because the drive to get his ID and back will be too late", I flip out. In a nut shell I was paying $595 to have my items loaded, unloaded and arranged. He apologized and offer for me to go rent a uhual and he could provide 2 helpers in about an hour and a half, for 2 hours of help for $365. You're joking right? All in all he blamed me for not explaining he would be coming on a military instillation and they would need ID. We live in DC, there are military installations every 10 miles and given the name it was a military instillation. Poor communication and offered no way of helping. I wouldn't waste your time with this company. In response to the owner: yes you have called to try and get us to change our review on your business and I get that, but as stressful as moving already is, I shouldn't have to get the run around when it comes to this. Nothing I wrote in my review was false. I also don't appreciate you making it seem like a big deal that I didn't reiterate the guys coming needed their ids, we live in DC the name has Fort (meaning military in it). When they were turned away at the gate they still didn't even call to let us know, as my husband sat and waited. I had to call you to find that out, remember that? Which I didn't even previously mention above. Also, if after all of this and you wanted to "help" us out by telling us to go get our own uhaul truck, you should have offered your guys to come to us at a substantially cheaper rate after giving us a 10:30 am arrival time and by 1:30 me calling to find out they were turned away for not having their ids and not to mention the 10 phone calls in between and saying their estimated arrival time was 25 minutes. But no you still wanted us to go get our own uhaul and pay for your helpers that wouldn't be there for another 1.5. You being the manager or owner should have just stepped in and taken matters into your own hands and got the job done. My review or stars won't change.”

DC Top Choice Movers did a fantastic job with my complex move from Alexandria and Arlington to Washington DC. My move was a little more complicated than your average move. The movers had to meet me at one location in Alexandria to pick up a couch and then travel to another destination in Arlington to pick up my remaining belongings. It was also more complicated than the typical move because both my belongings and the belongings of another person were located in the same room, so the movers had to pay attention to which things to grab and which things to leave behind. Other things that I appreciated about DC Top Choice Movers include their transparancy. They were great about calling me in advance and letting know when they were arriving in Alexandria. In addition, they showed up EARLIER than scheduled and got my move under way. The movers were extremely courteous and efficient. They thought through how to move my couch before the handled it, and they worked as a team to get my belongings out of the apartment in Arlington in about 30 minutes. I'm extremely thrilled with my movers. I will definitely use them again, and I recommend them to others.”

I would not recommend this service. We hired them to unpack our truck. They sent three people who were unable to lift heavy furniture. They scratched up the floor in the new apartment. We actually ended up bringing up some of the heavy furniture ourselves because they were moving so slow. When we called the manager on the phone to complain he just tried to give us a discount rather than address the problem of employees who could not really lift the furniture in a timely manner,”

Very professional and punctual, he had my move scheduled right away, the very next day, since me and my wife were in a very big rush. Amazing customer service skills. We had an excellent experience with these movers at the end of August 2018, and would wholeheartedly recommend them to any friend who is moving. We rented a Uhaul van and all we needed was someone to help carry and pack the furniture. This was the perfect (and very affordable) solution. We were doing a somewhat complicated move between three different apartments in the Dupont Circle area of DC, and Robin accommodated our multiple stops with no problem. Our movers, Paul and Mike, communicated with me in advance, arrived on time, brought their own dolly and tools (amazing!) and were incredibly helpful and friendly. We even had one super heavy piece to move (a granite table), which they were able to move with no problem. When one item didn't quite fit into the Uhaul van, Paul put it on top of his own personal car -- so nice. All of this done in 3 hours time, with nothing broken or scratched. Thank you so much, Robin, Paul, and Mike -- the normally traumatic experience of moving was so much easier thanks to you.”

The worst movers company ever!!! If I can give a zero star, I would. Do not use this company unless you don't mind being exploited by Robin. I had hired two movers, but one did not show up, which forced us to delay the completion of the move that cost me more money. When I complained to Robin, I received a lecture about how it is not his responsibility, how little money he was making, how difficult it is to hire good movers, and how unreasonable it is for me to expect the movers to come on time. Further, Robin even charged my credit card for the mover who did not show up at all. This company is a fraud and a scam. Hire them at your own risk.”

The two moving professionals arrived early completed the move in under 2 hours which was my optimistic completion time. The movers were both very efficient and professional. After moving me multiple times during college and after, my Dad finally made me hire a moving company. I found them on the U-Haul site and they reached out to me a day later to set up the correct times and really worked to accommodate my schedule. I booked two movers for 2 hours for my one bedroom apartment. It ended up taking 2 and a half hours, which worked out fine because you just pay for the time you go over (the charge was pretty reasonable). Paul and Joseph were my movers and they brought multiple dollies and a roll of tape and plastic wrap. They put everything into the truck carefully, safely, and efficiently. They also used the furniture blankets that I rented from u-haul to make sure that nothing would break in transit. I recommend these movers and if I am ever back in the VA area, I would use them again.”

STAY FAR, FAR AWAY!!! I scheduled a last minute move with this company and was glad to see they could fit me into their schedule. I did not realize they were only labor and I had to secure my own moving truck. When I told them I did not see this mentioned in their ad, the primary contact, a male named Robin, sent me 14 text messages explaining that they were only labor, and said I accused him of lying just because I asked about the ad. IMMEDIATELY, I knew something was wrong with him. I told him I reserved a truck and tried to get him to calm down, but he continued to send text after text, and email after email. Then him and his colleague canceled the job and told me that I canceled so I could not have a refund. I called the brokering service and they refunded my money, but the texts and emails kept coming from Robin, this time accusing me of threatening to do harm to him and his family! I HAD TO CALL THE LOCAL POLICE. I asked him to stop contacting me and told him I called the police and HE STILL KEPT TEXTING AND EMAILING. This guy is mentally ill. If you read through the other poor reviews, you will see the pattern. Robin is extremely manipulative. YOU'VE BEEN WARNED.”

Some of the reviews here on Yelp made me wary of my decision, but that's why I've decided to leave one of my own and let you know I would absolutely use this company again. My move was booked barely over a week in advance and they responded immediately, requesting run-of-the-mill details: loading/unloading addresses, summary of items, delicate or difficult items of note, and location terrain. I had a few questions related to my booking since it was done through a third party, and we emailed back and forth for a couple of days. Each time Katherine and Robin responded promptly, within an hour or two. The night before I disassembled any furniture I could, and moved the bulk of it to the room they would be using to get in and out of my apartment. I also put the furniture pads in that room, as Robin stressed the importance of renting them multiple times throughout our correspondence. Morning of, I was coming in from Virginia and received a call from the guys around 6:45am (we were scheduled for a 7:00am move) to let me know they were stuck in traffic and should arrive around 7:15/7:20. I was relieved, because I was also caught up in traffic on 395. We all convened at my apartment shortly afterward and it was straight to business. The two movers helping me immediately began wrapping up my furniture in the pads with cling-wrap they brought. If I thought to take a photo you would've been impressed - my headboard and armoire looked like they'd been professionally gift wrapped, and they did this for all of my furniture in a matter of minutes. Within the first half-hour, the truck was loaded and we were ready to hit the road. This was moving items from a shotgun-hallway English basement apartment with three narrow doorways, one covered by a staircase. They also helped me load my 55" TV into my car, since I would be driving that separately from the furniture in the truck. The same two guys helped me load, drive, and unload - when we arrived at my house in VA, they requested a quick walk-through to confirm where everything should go. They carefully unloaded everything and even unwrapped it all, cleaning up/discarding their plastic wrap and folding/stacking the furniture pads back in the truck. I requested 3 hours for my one bedroom apartment + travel time/distance of 30 miles from downtown DC to the VA 'burbs. The three hours turned out to be a perfect time frame and we lucked out with the weather. Everyone I dealt with from this company was professional, polite, and prompt. I'm grateful they were there for me and this move, because it saved me so much stress and trouble. I highly recommend DC Top Choice Movers for their incredible service, most especially because it's offered at a reasonable price for the level of professionalism they upheld.”

While the movers were both very nice, I had to ask them 3 times to use the furniture pads I rented. They placed my wooden furniture finished side down several times, causing a great deal of scratching/abrasions on surfaces, as well as two holes in walls. I provided Robin (owner) photographic evidence of destruction, but he reported that because I carried boxes on the day of the move, he was free from any responsibility AND that he had asked his workers and they said that my husband and I destroyed our own furniture, makes perfect sense, right? I made a complaint same day, and was accused of lying because I did not mention my issues to owner during a wrap up phone call, which was 1.before I could even step foot in my apartment to survey the damage that happened, and 2. on one of the movers phones because Robin would not call me himself to close out. My biggest complaint is lack of accountability on Robin's part, and the verbal abuse and accusations. If you scroll through these Yelp reviews, you can see that he verbally abuses anyone who provides poor reviews, so I'm expecting it here too. The two movers were friendly, and offered to pack things in their own cars the day of the move, which was helpful. But the damage they caused to my property pretty much negated that and more. Additionally, they did not seem to know how to pack a truck efficiently, they had to be instructed every step of the way.”

The communications prior to the move with Robin were great. Answered quickly and kept us informed as to the time within the window we requested. Rami and Rudy showed up on time and after looking at what we had in the truck and then the apartment told me to relax and proceeded to start unloading the truck. Even though I had booked a two hour slot to unload the furniture and heavy items, plus any of the boxes that would fit in the appointment, they unloaded everything within the two hours, and placed it in the right rooms. They also removed all the pads, folded them, and placed them back in the truck. They were very careful with our items, professional, efficient, and great to work with. I wouldn't trust the positive reviews. Look on Yelp, and many negative reviews on Google, at how the owner responds to negative feedback. The owner, Robin, personally attacks customers that leave negative reviews, claims they are fake customers, and has even revealed personal information on Yelp, such as name and employer. Childish and unprofessional. If things go wrong (and it looks like it's not frequent, but neither is it unheard of), the best you can expect from Robin is rude replies and insults. That was my experience too. Too bad. Politeness and willingness to work with customers tends to go a long way. I don't know who I'll recommend for movers in the DC area now, but I now know who I will recommend avoiding.”
