The condo community would not allow moving trucks on the premises so they had to park outside the gate to unload the moving van. I thought they did a really good job. We had a crew of 6 for a full house of furniture and almost 200 boxes to be unloaded from the POD. The move took almost the full day, but everyone was working and the pace was appropriate. They wrapped my TVs and artwork really well. Plus, they were really good with anything I pointed out to them as an antique or especially valuable. Nothing broke, all the boxes more or less in the correct rooms, they were all very polite and a pleasure to work with. Also arrived promptly on time in the morning and after their midday break. Jeff Burdick was super agreeable - I amended the move agreement twice to include things I had left off the first time and he was fine with it. Price was fine. I'd use them again.”

We used Absolute Moving on 12/29/18 to move our 3 bedroom apartment 7 miles down the road to our new home. They arrived on time with a crew of 3 people at 12:30pm. We had everything ready to go and in boxes and some larger items (2 couches, 2 dressers, some tv's, etc..).Now, we lived on the third floor of the apartment complex, which clearly isn't an easy chore to move out of...I understand this. The first hour of moving was not awful. As soon as the master bedroom was finished, things took a turn for the worse. I have never had people ask me if they could use my bathroom so many times..... and I have never had those people stay in the bathroom for 20 minutes each time...after the bathroom break, apparently a 15 minute sit-in session is required in the front seat of the truck to check up on social media. Between "bathroom breaks," and playing on their phones i would say a solid 2 man hours were wasted before the truck was packed. I don't know if Absolute Moving tells their workers its okay to hide in bathrooms and play on their phones or if the movers that showed up had awful diarrhea and were checking IMDB for causes, but I should have charged rent on my bathroom.. After they finally packed the truck, 5 1/2 hours later, and left numerous items in the apartment for me to take the next day, I was told they needed to stop at a 7 Eleven for a 30 minute bathroom break and to get drinks.... fine... whatever... just get to the house and move my stuff when you are done. They arrive at the house and start moving things....slowly. The head of the crew became concerned at 7:30pm (Yes, 7 hours after a 3 bedroom apartment move) that they wouldnt finished and decided to call for another crew to come help. When the other crew arrived, it was clear that we have been given not the B team, not the C team, but the D team. They had everything out of the truck in about 45 minutes and were literally laughing at the crew helping us... we finished with boxes marked ROOM OVER GARAGE in the garage...a DESTROYED muddy carpet in my new home at 8:30... The crew chief was adding up the hours and we told him to take at least 2 hours off, because we weren't going to pay for it. We got the owner on the phone and explained the situation. Even the crew chief of the D team told the owner that they were slacking... nowhere close to worth the money we paid... $1,000 to use my bathroom and play on your phone?! You are better off asking friends to help you move than hire this company. An almost complete joke.”

It seems like as soon as I had hit send, the owner Rick had responded to me. I was amazed just with that in itself. The pricing is VERY straight forward with nothing hidden or tacked on. The day of the move comes and the 3 gentleman that showed up were nice, respectful, polite and efficient. Very professional and the truck was HUGE. Come the moving day, I received a timely heads up by phone that they were on the way. Rick arrived with two other men, all extremely courteous, efficient, and careful with our things. I am retired and told them I needed it on the cheap. I was told the min. was 2 hours. By God they did it, to the min. Wow I have never seen 2 guys move so quick. I debated writing this post because I don't know if it will help but that fact that I never got a call back post move made me feel inclined to write this review. I moved to my new location 4 months ago. I feel as though I was taken advantage of with the price that was quoted to me after I saw the services this company provided. Here is why I gave 2 stars. 1. The day I had the movers come, 6 of them showed up which I felt was overkill for the size of my apartment. 2 of them were absolutely amazing and I would hire again. The other 4 acted like frat boys the entire time. Farting...blaming eachother for farting....wasting time, etc. 2. I had left my kitchen to pack because there were a lot of breakables. With the cost I was quoted I felt it was reasonable because of what was left to pack....barrels (dish boxes) are expensive and a lot of paper would need to be used. Well....what I got were the guys using book boxes (small boxes) they brought and using the couple medium boxes and paper I had left over from my packing. Then when I unpacked the boxes everything that wasn't china wasn't even wrapped in packing paper and just thrown in the box! I'm sorry but even if it isn't China it should be taken care of so it doesn't scratch or move in the box. What did my money go toward? Also, since barrels weren't used, my new apartment was smaller and less boxes that would have been packed the better. Smaller boxes caused the apartment to be overflowing to the point you couldn't walk! 3. After I unpacked and saw if anything was broken along with witnessing how my stuff was packed I called the Owner/GM to talk about items that were broken. While the guys were packing, a glass vase was broken and glass went everywhere (all movers witnessed this). In the move, my patio chair became damaged and the concrete in a floor lamp came out during the move so now the lamp doesn't sit straight and with the heavy/very breakable glass lamp shade it leans with the possibility of falling over. I left a message about these concerns along with how my items were packed along with to please call me back. 4 months later I still have not received a call. To some these things may not be alot or mean much but they mean alot to me. I don't know what company doesn't call to see how your move went....to check up on workers, etc and then not even have the decency to call back when concerns were voiced. I felt the owner just gave me lip service to get the business and then wrote me off. I will not be recommending this company to any future friends who need to move in the Tidewater Area.”

Great Service. Had 3 guys come out with a 17 foot truck (which was almost full by the end). I hired mostly for large items only (dressers, beds, couches, washer/dryer, etc). Price did not change from the phone estimate. Despite moving from 3rd floor, they got it done quick. I had everything about 80% broken down before they arrived. New rental was 15 minutes away. Total time for them to get everything down from 3rd floor, fill the truck, drive, and unload was about 2.5 hours. Really efficient. No damage to items. Great job. I would use them again.”
