I was happy with the people who helped me with the process. However two things were disappointing during my experience with PackRat and they could have been either addressed to properly handled. 1. PackRat raised the cost of the container storage during the time that I have been using the service. This was not communicated with me. I was quite unhappy to see that. This is not convenient to the customer has I had planned to only pay the amount that was agreed to on a monthly basis. That was one of the fundamental reason for picking PackRat. Now that I know the company decides to raise the price midway through my term, I am very hesitant to recommend the company to others as people's budget planning will not work. PackRat takes advantage of having people's items in its storage and knowing that they wouldn't go through the inconvenience of having their items delivered before they are ready for the delivery, the company raises the cost of storage. This is UNFAIR. PackRat business model is harmful to the customers. 2. The day of the delivery of my items, I received a call at 7 am being notified that I needed a permit for the container. This should have been communicated with much earlier since getting the permit took a week for me. I had to reschedule the container drop off for another week which totally caused issues with my move.

Hello , I am a Vietnam Veteran Who because of breathing problems and full body nephropathy was advised to move to a warmer climate . I had purchased a home in *********** Tx And I had called Pack Rat moving service to have a moving pod delivered to my home before this virus hit to pack and have transported to my new home. Then the virus came and the governor advised all of the state of Connecticut to stay home , stay inside and not to travel I contacted Pack Rat and I was told that they were considered a essential business and was allowed to stay open when other businesses had to close I explained my situation at this time but was advised by Pack Rat that I was still able to be charge rent and that I had all ready been charged $300.00 in April and would be charged a rental fee on May 10 unless I either moved or unloaded the moving pod and returned it to Pack Rat . My Compliant is that due to the virus and the governor as well as the governors of other state that I would have to travel through they all said to stay home stay safe and not to travel at that / this time Also a lot of places such as places to stay over during the nights , garages etc were closed and I might get stuck some where on the road with no place to stay or possibly get my vehicle fixed . I there fore due to this pandemic do not believe that I should have been charged a rental fee back in April and I am in the process of trying to hurry in order to unload my pod before I am again charged a rental fee in May .I again think that I was unfairly charged a rental fee due to circumstances beyond my control and had contacted the state of Connecticut Governors office regarding this matter but due to the virus they were working with a limited staff and are concerned with the virus right now and I was there for given the number of you the BBB to report this I have also been in contact with Loews Hardware who I thought was in charge of Pack Rat but was told to call Pack Rat directly Thank You

Rented a storage container for a remodel and everything was fine until pickup. While backing up the driveway the truck went off the road several times and ran over an irrigation line causing a rupture. An emergency call to the plumber, $250 and a huge headache later it was fixed. I was home during this time so no question of what caused the damage. Immediately reached out to their claims department and sent pictures and required documentation to recuperate those costs. This claim was denied as they cited the following passage of their agreement: "You authorize us to drive on your paved surface, lawn or other non-paved surface in order to deliver and retrieve the Container. In either case, you assume full risk for all damage resulting from the delivery, placement and retrieval of the Container and you relieve us from any responsibility for such damage." So.......please know that if you use PackRat for your moving/storage needs they are able to drive anywhere on your property and, regardless if they plow through your landscaping, they will not consider themselves liable. And you're stuck with the bill.

"We'll beat any portable storage unit container price" and "1-800-PACK-RAT Provides the Best Value for DITY & PPM Military Moving!" Both are lies!! "We'll beat any portable storage unit container price" and "1-800-PACK-RAT Provides the Best Value for DITY & PPM Military Moving!" Both are lies!! On 30 April 2020 I called to schedule 2x 16" container. I let the rep know I could get the same containers for my move from CO to AZ for 4,985.00 (tax included from ****. The rep contacted a pricing agent and manager and said the best they could do was 5,900 (tax included). I told the rep I wanted to speak with the manager. The rep said that was not possible. I told the rep their ad on ****** "simply ****** 1800 Rat Pack" clearly stated they would beat competitor pricing. The rep said their was nothing more they could do. This company is deceptive and deceitful. **** won my business, which based on how this went was probably a blessing in disguise.

Pack Rat driver caused damage to my driveway and yard due to negligence. He admitted fault and my claim was denied. Seeking reimbursement for repairs. On February 18, a Pack Rat driver picked up an empty storage container as-scheduled. While operating his truck, he drove too close to the edge of my driveway and onto the yard, causing significant damage to the driveway and the yard. He immediately had me come outside to take photos and admitted fault. He called his supervisor and provided me with a number to file a claim to get reimbursed for the repair. My claim was denied even though the driver admitted fault. I am seeking compensation in the amount of $1706.00 to cover the repairs. I received two repair quote and $1706.00 was the lesser of the two. I have reached out to the company multiple times via email, phone, and voicemail, and no one has responded to my requests for repairs.

Excellent phone skills by John as I gathered info & a long distance moving quote. Customer service answered my concerns as they arose. Nice complimentary lock for the clean, beautiful container. Goods arrived in tact even though non-professional family members packed our household without us being present.Simple container drop off and pick up. I have already recommended Pack Rat to someone and will continue to do so. Kudos!

This was my first experience using a Pod for moving. I will have to say it was so much more convenient and Pack Rat was so helpful. They stayed in touch all along the way and kept you informed when the POD was delivered, picked up and delivered to the new location. This was the easiest move ever. Thank you Pack Rat! Will definitely use them again in the future.

★★★★★
Very thorough, honest, professional service Customer service and communications were professional, friendly, and timely. Everything went perfectly smooth, save for a delay in delivery, which may be fairly attributed to challenges during the evolving COVID-19 crisis, when rules and regulations were shifting daily. I have used 1800PackRat three times to move and every experience has been satisfactory, and economically reasonable.

Moving during the onset of the pandemic… Moving during the onset of the pandemic was very stressful. Pack Rat as a company was wonderful! From , customer service, sales, to the truck drivers, everyone was dedicated to making our move as stress-free as possible. In the midst of uncertainty, we could count on Pack Rat. Using Pack Rat, greatly reduced our cost of temporary storage and moving inter state. I highly recommend Pack Rat. Thank you again everyone at Pack Rat.

No one from the company ever called me ever! Never emailed me either. I called the company again on Tue 9/17/19 around 2pm guy put me on hold for 10min while he called a supervisor at "the facility". He then told me they will deliver container tomorrow (9/18/19) between 8am-12pm. Today the container came. Driver called me ahead of time by 7:08am I missed the call tried to call back. He called again 7:48am said he would be here by 9am and he was here by 8:50am. Thank you! HOWEVER then I was charged $25 delivery date change fee, $50 for premium next day delivery, $50 for premium "am time slot" delivery. So they charged me $125 in addition to the regular $65 delivery fee. Needless to say I was furious and called the company yet again. Couldn't get through to billing at all. Service representative put me on hold for 15min while he talked to billing agent and then told me "you got the right billing agent today" she helped me by removing the $125 extra ridiculous fees from THEIR mistake like they helped me out (laughable). Then she agreed to take regular delivery fee off ($65). So it was resolved I guess. 6 days late and tons of my time calling and waiting and the company NEVER once reaching out to me via email or phone. Sure I guess that was worth $65 This company needs to learn the basics of customer service. Communication is key, an apology goes a long way as well. A phone call or email would be appropriate but I guess a comment under my bad review on yelp counts for something. This company did not do their job of service recovery at all in my opinion because they NEVER put in time to reach out to me the customer.

We have our brand new house and now have to live out of a suitcase for the next few weeks. If I could give this company a negative star...I WOULD! On the phone, they promised "a day or two" pickup or delivery of our storage pod. Buried in the fine print (which we still haven't found" supposedly it says 7-10 days. That was even a lie as it's now over 2 weeks to get our unit delivered even though we told them an exact date when we started this process.

This was one of the worst experiences of my life. As a Realtor I work with many moving companies for my clients, however I have never experienced anything quite as unprofessional or challenging as Pack Rat. I would highly recommend all my future clients and friends to go with another company. I found it unreasonable for the following reasons -Our items were delayed -Our items were unable to be tracked during transit -We were given a date of late arrival and time and then when it did not arrive they told us they were actually unsure of where the pod was. We had to contact them 4 times the day of the pod arrival in which it did not arrive. No communication from company was received. - An exponential increase in monthly storage fees -There was a minimum hold time of 35 minutes each time tried to contact the company -Our driver ran our pod ran into a protected Oak Tree in our neighborhood. Our items were damaged the tree was killed. This was how we met our neighbors. The neighbors called the tree service to remove it from the pod, the company did not assist in any way during this situation. We are still working on having the company compensate the tree service. The company has yet to reach out to resolve any of the issues stated. It created an extreme burden and undo stress to our transition. We are deeply unhappy with our overall experience.

Poor Communication and Customer Service: Other reviews seem to point to the same issues. Additional fuel costs of a nice and convenient $500 was charged after the move. That is a considerable amount and not clearly communicated upfront. Total Move Cost Quote is not a "Total Move Cost". I was even told by the customer service rep that many people call to complain and that they have to point out the fine print to the people calling. Maybe a change to the communication and documents is warranted???? Hold times for customer service exceed 30 minutes consistently. And leaving a message for a call back does nothing. Bottom line is if you think the cost looks good and you are getting a better deal than other companies or methods of shipping your goods, you are not, you will be charged additional money and 1-800-PACK-RAT is unapologetic for the misleading quotes.

We did receive a response from Packrat today, and adjustments were made to make up for some of the issues. I want to emphasize that the customer service and the drivers have been professional. It's Packrat's disjointed system and the poor communication that upset us so much, and a disorganized scheduling system that ended up costing us a lot of money. Suggestion: put your warehouse staff in direct and constant communication with the call center. Make your call centers regional, so your operator know regional specifics.

DO NOT USE THIS COMPANY!!! They quote you at one price and then deceptively charge hundreds more. They quoted us at a very reasonable "Total Move Price", then our bill came and was $500 more. After inquiring with Caleb in billing, we realized those little sneaks don't account for fuel costs when they quote you and save that information for the fine print of their contract. Despite diesel prices going DOWN since the time of our quote, they bill you assuming fuel will cost $2.25/ gallon (which hasn't been the national average in years). All I can say is, choose ANY moving company besides these guys. I should have known they were RATS when I read the name of their crooked company!

The company uses COVID as an excuse to raise rates. It is shameful. My items are stored on my property. The "excuse" is the need to sanitize their storage container. They haven't touched it. What they have done is propel me to empty it, pay their outrageous feel, write this review, and be done with them. Their community, social, and customer service is appalling.

I was moving within a month and have been unable to do things quickly due to foot surgery. I picked 1-800-PACK-RAT, since I didn't know if I would be getting any help or when. It turned out to be a good choice. Everyone from customer service to pick up of the container were courteous, professional, and provided service within the time frame as promised.

I was pretty nervous after reading a lot of bad reviews. But it turned out to be the best experience ever. My move was from Ohio to TX. They met every committed days and times. Answered the phone every time I called. No hidden charges or fees. I looked at all other options such as Upack, Pods, etc. But Packrats were the best in price, weight limitation and storage fees. I had no place picked up in TX, so I had them store in TX until I found a place. When I did find a place within 30 days, I got my stuff and not extra penny was charged. My order number is ** if someone wants to verify. Great friendly people all the way from drivers to call centers. Highly highly recommended.

BLUF: 1. Terrible Communication 2. Extremely difficult time acquiring weight tickets for a DITY move 3. Unreliable scheduling for receipt of container 4. Terrible option for all considering a DITY move with the military We are in the Army and after reading about packrat we felt it was the superior option to PODS as they claimed to have more experience with military moves. We initially had success scheduling the delivery of our container from our home in Colorado. I purchased weight tickets at the time I scheduled and also scheduled the pickup from Colorado and eventual delivery in Washington. Also at that time we began making preparations to take time off of work and have family available to help us unload our container. Upon receipt of the container I had to call customer service multiple times after 30+ minutes of hold times to get an empty weight ticket. Not only was this weight ticket a hassle to get my hands on when I paid $75 for weight tickets, but it was dated from 2019 so I am unsure why there was such a delay in receiving my weight ticket when it could have been provided upon scheduling. My wife and I reported to Washington on June 1st to begin training at Madigan Army Medical Center knowing that we wouldn't receive our household goods until early June due to the 10 business days required for transport to Washington. After several calls, on May 28th, June 3rd, and the morning of June 8th, we finally received the heavy weight ticket when the ticket states that it was done on the 23rd of May In Colorado. We then anticipated the arrival of our container and even had family ready to help us unload the container all day. As we waited all day, 4pm PDT arrived and I decided to call customer service only to find out that our belongings were not yet in Washington. Dispatch was closed for the day and we now do not know when our goods will arrive or if it will be in time to get help from friends and family to help us unload. I understand that transport and scheduling logistics can happen but the unprofessionalism of Packrat to not even call the customer and inform them that their container would not be delivered on the scheduled date is ridiculous. My wife and I had both taken off of work and the lack of communication by Packrat has been pitiful. My wife and I paid a premium price to help with our DITY Army PCS move and yet have had zero to minimal communication let alone the failure to uphold scheduling logistics.

Sacramento office to Southern Georgia office. Start to finish was great. I will definitely use them As the exodus from California continues. The driver dropped off the container right where we wanted it. The driver did call aheads both times. In Georgia The driver was just as good.

THIS COMPANY SUCKS!!!! Every single representative I've spoken to has given me different information, charged me fees that weren't made clear or apparent when reserving the service and now after being told there were payment plans and could pay for my move in installments, they are now charging an addition $290 a month on top of the original cost but NO ONE TOLD ME ABOUT THIS HOLDING FEE!!! EVER!!! Now they are just taking money out of my bank account without authorization and have now taken my rent money TWICE! SERIOUSLY, SPEND THE EXTRA HUNDRED BUCKS AND USE ANY OTHER COMPANY!!! They really are RATS after all.

They will work you. You will either work crazy hours. Or be slow as heck. I work 60+ hours for most of summer. Then was told could not go over 8 or 40 hours. Truck broke down fairly often. Truck is not a common type. Pay was good.

The job goes through people like crazy. They don’t pay good, if you have a class A they pay you the same as a class B, they don’t want to load you up with the forklift because management is lazy on salary, their schedule is very horrible, they make it really hard to give you the tools to get the job done, can never get the address right or they sold a product that can’t be delivered to the address no matter what you try

This company planely sucks. They are all about money , and they do not work together as a team. I had to quit them because they were braking all state , and Federal DOT rules Regulations , and Requirements. Working way past the 11 Hour Rule not filling out paper logs correctly. It was just go Go Go.

I used 1-800-PACK-RAT To make the move from Denver To Austin. Every step of the process was amazing and easy. The container was delivered on time. Picked up on time. Then it was delivered to my new residence on time. Great communication thru the whole process. Amazing drivers. They were all very friendly and courteous. Not a single item was damaged on the delivery. Thank you 1-800-PACK-RAT!!! I Would highly recommend 1-800-PACK-RAT To anyone.

Typically I start work by either printing out the days work and loading the trucks. I tend to pay attention to work e-mails from which I stay informed of the inner workings of 1-800-Packrat. Management is focused on customer service. We have a wide variety of viewpoints but everyone is respectful of the opinions of others. So it is a joy to work here. The hardest part of my job is slow periods. My job is great, I have no real complaints.
