“ I called to obtain a quote for my move and was told that based on the information I gave (size of my home, that we would be going to a second-floor storage unit, etc) it should take approximately 6-7 hours at $125/hour, plus a $125 flat rate and 8%. This is $945. I was also told they could "shave off about 2-3 hours by adding a third guy at $155/hour" so I chose this option. After my move I was stunned to see an invoice for $1560 - almost 70% more than the estimate! I bought my own wrap and wrapped my own furniture to save time. They went through and put a few more layers of wrap on each thing and then charged me for a roll of plastic. I called after my move to ask how it was possible that the charge could be so much more than the quote and was told that they have no way of knowing how much furniture I have, no idea how long it will take, and that a second-floor storage takes longer (which I specifically brought up in the initial phone call) and that when the weather is hot, it takes longer. As a solution to my frustration, he offered me 10% off my next move with them and sent me a check for $75 to cover the plastic I was charged for. Perhaps the person answering the phone is in the wrong business if his estimates are so wildly inaccurate.”
