Had such a great experience with this team this weekend! Called for a last minute unit transfer and Marathon Moving Services made a hectic and grueling task so easy! Efficient, careful, responsive movers – Milton and his crew are awesome!
We communicated directly through Yelp messaging to get an estimate and arrange the services for a local move. Milton was very responsive and patient in answering all my questions. They arrived within the 1hr window they said they would. When they arrived, I had already packed up everything so they did a quick survey to see what they would need to take down and from there it was straight to business. They have a good system between them of transporting the stuff from apartment to elevator to truck, so they were constantly moving. They took care to transport all my belongings, from the ones that said fragile and even the boxes I had overstuffed that were super heavy. And with a smile and a great attitude the whole time!
They brought plenty of packing pads for my furniture, and the plastic wrap for any upholstered items. Once they loaded the truck they went straight to the next stop where they unloaded the truck and placed the items systematically and very organized in a small storage room. Combined he said they have over 20 years of moving experience and it shows. I would definitely recommend their services, and I will definitely hire them again for a future move in the area. For a very full 2bedroom apartment, it took 4.5 hours total, including the drive time to the storage unit. note there is an added 1 hour charge for travel time on top of the labor, at the same rate. This is reasonable, but I didn’t think to ask it when I got the estimate.

The team communicated well and was timely. The team worked very hard the entire time and carried heavy furniture and boxes for 8 hours! They were honest and communicated throughout the move.

Moving tips that I learned from this experience:
1) Be realistic about how much “stuff” you have and overestimate the amount, so the right truck and team are matched. I underestimated how much stuff I had and it required extra time to load the truck. If you have too much stuff, it’s best to take multiple trips, than to overly stuff the truck–takes time and is difficult on the furniture.
2) Walk through the house with your mover and clearly communicate which furniture is fragile or important, so it is wrapped, has pads, and is loaded in the truck with extra care.
3) Mark the boxes clearly. I used round color coded stickers from amazon to label each box– labeling where it would go. When I unloaded, I moved all boxes to the wall of the room and set the furniture in place. I then unpacked the content of the boxes to there new location.

I was on a military move from Chicago to Virginia Beach. Mayflower was responsible for the local delivery to my apartment. Two movers showed up within the expected time frame and completed the job. Unfortunately I can’t remember their names, but they were both very friendly and professional. My apartment was up three flights of stairs and they did not complain at all. They brought everything in, unpacked and removed the boxes. They even removed some empty furniture boxes that were not their responsibility at my request. During the move-in a supervisor, Ron Burns, stopped by to ensure everything was going smoothly. He was also very friendly and professional. Is there such a thing as a great moving experience? I thought not, too, until I used MMM. I had a 2 BDRM/2 BATH, place in a multi-unit dwelling. Between working from home, studying and trying to pack, I was developing borderline anxiety. I’d requested quotes from a few businesses. They were either charging too much for the services required or I read really shotty reviews. I’d had my things damaged, broken, stolen, lost, etc., in some past moves. I was extremely hesitant about this move because of my past experiences. The initial communication from Emmanuel was extremely professional, succinct and informative (yes, that is possible). He was informative and stayed in communication with me, even through the day of my move. Emmanuel was honest about hourly rates and what supplies they could provide and their cost. I never felt like I was being gouged or taken advantage of. The crew was pleasant and extremely efficient. I didn’t feel any time was “lost” throughout the day and moving ALL of my items to was not easy. The crew asked questions to make sure, what went where, etc. They were not messy in their moving and no damage done to my place. I appreciate Emmanuel and MMM. I had this company move me and I would not recommend them. It took four guys at 170.00 an hour ten hours minus an hour and fifteen minutes for lunch to move equivalently a one bedroom apartment. Walter is very aggressive and unprofessional towards women. JB was great but Walter ruined it for all of the guys. Here is the WARNING ⚠️ the owner Emmanuel will promise anything over the phone in order to get your business. He then tags up with Walter who packs the truck and whispers constant insults under his breath, and has Walter do the dirty work of stretching out the time packing the truck. He then has the team wrap, double wrap, triple wrap unnecessary objects this is done to stretch out the time so they can charge you more $$$. Four big guys took ten hours to move a 1 bedroom apartment and even then they did not finish the job. They left their tape and trash for me to pick up. Emmanuel promised to have them take down the Wallmount but the guys who did the move did not honor my request. At the end Walter tried to charge me an extra $500.00 for the move. When I told him that was not in our agreement he proceeded to yell and scream at me and call me names. I had to ask him to leave and had to pay Emmanuel later. They took an hour and fifteen minute lunch and wanted to charge me for it. Walter seemed to enjoy being rude yelling at me and always telling me no. Poor customer service and milking the customer by wasting time and drawing out the time. I was offered a flat rate of 1000.00 from other movers. I regret choosing Mighty Men Moving Walter is combative in nature and wreaked of alcohol. I do not recommend these guys they did not do a professional job. I felt they took advantage of me by stretching out the time to make more $$$$. Emmanuel is a denier because he uses Walters dishonesty to make him $$$. Don’t use these guys they cost me over 3k for damages and for refusing to finish the job. They are not reliable.

Nova Express was fantastic for our local move within Arlington. Although we made a somewhat last minute query, they were able to fit us into the schedule with less than two weeks notice. The office manager Dana was very responsive to my request within an hour of submission online, and the moving manager Kay was also very responsive to my check-ins on scheduling the day-of.

While the team arrived slightly later than originally expected as we were their second move of the day, Jevoy and Ola were cheerful, hard-working, and exceptionally helpful as we simultaneously finished packing some remaining boxes and disassembling the bed while they worked on filling the truck with the other furniture and many boxes. We had more boxes than originally estimated and also some hiccoughs with freight elevator access, but they were troopers despite working for seven hours getting everything moved. All our furniture was well protected and they placed it all where desired. Based on our experience, we would be more than happy to hire Nova Express Movers the next time we move.

Overall, Harrison’s provided a very positive experience during a predictably stress-filled time, moving approximately 15K lbs from Chesapeake VA to Tampa FL. Michael Carrithers was our salesman, weight appraiser and contact point throughout the move. He was very transparent and forthcoming in all aspects – tried hard to ensure I understood the process from start to finish without any surprises. Offered a “Not To Exceed” option which allowed me to not worry about weight determinations. Encouraged me to come out and see the operations at their facility, which I wanted to do, but was eventually overcome by other time commitments. Furthermore, Michael wore a mask during every engagement, including when he came by the house two days after the weight appraisal to drop off boxes! Regarding the actual move, the driver (Lee) and crew at the house were professional and performed their due diligence in tagging and loading. No issues of any kind. The driver on the delivery side (Bill) was exceptional in all regards: very friendly, professional and with the work ethic of a Spartan. He and the crew not only unloaded the truck in 3 hours, but placed it exactly where we wanted it to go. No damage on anything in the move. If all of the folks at Harrison’s are like Michael, Lee and Bill, I would most definitely use Harrison’s again.
