Disclaimer: I did NOT use this company for a move. This review is based on a frustrating interaction with one of their crews. I'd stopped for gas outside of Ridgefield WA, when this truck pulled up and blocked me out of my car. I asked them to please move so that I could get back in my car - I was the only car at any of the islands when they stopped. The driver gets out and says "It's your fault - you parked too far from your pump," and proceeded to start pumping his gas. He only moved after I called the 800 number on the back of his truck and complained to his dispatcher. Just a real jerk all the way around. I hope this grotesque lack of professionalism isn't representative of the company. It really baffles me when people are just jerks when their company vehicle has an 800 number plastered all over it.”

We requested unloading assistance from You Move Me. They arrived on time and worked hard. We requested that the team wear masks inside at all times. I'm immunocompromised and the team was not fully vaccinated. They wore them for 10 minutes, then discarded once I started working on other tasks. The one star review is due to the moving team unwrapping the moving blanks on my couch to maneuver off the truck, then not putting them back on to get into the house. If they kept the blankets on, or at least used them in the to get through the door frames, I'd have a nice couch. The foreman stated that the company has an in-house repair person and that they could send that person out. They said it directly in front of my Ring camera. This was a lie, all lies. From the tablet being unable to scroll ("let me do that for you"), to having insurance to fix the couch. I'm getting $0.60/lb. for a $1500 couch less than 6 months old. The company was very short with me when I requested someone weigh it for the damage. They asked me to do it, but I can't. I'm disabled, I have no functional grip strength in my hands. The unloaders were cool with me not being able to help. The person that called seemed more concerned with their bottom line. There is no excuse for removing protective padding to get an item off the truck and not replacing it to transport inside.”

As you can see, I normally leave positive reviews if I am impressed, and almost never any negative comment if I am disappointed. However, I feel compelled to write a negative one for this company. I got an in-person estimate from this company, which was $1295.72. I got multiple estimates, but no other company could beat this. So I hired them. We packed more than 90% of the things by ourselves. I attached photos taken at the time of home inspection performed 5 weeks prior to the move. See garage packed with boxes and living space with very few items left. Remember this is 5 weeks prior to the move. We kept putting things in storage spaces into garage. Also, since the new house is just a street away, we kept moving things by ourselves after the close date. By the time the mover arrived, there were few things left that needed to be packed. On the day of the move, they called me asking if they needed to bring anything. I asked them to bring several boxes for unpacked items. They ended up using only 5 boxes as Bill of Landing shows. Both my wife and I helped them. My wife packed almost all kitchen items since they required special care. I moved electronics (PCs, TVs, printers, etc) by myself without packing. After everything was done, they tried to charge me over $4000, but after taking a look at my puzzled face, a lead man spoke with the management, it came down to $2574.60. However, this was still twice as much as the estimate. He did not give me any warning that the final charge would be significantly higher than the estimate. I posted my initial review, and Robert called me the next day, and he said in an accusatory voice that the price went up because everything was not packed and they needed extra time packing. Give me a break! The average packing specialist costs $60 per hour. So, $1279 ($2574.60 minus $1295.72) is equivalent to 21 hours of packing. The fact is, the estimator underestimated the amount of items we had and the time it took to load/ unload them. We had two large bookcases (143" wide, and 110" wide) that needed to be separated and joined. As a result, they needed to run the truck twice. A website entitled "The Top 10 Moving Scams" says, "An 'estimator' who does a quick walk-through of your home without opening cabinets and taking note of exactly what you plan to move is going to be way off the mark." Also, in the process of moving, they broke several items, one of which was missing a part. I brought it to the lead man's attention at the end of the move. All he said was, "I will look for the missing part in our truck, and get back to you," but he never did. He did not mention anything about filing a claim. These items were not expensive, and I was not necessarily asking for compensation. All I was hoping was honest disclosure (whoever broke it should know) and prompt follow-up (the lead man did not contact me, unsure whether he even tried to find the missing part). If I had simply called them to file a claim, I am sure they would have accused me of not telling the crew on the spot, and made the filing process almost impossible. On the other hand, if a customer brings it to the crew's attention on the spot like I did, they will say,"OK, let us check, and we will get back to you," and they don't. Either way, they dodge customer's filing. After seeing my review, they called me immediately and turned their fault into mine saying, "you did not pack everything! You could have filed a claim for damaged items. It is clearly written in the contract!" I am taking this case to Small Claims Court.”

Remember that day in Portland when it was so hot that your face melted off and you basically laid on the sofa hoping to survive one of Portland's hottest days ever? That's the day we were scheduled to move. When we started hearing reports of how hot it was going to be, we called the company a few days in advance of the move to make sure that they were going to send a crew out in that kind of heat because, you know, it was so stupidly hot that we'd have totally understood if they rescheduled us...even though we had a deadline to move out that day. They asked us if they could start 3 hours earlier than scheduled to try to avoid the hottest part of the day. We said "yes" but that we might not be done packing with the earlier start time. Well, we weren't done packing when they came and they were SO amazing!! They moved everything we had ready into the truck and then used the breaks to hydrate while we packed up more boxes. Colin and Violet were definitely feeling the heat of the day but never complained. They had wonderful attitudes throughout! Rob (an owner) showed up at the new house with gatorade for his crew and helped make the unloading even faster. This was the second time we used them for a move and would not hesitate to use them again!”

Positive: They were on time and kept in touch. The were hard workers and they worked well together. They brought runners and door pads to help out from scratching things up. Negative: They got to our house and was backing up a 26 foot truck with no one outside to help guide and hit our tree. They seemed to be in a hurry and we constantly had to tell them to slow down. First of all, they were on time. They said they would be there by 8 a.m., and they were pulled up and waiting by 7:50 a.m. Also, they were very polite. All 3 of the men introduced themselves. They were very polite and respectful. They also were clean and respectable looking. All three men worked exceptionally fast, they wrapped everything, they put padded blankets up on the walls in areas where they might bang into something. None of my things nor my home were damaged in any way. I understand others have complained about this, but it was not my experience. They were fast, careful and very polite. The cost of the move was less than they quoted. They did what they promised, they wasted no time and at no time was I worried about them handling my belongings. We've moved around quite a bit, and have hired a lot of moving companies. This was the first time we used You Move Me, and we were VERY pleased. We had a huge move that was complicated, and they were our "one stop" solution for it all. We moved from a 5 bedroom, 3 story home, needed to stay in an extended stay for 6 nights, and then moved in to the new home. You Move Me gave us an excellent move out team consisting of: Amy, Q, Kevin, and Dan. We also paid for packing (first time ever, and wow what a great service) and Amy was the main packer. If I was nervous, I need not have been because SHE IS AWESOME. Best job packing EVER, and that's saying a lot because I'm super picky. She is the greatest! Our move in team was Chayton, Sam, and Big Tim. They did an excellent job of being careful, especially given we had just put in new carpet and paint. I was very impressed how well they protected our house with the "red carpet" as well as putting up blankets on all door jams. As far as our special circumstances went, they let us use a Budget rental truck, and then allowed us to park it in their lot for a reasonable daily fee, until it was driven to our new home six days later to complete the move-in. They worked with us on our budget and were very flexible in the 2-part payment arrangement we needed to make. Special mention to Bryce. He was on top of our needs, had excellent communication with the team, and everything we needed was here. They did need one item on the move-in and so one guy left, and they were very careful to only charge us for a 2-man team (instead of 3) during the time the third guy was gone. All in all, I'm very impressed. They really seek to do a good job, and please the customer.”
