I initially called Krupp Moving, but they did not have any availability for the day I wanted to move, so they told me that they also owned Summit Moving & Storage and could get me scheduled with them. Everything went fine and Summit Moving was very accommodating and sent out several reminders of the move as well as tips for preparing for the move. I thought this was great. And then the morning of my move I received a call from a lady named Terri who stated that she was going through my paperwork and was giving me a courtesy call because she noticed that I had not selected to purchase insurance for my move. I asked her why was this just now being brought to my attention and not when I made the arrangements??? She then told me that it is explained in the paperwork and readily admitted that most people don't read the paperwork. I asked her if they knew that most people didn't read the paperwork then why wouldn't you be honest and transparent up front and tell your customers. She went on to say that she was just giving me a courtesy call because most people want the insurance. I asked her how much it would cost and she told me that it would cost $125. THIS WAS THE MORNING OF THE MOVE!!!! She also explained that without the insurance the company only pays 60 cents per pound if something was damaged in the move by their movers. THIS IS A HORRIBLE PLOY TO GET EXTRA MONEY OUT OF THEIR CUSTOMERS AT THE LAST MINUTE. This is a very DISHONEST practice! The movers showed up not too long after the phone call and were very happy to see that everything was all packed up and ready to go. All THREE guys stated that it would take no time to complete the move. So David, the team lead started going over the paperwork with me at 9:40am, but stated that the time started at 9:30am when they hadn't even began to work or move anything. David also stated that the $877.72 quote was for 2 hours and I told him that my quote said it was for 3.5 hours and proceeded to show him the email of the quote that I had received and then he changed his tune. I also showed David a coupon that I had received in the mail for $50 off a move over $750 and he proceeded to tell me that I probably will not be able to use it because the move would end up being less than $750 because he anticipated on the move being completed very quickly by how much I had to move. There were THREE movers who showed up, David, who was the team lead, Dakota, and Sean. Sean did a great job! He was very professional and very hard working. David, the team lead stayed out in the truck most of the time with a portable radio playing loud enough for the neighbors to hear. Dakota was very slow and did not want to work, and had even disappeared upstairs for a period of time not moving anything. David, the team lead, did not provide any direction to his crew, they were just left to themselves to do what they thought was best. Sean was trying to do things quickly and efficiently and Dakota was being very combative at times. Sean knew that things were not moving as quickly as they should have and he even apologized several times because it was taking so long for the move to occur. Sean worked the entire time. For me to have already had everything packed up and ready to go and not have a whole lot it took them almost THREE HOURS just to move everything out of my condo and into the truck. Remember this was supposed to be a quick move!! After several apologies from Sean, it just verified my thoughts that David was doing this on purpose. After they moved everything out I voiced my displeasure of the whole moving out experience. After I voiced my displeasure then when we got to my new place things picked up. I have a big heart and believe in second chances, so after I saw that they had picked up the pace I told the guys that they had redeemed themselves and that I was going to let the past be the past. The guys left in a pretty good mood. I later looked at the bill and saw that David charged me 5.5 hours for the hours of 9:30am-2pm when that actually only added up to 4.5 hours. After all of tjis, David still tried ripping me off even after I forgave them for the HORRIBLE beginning of the move and ALSO for the fact that it should not have even taken over the 3.5 hour time that I was initially quoted for when they intentionally drew the move out to get more money!! So I called the next day and informed the office that I was overcharged for the move and they checked the paperwork and saw that I was overcharged and promised to reimburse me for what I was overcharged. I was not even going to write this review, but with David insisting on ripping me off I could not just let this slide. Sean was the only good part of my moving experience with Summit Moving & Storage. I WOULD NEVER RECOMMEND THIS COMPANY TO ANYONE!! THEY ARE VERY DISHONEST AND VERY MONEY HUNGRY!!!”
