Moving-Me about S&Q Movers
The company offers a range of moving services. You can use complete service, that includes packing/unpacking, protection wrap, loading/unloading, furniture disassemble/ reassemble. Or you can choose moving help only services (2 men – 2hr minimum w/ 3hr max (no stairs); 3 men – 2hr minimum w/ stairs 2nd floor only; 4 men – 2hr minimum w/ stairs 2nd & 3rd floor). The company also provides cleaning services. Can be booked to clean the entire home, appliances only, or spot cleaning. Heavily soiled areas will be subject to extra charges! The company’s team can help with rearrange furniture in home/office, gun safe and piano moving. Rates will vary depending on weight and model.

Hi, I hired S & Q to move my personal items on 8/24/2020. Damage occurred and I made several attempts to get the owner to correct the damages and accept responsibility for the repairs needed, but to no avail. Well, eventually I received a text on the 10th of September that they would come to see the damages reported the following day between the hrs of 2-4 pm. However, prior to that I had extended an invitation to my home for he/them to see for themselves. Mid morning on the 11th I received a call asking if they could come then. I explained that it was not convenient and that it had been agreed upon for later that afternoon. Long story short no one came and no one placed a courtesy call to reschedule. This is unprofessional and not good for business. This is how a business loses one customer at a time. If you are considering hiring this moving company please do so, but as a previous customer still seeking to obtain a repair this has become a nightmare, and their failure to accept responsibility for the damages and lack of professionalism and integrity has caused me to seek other options to solve my problem. Why am I taking the time to inform you of my experience is simple. I do not wish that anyone has to experience or go through what I have gone through and still am. Any business has to sell their business because they want your money, but unfortunately that’s what its all about. My advice to anyone regardless of what moving company you are considering for services understand that no one cares about your personal property like you do and the struggle to get them to accept responsibility is real and a struggle. I used S&Q to move my furniture and large items only. I wanted to give an honest review, although I was asked to leave a 5-star review, so others can make the best decision for themselves. I have moved 4 times in the past 5 years, and I was active duty Air Force before that, so I have a lot of experience with moving companies. I also had a 5-star experience with Tropical Moves in Wilmington, who only needed 3 guys to move the same amount of furniture (with slightly better timing) that I had S&Q pack-up and move-in, so that is my grading standard. PROS: -Every member of the team is polite and hospitable. -They wrapped everything well, and there was no damage to any of my moved items, which ultimately is what you want out of a move. -Military discount was offered. CONS: -This move was during COVID-19 restrictions, and 8-10 movers were in my house and not ONE of them wore a mask!! (That’s a law suit waiting to happen.) -The biggest thing I had an issue with was the unexpected price increase when it was time to be billed initially at the end of the move. I called S&Q on July 13 to get a quote for an August 27 move. I was asked information on the phone and then given a quote. Every other time I have moved, a representative has come to the house to do an actual survey of moving and THEN given a final quote. This makes sense, so the customer can budget properly and the mover knows exactly how much manpower and resources he needs. So, at no time between July 13 and August 27 was a person sent out to do an in-person survey, so the implication is the price will be what was quoted, barring any extra time needed. Never use a moving company that does not come to your house within a few days of calling and do an accurate, in-person quote. That way, you avoid “surprises” at the end. After I got text they were going to be an hour late for show time, I got a text that more movers were going to be added to the original 3-man crew that was quoted, due to heat index, and that labor would be pro-rated, which would save me in the end. When you as a customer read that, your expectation is not that there is going to be a price increase, especially if when it is not clearly stated, “This is going to increase your price.” So, when I got the bill at the end of the move, it was $260 higher than the quote I had planned for. I did not have an extra $260 lying around to just give away and explained the whole reasoning to Omar. He was saying the job would have taken longer if he hadn’t added extra people (but I know that’s not necessarily true if the movers are well-trained like the guys from Tropical Moves), but he saw how the message was confusing, and graciously reduced the price back to the original quote, which was fair. But, this all would have been avoided with a proper in-person quote. -After I got off the phone with Omar, I noticed there were two wood slats that had just been left by the doorway. It’s never good when random pieces are just out after moving. Well, when I finally looked under my bed, I saw that none of my metal support pegs had been re-attached. They were just in a pile under the bed. Go figure, they were supposed to go in the wood slats I found. Those wood slats and the pegs were the central support for our mattress. Had I not discovered this error and re-assembled myself, our bed slats would have slowly began to sag over time and eventually damage the bed. Unacceptable! If you don’t know where something goes, ask your supervisor or at least tell the customer!! In summary, I would say you can use this company, given you get an accurate in-person quote, and they make improvements on the issues I addressed. The advance deposit is something I have never experienced with a moving company before, but no harm to me in the end. Again, my furniture was undamaged when it arrived, and the movers were polite and cordial (though not always competent), so it all balances out to a 3-star rating. Just ask the right questions and satisfy your own requirements before deciding to use.”
