Skinny Wimp Moving Reviews

★★★★★
This is the third time I have used them to move within Phoenix. They were in time, professional and just awesome guys. I was worried about a couch getting in and they Tetris the crap out of it and made it work. Great moving company. I strongly recommend them. Damon and Talson were awesome to work with.
- Brandon K.

★★★★★
They were excellent! Their quote was simple, an hourly fee and a trip charge. In the end, the fee matched the quote. The movers were efficient and worked quickly. I would use them again and I would recommend them.

★★☆☆☆
Before getting into the negative portion of my review, it is important to note, that Moses, Damon, and Demetrius were all great - worked hard, friendly, respectful, and really helped my husband and I out with our move this past weekend. As with any move, there were several items that were just slightly nicked and damaged (a curtain rod, the bed nightstand, a lamp shade, and some wall art). We appreciated that the team was clear and upfront about the damage that those items incurred. However, after the team left, we found that our flat screen tv was heavily damaged. Careful handling unfortunately was not the case for this item. It was packed and taped by the team, loaded and then unloaded, and then left in a room with the damage facing the wall and tucked behind some other items. This is not a case of the screen being scratched or the case being chipped, this is obvious damage that should have easily been noticed during unpacking. My husband and I found it odd that the team was very upfront about other damage, but the most damaged and most expensive item appeared to be placed away from immediate view without any notice. We reached out to Skinny Wimp to see what sort of coverage they offered for damaged items and unfortunately the basic insurance package that we were automatically enrolled in only covered $0.60/lb. No one ever intends to damage an expensive item, but I wish they would've told us that there were other coverage options -moving in and of itself is expensive, let alone having the unanticipated cost of having to purchase a brand new TV due to a bit of the movers' carelessness.

Juan and Nathan rocked our Scottsdale move. Very customer oriented and efficient. I'm still amazed how fast these guys can move in the 108F Arizona inferno! The cost of the move was very fair and I would use these guys again!

★★★★★
I called around to probably 10 different local moving companies getting quotes, hourly rates, trip charges, etc. Save your time and use my research! These guys were seriously awesome. They busted their a**es, hustled, had personality, and absolutely cared about their work. They saved me money and stress and even have a military discount. 100% will refer to others!
- Chelsea Z.

★★★★★
Drew and Mike are exceptional. They went above and beyond and never complained. Not only did they move our stuffs but also begun setting it up. They took very good care of all our items. The take their time to wrap every item gently and carefully. We had a little bump when our sofa wouldn't fit the door. This took about 30. They generously pause the time as they tried to figure ways to get the sofa out. Our next move is a house and we sure are using this company. They are affordable, reliable, respectful, and take very good care of all your items.

Our movers were Juan and JT. They were on time and they smiled everytime I saw them. My first experience moving company was very awesome. They were friendly too. I highly recommend this moving company. Also, the front office I believe his name is Conner. He was kind too.

So I used Skinny Wimp Moving about 1 1/2 years ago when I moved into my old house. I did not have them move my stuff, rather, I had them take my pool and air hockey tables (now sold) upstairs and put them together. I was really happy then. But this last experience was horrible which is why I never trust reviews since one person can be great and another horrible. I was told I had to have a team of 4 people because I had the tanning booth which was 982 lbs. I personally rented the mighty Moe dolly from A to Z parts which worked great. When they arrived I told them right away about the booth. They were going to wait till closer to the end to add it on. They packed it and only 75% of my things got on the truck. They mentioned a second load may be needed. So I got worried because it was $150 trip charge ($144 with my discount since I used them previously) and $180 an hour ($171 per hour because of my using them previously). I said Chandler is an hour from Queen Creek so that would be 3 hours of travel @$513 + $144 travel charge = $657. I said there was no way I could afford that. The guy said oh no it is just the travel charge of $144 no time is charged for the travel time. But it worked out that we did not make 2 trips, only 1. So at the beginning I noticed that the guy was upstairs in the laundry room. It appeared he was taking apart the washer and dryer. they took so long to get things on the truck that I went up stairs a few times to see where we were. I noticed the washer and dryer were still there. I opened the door to that room so they would not miss taking them because I don't know how to disconnect that stuff. At the end they went back and disconnected it. All the sudden the guy yells out I need help so I ask what happened. He says I need a bucket. Then he proceeds to say that it is just the water that was in the hose when it disconnected that needed to go in the bucket. So 10 mins later I go upstairs and I hear running water and ask is there a leak. He claims no what was left was running down the drain in the wall. There was a leak that was so bad the water had to be shut off and we could not use it till someone came the next day. It cost $75 for my warranty company to come out. The company they sent took out a small hole and told me that the plumbing was covered by a 2x4 and a handy man would have to cut the 2x4 before he could fix the issue. This was not really the case. So we hired someone else to come out at a cost of $500, $200 I paid and $300 my Realtor paid to be sure the sale of the house went through. When the 1st charge was being billed to me I called Skinny Wimp and spoke to Meghan who told me to send them the bill and they would take care of it. When I found out another $200 was an issue I spoke to Allison who said I signed a waiver and not only was the $200 not being adjusted off but neither was the $75 that Meghan promised me already. At the end I was figuring out what I owed which should have been $1273.50. The guy wrote down $1056.50 before I saw the paper. Then the guy started to say that I had to pay $10 more an hour not total because I was having it paid through my debit card. I carry checks in my purse so I had a check. But the other guy said your math is off to the other guy we will go with her total and said just tell the office I did the paperwork and then told me he would charge my card that I paid my deposit with even though I told him I had a check. Two days later Allison called me back to say I owed $1425. So they had already billed $25 for the deposit and then billed $1000 and also a separate charge for $400 not sure why. The following day they billed me $85.50 I am not even sure why. I think they were just trying to confuse me by making separate charges. I disputed it with my bank and sent them a copy of my signed receipt from the moving day. My boyfriend even tells me that the one mover told him you should not have used this company they are really shady. I thought he was joking but he said no that is for real. That says something if their own employee or contractor says something like that. But now I can see how true. Always 2 people were working while 2 not completely in view were breaking. I saw this accidentally a few times. They screwed up and sent a truck with a regular ramp and not a hydraulic lift so they had another truck come to take the tanning bed at no extra charge since the tanning bed was my whole reason for using this company and hiring 4 people. That was told to the people in the office at booking and the movers upfront. they did also take my outdoor furniture in the second truck. I did not realize how poorly packed their truck was till we personally rented the biggest Uhaul and had Anthony's friends help us. One of them was previously a mover for a moving company. He got so much on our truck I was amazed. I had asked them at the very beginning to pit my bed screws in envelopes that I provided and they said they did. But I asked them to give We had 2 other moving companies assist us with us recent move. The 1st mover left our pool and air hockey tables in the garage even though we wanted them in the loft. The 2nd movers did not have enough time. The 1st company nicked up our air hockey unit and messed up the leg on the pool table. Skinny Wimp Moving came in today and fixed everything the other companies messed up and within 2 hours. Mark, Max, and Jonathan did a fantastic job! From now on I won't use anyone else.

These guys showed up, wrapped up my stuff to protect it during the move and loaded it up quickly and efficiently. The guys were great, they had a great attitude and we're friendly. In 3 hours we had everything packed up, loaded, moved and unloaded and all cleaned u . Granted, there was not an entire house full of stuff, but we left all the big heavy furniture plus a 300 lb. safe for them to move they did a great job. We did have one piece of furniture with a damaged leg, they fixed it and had it back together good as new with their own tools. During the move we asked if they could move a refrigerator from a room to put our freezer in that spot and they were more than happy to do it. They had to take the refrigerator doors off so they could get it out of the room and made it happen quickly. These guys were great from start to finish. I'm glad they were there to help us out during our move because we only had a few says to be out of our old place and with their assistance we were out a day earlier than we expected. Next time we move, we will definitely be calling these guys back out. Btw, did I mention this was all done for a low low cost? Call these guys to get the job done right and done quickly. Thank you Skinny Wimp Moving!

We used this company twice and each time they are amazing! Nothing broke, they work fast and are extremely nice and polite to work with. Can't sing them enough praises especially after we have to change our move date twice and each time they were co accommodation.

Drew and his crew of 4 came and hauled butt. I would recommend Skinny Whimp Moving company to anybody! If you are moving please call them. They are inexpensive and do quality work. They put everything where we wanted it. Other than a minor scratch or crack we are very happy with the quality of work.

These guys were on time, were polite and friendly and the price was right. They were not grouchy about having to deal with the elevator situation moving an apartment on the 21st floor. Would definitely recommend.

★★★★★
I had Skinny Wimp move me for the second time in 3 years. As before, I couldn't have been more pleased. Damon and James were very professional and personable. They didn't waste one moment on the job. My next move will be when I buy my house and I will hire them again. I highly, highly recommend hiring Skinny Wimp for your next move! Moving is always so stressful, but Devon and Noel made my move less so. They could not have been nicer and more professional. They even moved two heavy pieces of furniture twice due to a miscalculation on my part. I hope I don't have to move anytime soon, but I will gladly use Skinny Wimp again and recommend them in the future.

I had a fantastic experience with Skinny Wimp. The front office staff made everything so easy, and were super flexible when I had to reschedule. Drew, Andre and Mike absolutely ROCKED my move yesterday. They showed up ready to work, were super friendly, and hustled the entire time despite it being 100 degrees out. They carefully wrapped all the furniture in blankets and cling wrap. If anything somehow got scratched or dinged, I didn't notice 🙂 The wardrobe boxes provided were a game changer (basically tall boxes with a rail where you can hang your clothes) and saved me so much time packing and unpacking. And Drew assembled three beds in the time it would take me to read the instructions for one. I would definitely recommend these guys for your next move!

Mike and Damon were our 2 movers. Scheduled a 9am time whereby they were right on time. They even called to confirm before the appointed time. Although, I didn't have much stuff to move they definitely took care on every bit of the moving process with great care of my stuff. Would hire this company again next time if I need to move again. And would ask for same 2 guys.

These people were amazing and fast Juan and Kelly came to my 2 bd 2 bth apt and moved swiftly Juan was especially fast and friendly. 10/10 would use again! I scheduled the pickup a day before it happened. Out of a last-minute emergency and I'm glad I did. And it worked out amazingly! They came at the end of the day but they did everything that I needed them to do efficiently and with a smile. I could not ask for a better team to assist me with my moving process. I would mention the yelp ad I got $25 off the deposit. All under $300 to move a two bedroom two bathroom apt upstairs and downstairs for 2 hours. Update: 3/5 they charged me twice after assuring me it was the only payment needed. This happened before the movers arrived. Then they moved everything I signed a confirmation document and told the mover 'this signature isn't for payment I paid already.' Because I saw the balance in the document. He nodded his head but he didn't speak English well so there might've been an communication barrier. However a month later I see two charges from this company. I called and they removed it but it's the principle. I went over and over this w/ the woman I scheduled this with. Got email confirmation saying this was the only payment needed and they STILL charged me twice. The service was fine but check your statements people they can double charge.

Not an experience worth having. Moving is hard, but you have to be smart. The easiest way is not the best way. I don't know what happened today but I am incredibly disappointed with the moving service I received today. I currently do not have a working fridge. The power cord was slashed as it rammed into my brand new front door (photos attached). So the food I put in a cooler to move 25 minutes away is now completely ruined And to top off that, I unwrapped the stainless steal handles for the fridge and no care was taken. Completely scratched up and an eye sore. Looks like it has been put under a grinder. Glad I spent $2000 on fridge to last 10 years for a moving company to ruin it in 2 minutes. THIS COMPANY IS TRASH

Outstanding movers. Helpful, respectful and friendly. Getting the quote was quick and no hidden fees. On time. Personable. Worked had and did a great job moving our stuff in brutal heat. Will use them again; my mom and I felt comfortable with Jimmy and Dre. Love the fact that Jimmy was a veteran and Dre has a great sense of humor. Thank you guys for the excellent service.

I used this company for my move last weekend. Honestly, all was great except for a broken end table that I bought a year ago. I figured I would fill out a claims form and they would replace/reimburse me relatively quickly considering it's a small item and it was completely destroyed (3/4 legs snapped off). However, after emailing my form Tuesday morning, following up via phone Thursday & Friday, I haven't heard anything from their team. All I want is an answer, or at least some sort of follow up with an expectation for what happens next. After reading through the previous reviews on other sites, I should have thought twice before booking this group.

SKINNY WIMP IS THE WORST! PLEASE READ THIS BEFORE YOU HIRE THEM I hired Skinny Wimp to help me move into a new home in Ventura County, CA. I paid for one truck and a crew of three workers. They were supposed to show up at 1000 am on a Saturday. They were not able to show up on time because their truck broke down. When I spoke with their office, they could not tell me with any certainty when someone would show up. Over the next couple hours, I sat around waiting for them. By 130 pm, I was fed up and demanded to know when they would arrive. I was given a guarantee that they would be at my home at 230 pm. They did not make it. They finally showed up at 300 pm, fIVE hours later than they were supposed to be there. Because they showed up so late in the day, we were not able to complete the move. They had to come back the next day, which was a Sunday and happened to be my daughter’s 16th birthday. I expected them to show up first thing on Sunday so that we could complete the move and I could spend time celebrating my daughter’s birthday. This did not happen. Once again, I sat around waiting for hours until they finally showed up around 245 pm. Even though I had paid for a crew of three, only two guys showed up. Needless to say, I was very frustrated and angry about this experience. I was told by the office on Sunday that the manager would call me first thing on Monday to address my concerns. I waited all day on Monday and never got a call. So, I called the office again on Tuesday and spoke with a supervisor. He was cooperative and apologized, but when I demanded to speak with his boss, I was told that he was out of the state and too busy to speak with me. The supervisor asked what they could do to make me happy. I told them that I felt I deserved a discount for the way I had been treated. They offered me a measly $50, after I had paid them about $1,200, for which I received terrible service. I will NEVER, EVER USE SKINNNY WIMP AGAIN. The management at this company is horrible. They could care less about customers. The guys who actually came out and helped me move were great. I was going to list their names here to give them credit but I do not want their names to be mistakenly associated with the terrible work done by management. The movers were friendly and did a great job. I would hire them again in a second. But, as I said, I will never use Skinny Wimp ever again and I cannot recommend them to anyone who is thinking of moving and needs to hire a mover. BECAUSE OF THEIR POOR CUSTOMER SERVICE, I SPENT A TOTAL OF 10 HOURS SITTING AROUND WAITING TO MOVE, AND WORST OF ALL, I MISSED BY DAUGHTER’S 16TH BIRTHDAY PARTY.

Book at your own risk I booked a time with these movers after finding a Groupon. I had a very small one bedroom apartment's worth of furniture to mover just a couple of blocks down the street; a move that, at best, should take no longer than 2 hours. On moving day, the movers showed up 2 hours late. I was called 30 minutes before the scheduled arrival time to confirm the movers were headed my way, but they did not arrive for 2.5 hours later (2 hours after my scheduled time was to begin). No one told me they would be late and no one could be reached at the general office until 1 hour after the movers were supposed to arrive. I was left for an hour thinking I possibly booked a service that was a scam and no drivers were coming, though this did not turn out to be the case. I eventually reached the office manager who told me that sometimes these things just happen and nothing can be done to remedy the situation. If considering these movers, please just keep in mine, this service was not worth the cost. Partially because the movers were late; partially because when I called the office to address my complaint on this, I received little concern; also partially because I booked this service seeing it cost the same rate as or slightly more expensive than other moving services (I booked it thinking I would be getting better movers). Instead I received sub-par customer service and late movers.

Dishonest and unreliable! I dont think i could have gone with a WORSE business. I made the mistake of using this company because they were offering a groupon. My purpose in hiring a moving company was to transport a kitchen full of cupboards and two rather large granite island tops from the home of someone who was remodeling, to ours, about an hour away. I was assured at the time of scheduling that the granite would pose no problem at all. I also stressed the importance of them arriving on time, since we only had a small window in which the owner of the home would be able to meet us. We even went as far as to call two times the morning of, to make sure they were still running on time! Well the time of the appointment came and went and the skinny wimps were nowhere to be found, and they conveniently stopped answering their phone! The owner of the home was kind enough to let us stay, even though she had to leave. almost two hours later they finally answered the phone, only to inform us it would still be a few more hours before they could be there. To make a long story short, they did eventually arrive, 7 HOURS LATE! As if that wasn't bad enough, they took one look at the granite and said "we arent moving that", and then proceeded to load all the cabinets in the dark since the sun had long since set and there was no power to the house as it was being remodeled. Once finished loading the cabinets, they went to close up the truck, only to find their lift battery was dead! The owner actually had the gall to ask my wife to hook up her hybrid to the truck to try to power the lift on the back! Again, in an effort to shorten the story, it was almost 10 PM at this point and the kids where beyond tired. We left, assuming they would figure something out and deliver the cabinets the next morning as promised. We found out later that they simply drove the truck from Draper west valley with the back open and our cabinets stacked up to the very back! The cabinets were eventually delivered WELL past the time promised and we discovered that no moving blankets were used to protect them, many were scratched badly (remember they were all stacked in there in the dark and after a very long day), and a few drawers were broken entirely. We are missing an entire cabinet! For all we know it fell out during the drive the night before! After we thought the ordeal was finished, we found out later that Lisa, the owner of the business, charged us for the time she was stuck at the house with a broke down truck (how was that our fault). I tried calling the skinny wimp corporate office to complain and start an insurance claim for the damaged cabinets and was promptly told that Lisa owned the franchise and could do what she wants. She has not answered, or returned a single call since that second day, and i cant even get a claim started! This has been the worst experience i can imagine! Our once beautiful cabinets are now scratched and damaged and we have absolutely no recourse other than to take her to court! Do yourself a favor and go with another company. ANY other company! Even the corporate office couldn't be bothered to help! College Hunks ended up moving the granite for us no problem! I wish we had gone with them from the start!

Skinny Wimp Moving Company Damaged Goods I am writing this review for my 83 year old mother-in-law. This is a terrible moving company. My mother-in-law had damages to her personal property, an expensive Hi-Wheel line trimmer went missing and appears to have been stolen, and the movers moved her in two days, not one day as per the moving contract. My mother-in-law hired Skinny Wimp Movers of 6090 Crater Lake Ave/Central Point, Medford, Oregon on Apr. 16, 2018 for her moving job on April 28, 2018 from Grants Pass Oregon to White City Oregon. The moving company provided a two-man crew, plus one that stayed about three hours. Skinny Wimp Movers did not complete the move in one day as contracted. The movers did not have a big enough truck to move all of her belongings in one trip per her contract, her one day moving trip turned into a two day moving trip. She was supposed to be out of the house that day, because of this she had to arrange to stay a day longer at the old house with the home owners because of Skinny Wimp Movers schedule. The movers showed up the next day to complete the move. Skinny Wimp Movers supplied no wardrobe boxes. They sent a man to the U Haul Dealer and purchased three boxes, which was insufficient. She had to ask her neighbors to help move the rest of her clothing to the new house using garbage bags. Skinny Wimp Movers used her dining room table as a work station without her permission, and without using any protective cover. They scratched her wooden dining room table in the process. My mother-in-law specifically asked that three pieces of equipment be left at her original home, they were being given to the new owners by her as part of the home sale. The movers put one of the three pieces of equipment, her expensive professional style Hi-Wheel line trimmer worth $400 or more, in the moving van and it was driven to her new home in White City, Oregon. She advised the crew that the line trimmer needed to be returned to her original home on April 29, the second day of the one day move. The Hi-Wheel line trimmer was not delivered back to her original home and she has not seen it since. She believes this item was stolen from her in the process of the move. My mother-in-law sent two letters on May 16 and May 20 2018 to the moving company seeking recompense for damages to her belongings, payment for the missing line trimmer, and poor service, and as of yet she has not received a reply. She sent additional letters and still has not received a reply. She would not recommend this moving company due to their lack of organization and poor service.

Don't EVER Use Them!!! If I could give zero stars I would. We moved from AZ to SC. We wrapped & boxed all our stuff except Master BR furniture, formal DR, formal LRM. Everything WE boxed made it. I had a conversation with the young man about a small antique table that was a favorite of mine and asked him to wrap it well and take special care. I watched him walk out of the house with it.That table never arrived and they denied they had it. They had no one else's furniture on the truck. They never covered my DR table (I have photos of all damaged furniture) and it needed repair to the tune of $900 (just for the table). They didn't know how to wrap the grandfather clock. My husband provided thin laminate to put on top of the blanketed glass but they never covered the top which was damaged. The intricate feet on my curio cabinet were never covered and got damaged. I had the furniture repair person fix all the damages. I won't go on but there was more damaged. It still makes me sick. I tried to speak with the owner Lance Clausen to no avail. He lives in CA.I don't think he was even told by the Phoenix office that I wanted to speak with him personally. But their mission of "honesty , integrity, and vigilantly protecting customer's belongings" is a LIE. Even though I had a bill for the repairs totalling over $1k, they would only pay $363. Just DON'T EVER USE THEM!! Skinny Wimp does not number and list each item. I think by not numbering and listing everything, Skinny Wimp can get away with denying something was on their truck, like my antique table. DON'T USE SKINNY WIMP!

Skinny Wimp Moving just moved my husband and I just moved from Dallas, Texas to South Carolina for retirement! We have moved multiple times before, but since we are getting older, we didn't want to have to worry about packing up our house and getting everything loaded onto a Uhaul. We called around and got a few quotes from a couple different companies. After speaking with Steve at Skinny Wimp Moving, we knew that they were the movers for us! They assured us that we would not have to lift a finger, and we were not disappointed!

I recently moved with Skinny Wimp Moving. Now, I really do not know much about moving. I have done it a few time, but I was still married and did not have much say in the matter. This time, I had to plan it all myself and I really did not want anything to go wrong. A colleague had mentioned they knew about this company, but had not used them before. I decided to take a leap of faith and go with them. The team that showed up was very friendly and swift. When they arrived, they introduced themselves and explained everything they would be doing. They move very fast, which is both good and bad. I was not expecting everything to go to plan, as it did, so I had to get my sister to accept my delivery while I was driving!. They really were fantastic.

We called Skinny Wimp Moving and immediately decided to go with them over any one else we spoke to because their prices were competitive. Every interaction with their office was professional and they promptly answered all of our questions and concerns. They did not complain once when we continued to revise our inventory list and packing. The actual moving crew was also very professional and they were neatly dressed. This company is very well ran and we would use them again!

I used Skinny Wimp Moving a few weeks ago and I can not say enough good things about the crew that moved me. They really were the best! They arrived on time and immediately went to work. They were kind and professionally packed and loaded everything in a short time. My cost ended up being less than I expected due to their quick workers and I am very happy about that. I would highly recommend this company and if I need to move again I will be using them.

Skinny Wimp Moving exceeded all of my expectations! Ruben and Pam were great to work with and they really did help put my mind at ease. They arrived on time for pickup and kept me informed throughout the move. They provided delivery updates a few days ahead of time down to the hour they expected to arrive. I have moved multiple times and this company really went above and beyond to ensure I was a happy customer. Their pricing is also very reasonable. I will be using them from now on as well as recommending them to family and friends.

Skinny Wimp Moving provided a phenomenal service. I cannot even begin to explain how smooth my move was thanks to this outstanding company. The movers were awesome, they barely took one break on moving day, handled my items carefully and used only quality packing supplies. They arrived fully equipped and prepared. At this point I think that nothing can go wrong with them. With such experience and expertise they are the most reliable movers I’ve ever met. They even offered to dismantle some of my expensive furniture pieces. Just keep up the good work! Hopefully other people will have an amazing service as well.

Skinny Wimp Moving did a fantastic job moving my belongings to Minnesota. Not only were they punctual, but also showed a great deal of resourcefulness while moving my large sofa. They managed to get my sofa into the apartment through the balcony door. They really cared about the customer satisfaction and did their best to do everything in a quick and efficient manner. I would recommend them to everyone I know. I hope all their clients will have just as amazing experience.
