“ I had a super short notice move (two days!!!) because I was under the impression I could handle it myself. But then I threw my back out and I still hadn't even packed yet. I got a quote from Seka for a two stop move, one in bushwick, one in east Williamsburg to a new bushwick location. The quote was extremely reasonable especially since I needed packing as well. Vasil & the two other men that packed me up did an amazing job and they were extremely fast! They were super friendly and asked me questions about all of my belongings. And took care of my boyfriends apartment as well. Thankfully our new apartment has an elevator so unloading was the easiest part. It ended up taking almost three more hours than the original estimate and the final total was not far off from the original quote! “ After an agreement with another moving company fell through I was worried I would be unable to find movers for my narrow designated moving later in the week. Fortunately I was able to get things squared away after speaking to George. On moving day, Bacho, George, & Otto showed up wishing the designated time. I initially met Bacho who went over the contract agreement with me. We also went over what needed to be moved and the guys quickly set off and did what they needed to do. They took extra care in wrapping and transporting delicate items. And loaded up a two bedroom duplex in about an hour. By the time we got to the destination there was less than an hour to move everything in. Bacho told me to rest assured and that they would get it done. And they did. I would definitely recommend them and they would be the first i would call when I move again. Thanks guys.”

“ Thank goodness for Yelp leading me to Seka Moving!! I moved from Harlem brownstone to a Brooklyn co-op and from start to finish I was beyond impressed with Seka. I reached out for a quote through Yelp and had the absolute pleasure of speaking with Luis who reached out to me same day. He was so personable over the phone, talked through my move and inventory - and issued a legit quote via email rather promptly. It was super affordable and with such rave reviews here on Yelp, I was comfortable with them (having reached out to other movers for quotes). The day before my move Seka called to confirm date time and address. The day of my move the movers showed up on time and ready to go. GG AND HIS CREW WERE AMAZING!!! I literally cannot emphasize how great they were. Efficient, very careful of my belongings and kept me super informed throughout the process. At my new apartment it turned out that building decided to inspect the elevator and shut it down (of all days) and GG WAS NOT PHASED. He was super calm about it and his crew just commenced unloadingin the lobby area - basically called an audible and it worked. I would've panicked but no need - by the time they finished unloading, the elevator inspection was done and his crew started moving things into my new place. GG and his crew had everything unloaded and placed exactly where I wanted it faster than I could've imagined. I cannot recommend them and Seka moving enough. A++++”

“ I can't remember the estimators name unfortunately but he was precisely on time and very personable. Chatted as we walked through the apartment and was clear about estimation process. He sent the email the same afternoon and texted with me to see if I had questions and estimate was right on target. Movers in the past will usually be very reasonable at this phase and then pull the bait and switch on moving day. Well.... that didn't happen at all. George and his team showed up again exactly on time. Was courteous and had the exact same paperwork and estimate as I was told he would. They even add a suggested gratuity which i appreciated because i had no idea what was appropriate. The team moved quickly and quietly and treated my families things with care. Padded and wrapped everything and even took time to let me know if a screw was missing before they wrapped. The drop off was next and it was the same, quick, quiet and with care. Asking which room to set up what and they did. Before we knew it, it was over. Not a knock or scratch anywhere. It was excellent. Thanks to the team at SEKA and will definitely recommend.”

“ This is my fourth time moving in NYC in four years, so I'd like to believe that I'm an experienced mover. I've had some issues with movers in the past, so I was very selective with who I wanted to go with. With a list of about 10 movers, I ended up selecting SEKA due to their past positive reviews as well as with the communication estimating the move. I can say that they exceeded my expectations. 1. Communication was great - Alex and Luis estimated my move. I gave them a spreadsheet inventory of my furniture and boxes, noted that my move would be a 5 floor walk up. They estimated 4 hours with 4 movers. Having moved before, I realize this is on the high side because most moves I've had been 3 hours or less. But this was the first time I had a 5 floor walkup, so I could understand the extra hour estimate. 2. On Time - I've had movers come late before, and this is really annoying since I'm taking time off from work. But SEKA gave a three hour window in the morning and arrive right in the middle of that window. 3. Professional - They cleared my studio apartment in about 45 minutes. This apartment was on the ground floor so it was not so difficult. But I have some heavy furniture (e.g. double dresser) and they moved everything with ease. They even moved some items that I had not properly packed (thank you, thank you!!). 4. Efficient - Upon arrival, the lead mover (Hamid) made a recommendation to bring on a fifth mover. He said it would speed the move and would be more cost efficient in the end. He was right. The 5th mover made a big difference. Hamid was absolutely amazing also, he took a leadership role and he strategically placed every person so as to create a beeline from the truck up to the 5th floor walkup! In the end, the move took 3 hours (1 hour less than what was estimated). I did have to pay for an extra mover, but again, it made the overall cost less. I can't recommend these guys enough. Everyone was so courteous with my furniture. Even after inspecting the truck at the end of the move to find any last pieces, I missed a small painting. They found the small painting and brought it back to me. Some notes that other reviewers have mentioned: * They require a deposit - I didn't mind because I was able to put it on my credit card (thus trackable, and I requested a receipt) * They do charge a truck fee - but when you add it all up, the total cost was more efficient that the other movers I researched. * They do charge for each additional person added to the estimate - but for me, it was all worth it to save on the hourly cost.”

They were so nice and professional, showed up on time, and finished the job in a reasonable amount of time, especially considering there was some traffic and the move happened on the hottest day we've had thus far. The price was also extremely reasonable, considering I was getting offers that were close to $1000. (We were quoted at around $630 for our Queens to Brooklyn 1-bedroom apartment move). The only reason I can't give them 5 stars was that the person who took my information down during the booking process messed up my name, email address, and other aspects of the move multiple times. It took almost a week to resolve, which isn't ideal, but the move itself was truly wonderful. I would definitely consider booking again.”

“ The move itself went very well. I was moving from NYC to Santa Monica. Luis at Seka moving is a pleasure to work with and my furniture came on time and none of it was damaged. The movers were all very nice and professional which is why I gave five stars. However, there was a miscommunication with payment method when the movers came to Santa Monica which was annoying and took up my time when I was busy at work. I had agreed with Luis to pay credit card and it was written in the contract but the movers wanted cash. Also, I had paid the movers to pack and they forgot to pack one drawer at my apt. They told me to ship it over and they'd pay for it so I did and my stuff broke anyways and it took over a month and many many follow ups (calls and emails) to get reimbursed for a very small amount.”

“ It took me a while to review this company and the service I received especially when I used their services about 2 months or so ago. First, the staff on the phone is WAY friendlier than the people who actually move the stuff for you. The truck we got wasn't branded at all, it looked like a dumpster truck with no signs of a moving company nothing like the photos shown on Yelp. My move was scheduled to be 4-5 hours, we were moving out from a studio to a two bedroom. Everything seemed that it was going to be great, until moving day. They showed up late telling me that they couldn't find parking. Waited 2 hours to find parking while my husband kept asking them why they didn't use that time to start bringing things downstairs or pack the things they offered to pack like TVs and things like that. Instead the 3 men stay chatting in the truck. The main guy said that if they got a ticket we will have to pay for it. I was never aware of that and I wasn't willing to pay for it anyway. For some reason they already got a ticket when they found parking and it was displayed on the window of the truck. The main guy was rude with my husband but not with me. The other one I think his name was Ross he was super cool and friendly. Always talking to us about guitars and music. A 4-5 hours move took 8.5 hours. They didn't have to pack any boxes. What they packed were things like rug, matress and tables. I packed most of the small furniture and books myself previously. I told them to skip the assembly part after arriving to the final destination. I would be the one putting the legs on the sofas, unwrapping the TVs so they can take their blankets and stuff back, etc... They broke the legs of the sofa which I noticed afterwards, and a floor lamp that they kept in the truck until I have to call them before they left because they "forgot". He brought it upstairs with excuses, it was a cheap lamp so I didn't care. On top of the bad experience hard time and long day, I gave them more than 20% tips, and then he became nice. It was too late, I'm not planning on hiring or recommending this company ever again.”

However in their efficiency they neglected to put my bed frame back together properly and in addition they lost the majority of screws used to originally put it together. They just threw the pieces together but didn't screw things down and now I need to buy new screws and put my bed frame back together even though I explicitly requested furniture reassembly. I guess their definition of furniture assembly doesn't include actually screwing things together. I would highly advise against using them if you need furniture assembled or disassembled.
