That morning, they called to give me the option for the movers to show up a little early and get a head start. Once they arrived they quickly and carefully wrapped everything, and moved it down 2 flights of stairs. For any small boxes or fragile items, they checked with me first for how I'd like it moved. Update : I was very happy in the past with San Diego Small Moves . I contracted them 3 times in the past 7 months . Sadly, that was not the case today. This week I had yet another move that I was arranging . Moving Mom into assisted care . As you can imagine it's a stressful time . I contacted Small Moves on Tuesday . They quickly replied confirming they would move Mom on Friday for 280$ basically a bedroom set and a few other items. We have packed everything and have it staged in our garage. Thursday at 4:15 I receive a call from San Diego small moves . Of course , I think they are just calling to confirm the time/date for the NEXT day. Nope ! They were calling to tell me that they Mis-Quoted ! The move would now be 480$ !!! Again , this is the day before ! They tell me that my location is far from them . Again , they moved Moms furniture in to the same location , less than 6 months ago . The last three moves were the same price that I was quoted for this move. Had they quoted me 480$ when confirmed I would have declined and had plenty of time to find an alternative. But the day before ? At 4:15 in the afternoon . Seems to me this company has no integrity. I received an email from the owner explaining that the company would loose money , if the completed my move . I will NEVER recommend San Diego Small Moves to anyone . Be very careful, they completely let me down .”

Alex & Juan and Small Moves ROCKS!!! Alex and Juan and SD Small Moves was everything you'd want in a moving company. Their website was super easy and helpful and booking was fast. They called 20 min before arriving at the scheduled time and literally hit the ground running from the moment they pulled up. For any web based company, one's experience is really dependenpt upon the quality of the people who show up to do the job. Alex and Juan were A+. Asked good questions and took great care with everything they were moving (furniture and boxes). All furnishings were draped in padded blankets AND shrink wrapped; they could have "chinced" given we were only going 2 miles away. But they didn't. They moved fast at both ends; set up EVERYTHING; gave us time to replace furniture in one room. We had the job done to utmost satisfaction in about 2/3's the time I was expecting. I looked at a lot of companies, including some direct competitors and some that were a tad less expensive. However I was concerned about the spotty reviews when it came to the quality of the movers. I was looking for a local moving company and when I read a few reviews on Google and Yelp I saw Small Movers. I took my chance and called the number advertised. I liked that the representative was not about telling me what she could not do but what she and the company could do and that is unusual. I was able to schedule my move date and get an exact quote for the job and there were no additional fees like (additional trucks, mileage, ect.). The lack of being focused on over charging me and focusing on my move being organized and efficient was why I hired them and why I wanted to write this review. Do not go to any other company to move anything you need moved from one location to another. Although the name of the company suggests that they move small professional offices or just move small furniture from one location to another. Please just call and let the representative know the date you need to move and answer the general questions. The lead of the company Alex will more than liking be moving you but know matter who has been assigned to your move you are in great hands. They were on time with the necessary amount of trucks, green wrap, protective blankets, there out dollies and tools. That day I learned that there is a method to packing, moving items into a truck, and getting it to the desired location and still remain in your budget and agreed upon price. The terms and conditions you receive states that you are not to interrupt the movers and you do not want to go they can move your items quickly which is another way the company shows that are not trying to add hours just to make money from you. In general, I felt like I had family members helping me move and that was a blessing because moving is stressful with coordinating other necessary things regarding the place you are heading to (i.e. a new home or a new business office). You can’t lose anything by calling and experiencing the best moving company in the area. I plan to use them again and continue to spread the word. We thought we would need to remove the front door off the hinges in order for them to it get out . However we did not need to do that as Alex took measurements and knew exactly how to move it out without the need to remove the door! They made it look easy. They wrapped the coach well so it would not be damaged in the move. They were prompt and reasonable. I would recommend them and would definitely use them again.”

It's almost 11am. And believe it or not, Alex and Luis finished our move already. We agreed for a 9am start. Alex placed a courtesy call at 8:30. They rang the bell at 8:45. And for the following two hours, they hustled. All furniture was shrink wrapped. Everything was handled with care and dispatch. The entire process was smooth and no nonsense from their reply to my bid request through the last item off the truck. No devious tricks like the unprofessional ones: no dawdling, no double drive time charges. They stated the cost for minimum two hours and incremental additional time. So I knew before we started what to expect. And they met my expectations. We moved items into medium size self-storage unit so we intend to use San Diego Small Moves again in 7-10 days when our new place is available.One less thing to worry about!”
