Originally founded in Roseville, Ohio in 1917 to operate as a regular route carrier, RMX served a thriving pottery industry located in the Crooksville – Roseville area. RMX ran a regular route with scheduled stops between McLuney and Zanesville, Ohio via State Route 93. Shipments of pottery were gathered from the various manufacturers located along the route and were tendered to the railroad in Zanesville for delivery to destinations as far away as the west coast. Long haul common carrier service as we know it today was not yet in existence!

In order for a company to succeed in Logistics, I am of the opinion transparency must be facilitated throughout, management, customer, carrier and co-workers. Teamwork is a must. Management is under par in my experience. Co-workers are wonderful. A plethora of long time veterans. Loved making things happen for both the customers and the carriers. Challenges were welcome and victory enjoyed once conquered.”

A typical day would start off by calling each driver that is either picking up or still in-transit and relaying that information to each individual customer so they have the updates they require. After that, entering in new orders and getting to work on repetitively calling carriers to complete each order in a priority-based manner (Morning picks ups need to be worked on first as opposed to afternoon pickups). Indications of a successful broker is being able to complete this process in an expedited fashion, faster the better. An unbelievable amount of attention to detail is required to successfully finish this. Afterwords, if the orders for the day and next day are complete, cold calling new clients and/or creating new documents and PDF's for smoother operations would be next on the agenda. The hardest part of this job is the management team.”
