We had the best experience in what must be the worst conditions for a mover: 90+ temperatures, humid, without air conditioning. The estimator, Mike, provided a very exact estimate, we were able to schedule in a timely manner, and the office staff were very responsive and professional. On moving day, the movers showed up on time, and immediately got to work. We had them pack our kitchen and it was AMAZING. Everything arrived without a chip or dent. They helped boxing things that were difficult to pack, like mirrors, picture frames and lamp shades. The foreman was very pleasant and easy going, and he seemed to take pleasure in organizing the oddest shaped furniture in the truck. The men spent hours carrying furniture and boxes in the hot sun and I never once heard a complaint. They helped me with anything I asked and were quick to offer helpful solutions when we were exhausted. Unpacking at the new house went super fast and everything was placed exactly where I wanted it quickly and efficiently. I’m honestly very impressed with their services and I don’t think I could have given them a big enough tip. I’ve moved several times from Bucks County, Philadelphia and Delaware County and this was the best moving experience I’ve ever had. I will definitely rely on them in the future.”

I did a virtual tour of our home with the sales person. The Sales person then gave us an estimate of 3 men and a 26’ truck for 8 hrs. They were scheduled to arrive between 8:00 and 9:00 they arrived at 10:00am and left our new home at 2:00am after having to make a second trip. It took them twice as long as the estimate and my Brother made 3 trips with his 24’ trailer. Very disappointed with this experience would not recommend!”

It would be hard to put into words how horrible my moving experience with O'Brien's was. Let's just say that one of the movers they brought in was wearing hospital scrubs and sneezed several times in my house in the middle of the COVID pandemic. And that WASN'T even close to the worst thing that happened! Do yourself a favor, DON'T USE O'BRIEN's. And when you provide feedback to Allied, they will just shrug their shoulders and say that the move was with O'Brien's and Allied had nothing to do with it. O'Brien's only cares about one thing - cashing your check. Everything else, like moving your household goods, is merely an inconvenience to them. Now you know what I wish I had known.”

I got a few estimates from local businesses based on yelp and google reviews. After having a nightmare moving experience 6 years ago, I was very cautious. I stayed away from the Newark based companies. O’Brien got my business because I felt that the estimate was realistic. It wasn’t the cheapest but I didn’t feel pressured and I knew we had a large enough truck to get the job done. The final bill was about 10% over the estimate, so not bad. We had 20 tons of stuff!!!! They were responsive to my calls anytime I had questions. The driver showed up on time and the crew was respectful, careful and efficient. When we got the NC the only damage was a chair leg which he was able to repair to my satisfaction. Everything else was in the same shape as it was when we left NJ. I would definitely use and recommend O’Brien in the future.”

The initial experience with this moving company was good until the day we had to move. It was the worst experience ever. They cancelled on us the morning of our move due to inclement weather the day before. Bare in mind that the weather the morning of the move was clear. No one seemed to care that we had to move out that day and move into our new home. They said there was nothing they could do for us except to schedule us a couple weeks later. Seriously!!?? This was supposed to be an exciting experience moving into our new house and O'Brien's made it the worst experience ever. I have moved more than a dozen times in my career and used movers all over the country, O'Brien's was far and away the worst I've used. Our move from Easton to Philadelphia included 3 bedroom sets, living room, dining table and chairs and 18 boxes. We moved all of the other contents ourselves. They arrived at 9:00am and took 6 hours to load the truck. They didn't do it room by room, and created havoc at the delivery side when we couldn't get rooms together or find pieces of furniture. At 11:30 they were still trying to deliver. We finally just had them pack our front room and just leave. The crew was ill prepared, had no direction, acted unprofessionally and did foolish things that damaged our walls and furniture.”

Prior to an Agreement with O'Briens for their moving services, Karen visited our house and prepared a complete moving estimate for us. Karen was professional and top notch! O'Brien's Moving & Storage came highly recommended by a friend who used them for a couple of moves in recent years. Unfortunately our experience did not measure up to expectations. The move out of Jersey in July seem to be fine at the time - the crew was pleasant, but their packing turned out to be haphazard. They apparently spent most of their time marking each of our cataloged possessions as scratched almost in anticipation of frustrating our eventual damage claim. Large rugd were not properly rolled up and our furniture was mishandled in predation for storage. Who packs runner rugs in with your couches? One of our glass breakfast shelves that they "professionally" packed arrived shattered in a hundred pieces and we are still trying to locate our shorter Breakfront glass shelves. Supposedly it's in one of the dining room boxes but yet to be found. The wood shelves to the Breakfront were never labeled. The top wood decorative piece to the Breakfront was completely misplaced and instead of the company's management taking responsibility for errors in the move they blamed their contractors. Actually the fact that they use contractors instead of employees was a total surprise since our salesperson told us the move would be done by O'Brien employees. Furniture was damaged in the move out and move in. I had asked to speak with owner of the moving company, but I was told by staff that the owner focused on the bigger picture and does not speak with customers. I promised a customer service representative this online review so the owner could hear from an actual customer about a miserable moving experience and poor customer service. We have moved over a half dozen times in 30 years and this move ranks almost dead last. (In all fairness there was one other Allied franchise move that was actually worse.) Oh, I forgot to mention that well in advance of our move I asked for floor protectors for our brand new floors and somehow that was never communicated to the mover. I regret our decision to use this company.”

They forgot pieces of my bed inside the elevator of my older apartment and I HAD TO GO BACK THERE and collect the pieces. We recently hired O'Brien's Moving & Storage to do two jobs for us. From the start it was a total disaster. Our appraiser Carmen walked through both houses and said he would give us an estimate. After calling multiple times and leaving messages we finally got a call back with a verbal estimate. No written estimate ever arrived. Both jobs were within a few miles of each other and required overnight storage so the houses could be cleaned before we moved in. My movers scratched, chipped, or dented my bed frame, dresser, kitchen table, and office furniture. They also broke several dishes and small kitchen appliances. Nothing was wrapped prior to transport despite the movers promising to do so. Two of the three movers were brand new and taking instructions from the "experienced" mover who mostly remained in the truck for the majority of the move. When the damage was reported, they said they would send me a claim form but because I hadn't purchased extra insurance I would only be reimbursed 60 cents per pound. Funny thing is they NEVER offered any type of insurance. Thanks Carmen, you are completely incompetent. Whether or not that is by design or by lack of caring has yet to be determined... The second house movers appeared to be much more professional and experienced but again, several dishes and glasses were broken. Additionally, 230 dollars was stolen from a purse and all of our silver went missing. We called and reported this to O'Brien's but they said "they don't deal with theft, call the police." The. They charged us almost DOUBLE the verbal estimate which was clearly poorly crafted. All in all, it was a terrible experience that ultimately cost us approximately 4000 dollars plus replacement costs for multiple pieces of furniture. I would never recommend them to anyone. Save yourself the hassle and move yourself. I thought this would be easier but I couldn't have been more wrong.”

Less than 1 star...we hired them for a 2 part move and for storage. Items were severely damaged or flat out lost! The claims process was unfair, lengthy and ultimately an insult for the pieces that can never be replaced. Terrible, unprofessional. Hope whoever ended up with our stuff is enjoying it. Meanwhile we're left with a bunch of high end, damaged garbage that we apparently wasted money storing and moving to our new house. We were told our belongings would be in individual storage pods. If that was the case, why would so much have gone "missing"? Also furniture that should have been dismantled for transport was not and that ultimately caused its destruction. Also both the house we moved from and the one we moved into were damaged (big dings/chucks out of walls) and their movers didn't acknowledge the damage. This company is a joke! Take your business elsewhere. I tried posting the multiple pics of the damage but Yelp seems to limit them.”

My girlfriends 82 year mother had moved on July 13 using O'Briens. When the salesperson came to the house, the subject of insurance came up. Since we originally anticipated a point A to point B move, we didn't think we'd need the insurance. The salesperson agreed saying something like "Things rarely happen". Unfortunately the move into the new place was delayed a week so it had to go into storage. It wasn't a ton of stuff since she got rid of a lot of her belongings knowing she was moving into a one bedroom with not much storage. Long story short, they lost a chest of drawers and damaged a freshly painted wall. We filed a claim with Sam Bruce, the claims processor. When I spoke to Sam, I asked him how they lose a 5' tall chest of drawers. His response was "How do we lose ANYTHING?" Are you kidding me?? After a few phone calls it was determined that the crew that moved her had two moves that day and the dresser might have gotten put into another bin. Guess what? It's now September 22nd and they still can't find the dresser. I left a voicemail for Sam but of course he hasn't responded. I'm sure that they flawlessly move 95% of their customers but in this case, they dropped the ball. The items that were in the dresser are irreplaceable. Their attitude sucks and I'd never use them again. Because we didn't take the insurance, they're only liable for $. 60 a lb.”

THE ABSOLUTE WORST! They ruined all of our furniture! Every piece they touched is damaged. Over 7,000 dollars in damage and offered $357 as a settlement. It was all brand new furniture. The movers showed up late in a smashed van, took many breaks, smoked cigarettes and did not wear masks even when asked.”
