A negative experience. A bookcase was destroyed and I was informed that it would be repaired. The company apparently works with a furniture restorer. Not only did I not receive a response from the restorer, I never received any kind of response from Mr Mover. Response to owner’s comments: You mention “ We did give the bookcase to Woodlanders to repair but unfortunately we are at the mercy of working within their guidelines and schedule. “ THE BOOKCASE IS AND HAS BEEN IN MY POSSESSION SINCE THE DAMAGE AND IT HAS NOT BEEN GIVEN TO WOODLANDERS.”

I researched Angie's list for movers and came across two that I felt seemed the best. One never responded, but Mr. Mover of Ohio responded promptly. The guy (owner's husband I believe) came out to give an estimate. His hours were super flexible, which was great for us because we had already taken off a lot of work due to building a new home. He was on time, courteous and obviously very knowledgable. He was able to estimate all of the expenses just by eyeballing each room/closet. The company does a "guaranteed not to exceed" estimate and he gave us one at $1800. For us, this was a great estimate. We had 2000 sq ft house with a shed and full garage. Plus they supplied us with plenty of boxes, tape and paper stuffing, which they dropped off at our convenience closer to move day. On the day of the move, four guys showed up with two trucks right on schedule. All four were super friendly and personable, although very hard workers. They got started immediately and were able to pack those trucks so methodically. Nothing appears to have been damaged in the move, which doesn't surprise me based on the care in which they handled everything. They also do a wonderful job of preparing the job site- laying carpet and plastic down as to not ruin any flooring. Even with those things down, I noticed them often checking their shoes throughout the afternoon to make sure. Anyway, they put stuff back together for us, placed it exactly how we wanted it and were very fast in doing so. I only saw them take one well deserved 5 minute break the entire 6.5 hour day. We sent them off with pizza and I believe they were headed to another job. These guys do not mess around. The final cost came out to $1687--great that it was under estimate but so impressive that the original estimate was so spot on.”

I used Mr Mover in the past and the movers have always been very courteous and professional. The office staff have also been great and easy to work with. I would give their movers a 5 star rating. Here is my issue with Mr Mover. I had 85 boxes to move to a location about 12 mins away. I was told it was $180 an hour. The move took 45 mins total. My bill was $360.00. I had a check ready to go for $180.00. When I called the office she stated that we always charge for 1/2 an hour drive time to the job and 1/2 drive time when leaving the job (which was not stated in her email - just $180 an hour). So that means that the person at the other job is also paying 1/2 an hour for the drive to their home or office. I had a quote for $250 for the entire job and I am kicking myself for not going with the other company. Call around if you have a smaller job and do not pay the 1/2 an hour drive time when they leave your place. That will be a double payment because the other client is paying a 1/2 an hour drive time to get them there.”

This company was probably one of, if not the worse moving experience I have came across Ohio. The lack of communication, professionalism, and organization was shocking. I had called 2 months in advance to set up a moving week. Specific weeks, days, and hours were given well in advance. I was told someone would be sent to my location to view what material I had to be moved. The gentleman who showed up came 2 weeks later as I had to call back to ensure someone was actually coming out. In other words, they forgot I had made these arrangements with them. As I called 2 months prior for these arrangements, I was thanked and was appreciated I called so far in advance because they had nothing booked for the week I needed. A month out from my dates needed, I was then told they were slammed and could not offer their services. The lack of communication and organization is disappointing. I do not recommend this company and highly suggest looking somewhere else.”

Not only the service, but the professionalism of this company was beyond disappointing. This was for a long-distance move from Columbus to Charlotte, NC. I originally went with Mr. Mover even though their quote was significantly higher than most, because of the service they promised. Their movers, not contracted help, would load the truck, stay with the truck, and unload the next morning. The day before the move I had a walk through with the driver. Everything was packed. We reviewed every item. He took pictures and notated everything. I had extra boxes and packing material as I had a few questions about how to pack some large art pieces, mirrors, televisions, etc. He confirmed that these items would be bubble wrapped, blanketed and propped up in the truck and I didn't need to do anything additional. Wednesday morning, 4 movers showed up and they loaded the truck. Not before they began taking personal items out of my dressers and armoires because they were too heavy. I felt violated they were going through these items despite me asking them on multiple occasions of the furniture needed to be emptied and they assured me it didn't. Fast forward to drop off the next morning. Only the driver came to Charlotte. They contracted local help, who never showed. The driver had to get his computer out to "post for additional help". One additional mover showed up 2 hours later. This was a 5k# move up a third floor walk-up with steep stairs. The company was informed of this. This was at least. 4-man job.”
