Movage Moving Reviews

★★★★★
I've moved about 6 times in the past 15 years & this was by far the best moving experience I've ever had...EVER!! Luca & George made setting up my move easy. They were a pleasure to work with prior to the move. Levert, Rich & Frank (the guys who moved us) were AWESOME! They showed up early, wrapped all of our items, packed up the truck & then unloaded everything into the exact spot they needed to be in at our new place. They worked as a team, were pleasant, professional & gave us complete confidence in their ability to get the job done. They are way more affordable than the alternative & don't sacrifice quality or good customer service for the bargain cost. Not one of my items was broken or scratched; and, they went above & beyond to make the day of our move worry free. I can't imagine using any other team for a move. They are the TRUTH!! Don't waste time doing research on all of the others...the guys at Movage are exactly who you're looking for on the day of your move!

I recently used Movage for our move from NYC to Rutherford, NJ. Jeff was super professional and polite from the first phone call and through the entire process. He gave me a really fair and reasonable quote. The moving crew was also friendly and efficient. Would definitely use for future moves. Highly recommend.

From start to finish, these guys NAILED IT. I requested a quote on Yelp and Luca called me in mere minutes. We went through the typical mover survey (they ask you to name all of the items in the apartment and give other pertinent details, like how many flights of stairs and where you're headed). Luca's quote was among the lowest of all those I contacted (as a matter of fact, another firm quoted me double even though I was referred to them by a friend). I had to adjust the move-in date at one point (FYI people, if you are moving to a newer elevator building - especially a condo building - moving on the weekend is typically verboten). This was no problem. I also had a bunch of questions along the way (like COI, whether or not to buy a mattress cover - which they provide) and Luca always responded within a reasonable time frame (even on a Sunday!). I never met Luca in person, but I have to say, I got the best vibes from him (Luca, hi, you rock). Then came moving day. I was a little worried that the movers would secretly hate me for being THAT CHICK with the fifth floor walk-up move, however, Shawn, Angel, and Abraham made me feel no shame. They were absolutely lovely and worked their bums off to get my furniture wrapped meticulously and down the dreaded four flights. They crushed the move out on both timing and care. The move in portion was a little easier on them (moved into an elevator building - yay!) and they did a wonderful job here. Put my bed back together, put all the bins in the correct places, and did it all with a smile. When it was time to tip them, it was no question that I would give more than the typical 20% (actually, it was my Mom who said "don't you dare cheap out on these guys") which I was happy to do. Sometimes, when service is so good, you are joyed to pay for the good work. That's what happened when I worked with Movage. Let the GOOD KARMA flow and work with them! Yaaaas!

We were extremely pleased with this company. We had a complicated downsizing move involving storage, a fussy coop management company, and a need to postpone the moving out and moving in days several times. Luca was so understanding and flexible about all of that. There was a minimal amount of damage, mostly to laminate vs wooden furniture. When there was damage to our very old food processor, Luca was agreeable to reimbursing us for half of it, on my suggestion. When our long lofabed fit into the service elevator but not into the room we needed it in, and i started to cry, Sean, the foreman, recommended a service that disassembles furniture and reassembles it after transferring rooms. We took his recommendation, and that worked out, too. All in all, better than most moving experiences we've ever had. Wendy K

Today I had the pleasure of having Shawn and his 2 man crew move my items from NYC to LA. Long distance moves can be stressful but this morning went beyond smooth and reduced my anxiety! First they were on time! Introduced themselves and walked me through their process and everything went exactly how they stated. Second; they moved my studio apartment under an hour!! They worked as a team and systematically!! They were friendly and I felt comfortable and at ease with them. I also appreciated how Shawn reassured me he was in charge of my items until they were placed on the truck in New Jersey! They wrapped and secured every item and did it with a smile. I can't say thank you enough. Hopefully I receive the same excellent service when my items arrive in Los Angeles! Thank you Shawn and crew!!

I used Movage for a cross-country move last year. I strongly considered Flat Rate and Atlas but went with Movage largely due to their price quote (competitive with Flat Rate and WAY less than Atlas), positive reviews, and good upfront conversations. If I had it to do over again I would have gone with a different mover. I used their packing service and assumed that would be the best way to protect my stuff, but when they arrived in my new location it was clear that they just did a careless packing job. Many things arrived messed up or destroyed (i.e. bent bicycle fork, sofa had no wrapping on the corners and the fabric was shredded off, etc.). It wasn't just one or two things but a dozen or so examples of truly poor wrapping/packing. The movers who unloaded the truck were apologetic but when I followed-up with the main office they weren't interested in addressing the damage. I had even paid extra for the expensive insurance and had my claim denied. So if you're considering them, good luck, but I'd look elsewhere.

Movage was great and easy to work with for my move from NYC to NJ. Max, Al, and Anthony were an A-team. From the beginning to the end, they were friendly and professional. I truly appreciated the care they took with ensuring my furniture was carefully packed and assembling everything as necessary. It was nice that they didn't mind moving existing furniture between rooms to accommodate the new stuff. As the foreman, Max explained the process well and walked me through each step. Al not only carried whole pieces of (LARGE) furniture by himself, but also arranged everything in my storage area in an extremely organized and delicate fashion that I really appreciate! Anthony can disassemble and assemble anything without any breakage! I would use them again and recommend the company to anyone considering their services.

Rude! Stuff works there is unbelievable rude! Don't come to this company! I did hear what did the guy said, where or when, he is starting to yell....!! What a ridiculous person and company!! Never use this company!!

Movage was great and easy to deal with. My wife set up the move logistics and was present for the estimate, and I was present for the move out process. Everything was very clear and there was no missed information because of this. Max the foreman and Al The Man were great at explaining everything and answering any questions I had. We had a few valuable pieces that were handled with great care. We also went over our initial estimate of boxes and it was no issue (we paid more) for them to adjust. I would recommend Movage for anyone looking for movers. They are professional and have the right people on the job. They also avoided any parking tickets while moving me!!

This was my first time moving with a moving company. I've lived in the same NYC apartment for 13 years and had accumulated high-quality, expensive furniture during that time. After hearing and reading horor stories about moves gone wrong, I was concerned my belongings wouldn't make it to New Jersey in the same condition. Thankfully, this was not the case with Movage! I got my quote from Luca, who was patient and understanding when I had questions and needed to adjust the date of the move. The morning of the move, I got a call from the moving team to let me know they were half an hour away. When Kenny, Joe, and Anthony arrived, they took an inventory of the apartment and explained the forms I needed to sign and reviewed any existing damage to the furniture. They were organized and moved quickly, each one of them seemed to have a unique role so no one was idle nor getting in one another's way. It was a hot and humid day, but they took it all in stride and cleared out the apartment, including the disassembly of my bed frame. When we got to NJ, they repeated the same procedure. They looked over the apartment, we talked about what furniture was going where and where I would like the boxes to be stacked. As they brought in the furniture, I had the oportunity to look everything over and clean those hard-to-reach spots. I got a phone call from the Movage to ensure that I was happy with the service I was receiving around this time, which was unexpected and even though I had nothing negative to say, made me feel like they really cared about my satisfaction. It started to pour about half-way through their unloading of the truck, but they smiled and kept working. I intentionally waited to write this review until I had gotten the chance to unpack all of the boxes (not one item was missing, broken or damaged) and look over the condition of the furniture as well as both apartments. There was one small issue with a light switch, which Luca was quick to resolve on the same day, and one area where the couch fabric was torn, but fortunately, it's in a place where no one will ever see it (the couch is massive and barely fit through the door). All in all, I would highly recommend this moving company and its staff to anyone who is looking for a friendly, careful, affordable, and quick move. Thank you Luca, Kenny, Joe, and Anthony for your help!

Since I posted my initial review several days ago, Bajo V., the company President, called me, ostensibly to discuss my concerns and address my unhappiness with Movage. He offered me $500.00 as compensation, which I never asked for, conditioned on my deleting my 1 star review and posting a 5 star review. I refused to do that. And Yelp's support website clearly states that businesses should not do this. Since my refusal, Bajo V. Has continued to email me to get me to change my review and also sign a release in which I agree not to post anything negative about my Movage experience. His last email suggested that I consider consulting legal counsel and that he would contact his lawyers if I don't capitulate. I will not be bullied or intimidated and I stand by my initial review. And I regret ever doing business with this company.

These guys are the movers of your dreams. I've used Movage twice, once for a move within NYC, and once for a move from NYC to another city several hours away. Both times they were perfect--very professional attitude, hard working, on time, and nothing at all broke in either move. I even have one piece of furniture that's tricky to move: a table made out of a single piece of glass. Each time they took great care of it. I couldn't have asked for more!

I had to move at the end of March during Coronavirus fears. Movage quoted me around $2700 for packing and moving. Given the virus and WFH orders etc. I asked them what steps their company was taking to ensure hygiene and safety - a pretty legitimate question in my opinion given the circumstances. In any case, the sales manager got very defensive and said that my "demand" was "ludicrous." He said I was a "difficult" person, said masks were difficult to find, and that he couldn't believe I would ask such a ludicrous question during these tough times. His tone completely changed and he got very angry and defensive, essentially yelling at me on the phone. It was a very bizarre reaction to a valid question. Needless to say I didn't use them. A friend recommended NY Nomads and they were incredible. They charged me 1900 for the same exact move ($800 of savings), assured me that their movers would have masks and gloves (which they did), and were efficient and timely. I would not recommend Movage - check out NY Nomads instead if you would like polite customer service and a reasonable price!

I had called Movage to get a quote for my move. Jeff was very professional and patient with dealing with the back and forth of my forgetting things on my itemized list to move. Luca called to confirm that my date was still scheduled and sent over Sean and his men first thing the next morning. Sean and his men made it look so easy. Unfortunately, we had a problem with my couch but these men tried every which way to work it out. It didn't make it through the door and I was credited the amount for the couch, they also helped getting the half they were able to get thru the door out to the garbage since it wasn't going with the move. The move was pretty quick and smooth in my eyes, start time of 9am and completed my move, (unpacked, set up of furniture) by 2 p.m. I honestly don't look forward to moving anytime soon in the near future, but would definitely recommend them to anyone who is planning to.

★★★★★
Movage just helped me and my family pull off our 2nd cross country move in little over a year. We got BURNED on the first move by an imposter moving company (Titan Moving and Storage) that is no longer in business or at least not under this name. So to say the least we were very circumspect in choosing a moving company for this 2nd go-around. We moved from NYC to central California and moved from a 2 bedroom apartment. We had over 40 medium boxes in addition to a host of other things (had stuff in storage while living in the apartment). Had snowboards, golf clubs, crib set, beds, multiple bins of children's toys, dressers, and book shelves. Titan the year prior had given us a quote for $2300 for these belongings and had a slew of hidden charges, out-sourced the move when they promised they didn't do that, never answered phone calls, couldn't track our belongings, and didn't cough up the belongings until after a 2 month long wait and litigation was threatened. The $2300 became around $6000... Movage in the other hand was AWESOME! The sales person who did the quote was extremely helpful. When we had more boxes than expected he gave us only a reasonable increase in the move price. There were no hidden charges. If I ever called them to verify pick-up or drop-off times, responses were punctual and polite. No suspiciously massive deposit was required (only $150). We loved that Movage was local to NYC too! The pick-up was seamless. The movers were professional and thorough. For cross-country moves they ask you allow up to 15 business days. We got our belongings after exactly that time frame. When I called for a status update, the office knew exactly where the truck was and able to provide delivery date estimates. All of our belongings arrived intact, nothing was missed. The whole cross-country move was done for about $4000. A whopping $2k less than the previous with 1000x less of a headache! My wife and I HIGHLY recommend Movage. Especially to anyone in the NYC/Tri-state area.

I can't believe I have to write this review, but I figured it was fair to warn everyone who's looking to use Movage for a long distance move. (We moved from NJ to CA.) (tldr: lack of communication, damaged boxes and furniture upon arrival, poor quality of service) In the beginning, Jeff was very attentive and made us feel like "Yes! This is the quality of service we're looking for in a company!" and the quoted price was great. He told us everything we needed to know about our move and we were excited to move forward. (Disclaimer: Low price is because they have other moves on the same truck as yours. We figured it wouldn't be a problem... it was.) But once we had our stuff loaded on to the truck, that's when it went all downhill. First things first, the pick-up movers told us how much we should be tipping them (they said they wanted 20%), which was extremely unprofessional. I don't mind if they had just mentioned that tips are appreciated, but to have the balls to flat out tell me you want 20%? Really? I didn't hear from Jeff for about a week after our initial pick-up, and when he did respond, all he could tell me was that our stuff was still waiting to be put onto the truck and our 6 day delivery window remained the same. He told me he would update with information when he had some. I asked him if it was possible to get a tighter delivery window once the truck was in transit and he informed me that once we got closer to the delivery window he'd have a better estimate of when our stuff should be arriving. (At this point, we were 9 days from the first day of our delivery window and 7 days since pick-up.) Another week goes by without any correspondence from Jeff. I'm starting to get a little anxious because it's 2 days from the first day of our delivery window and we have no idea where our stuff is. So I contact him again asking if he had an update. The first day of the delivery window is pushed back a day. Still very vague. I ask again if he could provided a tighter delivery window since we're working people and need to make arrangements to receive this move if it does come on a work day. He said he'll try his best. So now it's the first day of the delivery window! Hurray! But silence on Jeff's end. At this point, we figured he'd have some sort of idea where the truck is and have an idea of when the truck should be arriving to us. I email Jeff and no response. I get that it's a Saturday, but if client is paying thousands of dollars to use your services, just a quick acknowledgement would be appreciated. We get a call later that day from the driver saying he's in the area and will delivery the following day or the next, depending on the other deliveries. Okay, great! But why wasn't Jeff able to provide that information to us? The driver told us that they're not actually a part of Movage and they're hired to do jobs within Movage (which was one of the first questions I asked because I wanted to make sure that the move wasn't being contracted out to third parties), so the drivers themselves weren't even in touch with Movage at all. And then our stuff finally arrives... boxes were damaged, wet, opened, our couch was soaked on one side... I'll let the pictures do the talking. The response we get after we express our extreme disappointment is just a very textbook: "I apologize for any inconvenience. This is not the typical feed back we receive from our customers. I will help you as much as possible as I have tried to do from the first time we spoke. I will attach a claims form to this email. Please fill it out at your earliest convenience so we can start a claim process for you. Thank you." If you're looking to do a long distance move, go with Mayflower. We deeply regret not choosing to go with them in the first place.

I recently moved from New Jersey to Ohio and I hired Movage Inc for our moving. The three guys who came to pick up our furniture and boxes were really efficient and quick. In barely 2 hours they took all our stuff and charged inside their truck. They handled our belongings in a very careful way. We got our furniture in 5 days, just one day after we had moved to our new house. The delivery crew was very careful with our furniture and boxes and everything arrived in excellent condition. I would recommend them for long distance move.

Movage were sub-contracted by a company in the UK which I employed to move my piano. There were a lot of issues moving the piano as it had ivory keys and although I had the correct documentation the authorities ultimately made me have the keys removed. This is not the fault of Movage, but their subsequent handling of things was dreadful. When the piano was eventually delivered by Movage, it arrived with the bottom of the package ripped up and the piano exposed. The side of the piano was all scratched and chipped and they deny any responsibility and say the damage was done in the port. However, if they had received it in that state I would have expected it to be repackaged properly for delivery which it was not. Also, one of the guys was using a knife to open the parts and made a big slice along the top of the keyboard cover. This part had not been opened at the port so there is no doubt that Movage did this damage but they tried to deny that as well. They also LOST a piece of the piano - the lid prop which is the stick that holds the lid up. This piano is from the 1930s and you can't just get a replacement part. On top of all the port fees they had slapped a huge $1300 bill which delivery was conditional on payment, and delaying delivery meant that port fees would accrue so I could not withhold payment After all of these issues I would have expected any decent company to do all they can to make the situation better. However, once they had received their money they could not care. Luca, the guy I was dealing with, denied any responsibility for any damage including the scratch to the keyboard cover which could only have been them. He did next to nothing to locate the missing piece or find out what had happened during the time they were responsible. I asked for a refund of their fees but of course they refused. I've attached some pictures of what they did to my piano. Avoid this company. --UPDATE Business owner claims they have reached out to resolve this but they have not. Also claim of factual inaccuracy are false. There is nothing omitted in my review. Movage claim all the damage was done before they received the piano. That could be true of the damage to the side, but they did not ensure it was packaged properly when they delivered it as you can see from the photo. The piece of damage that they definitely did was the scratch to the keyboard cover because the Movage guy was using a knife to remove packaging. That item was packaged separately and never opened at the port for inspection. Also, all they did to try to find the missing piece was send me a few email addresses of people at the warehouse. None of the people I emailed had the missing piece. --UPDATE 2 Rather than reaching out to resolve things amicably, I received a letter from their lawyers threatening to sue me if I don't remove my Yelp review. Be aware that this is how this company handles customer service issues.

This is my second time using Movage BECAUSE THEY ARE BETTER THAN ANYONE I HAVE USED! Luca helped me organize the move and was incredibly patient and friendly. The company charges a flat fee, which I appreciate. Lavert was the foreman of my move, working with Al and Junior. They were professional, considerate and most of all COMPETENT. My furniture was carefully wrapped and delivered in the same condition they found it. After placing everything exactly where I directed, they cleaned up and left. I highly recommend Movage and the people the company employs.

Had to move out of my apartment due to pandemic. Jeff Davis made it really easy to organize the move via phone, and gave me emails to confirm everything a start a paper trail. Of many storage companies, this one was the most affordable while still offering private storage, a moving team that would make sure all my things were properly prepared for transport to storage and the space and a truck to do it all. Lavert and James were fantastic! working swiftly while handling my possessions with maximum care! Answered all of our questions and also wore masks to the pick up. Found movage through the better business bureau and feel completely stress free knowing that when I go to retrieve my belongings it will be another quick and easy process!
