We moved with Mesa/Merganthaler 2 years ago. Since we were renting and building, much of our stuff had to go into storage. They subcontracted for the packing at our old home and it was a disaster. Many items including furniture were broken during the pack. Many more were discovered during the unpack. Now that we're unpacking everything that went to storage we are finding about 10% of my Mom's heirlooms are broken, dozens of items. I was assured by the sales rep that they had very little breakage normally and would not need to buy the upgraded insurance which is pricey on top of a $17,000 moving bill. So for all the breakage they paid $.60/pound. They say they can do nothing. It's a huge company. I don't buy it. I would have been better off with a bunch of high school kids to pack and a Uhaul.”

Moving a large upright freezer: Alex, River, and Zach were on time despite the slushy roads, courteous and efficient: they work well together. Loading and unloading went gently and smoothly: they communicated well with the freezer's new owner about locating the freezer where she wanted it, and got it leveled & plugged in before they left. Whole household move from storage: I helped a friend start unpacking as Jason, Brandon, Nicole and Cassie unloaded everything. Non-skid runners kept the floors clean; padding on wall corners averted dents. I admired the teamwork as they planned and successfully carried large and heavy furniture up stairs and around tight corners. They asked where items should go; when stacking, they made everything easily accessible for unpacking. They worked steadily and cheerfully.”

We trusted Mergenthaler to ensure the seamless delivery of our possessions for an interstate move to MT. Problems occurred in getting our shipment loaded on a truck, affecting the timeline for delivery, and a third party ended up shipping our possessions. They did go the extra mile to get them to us and unloaded as soon as they arrived. The team who unloaded were very professional. However after unpacking everything we had over $500 in damage. Some things weren't protected at all, and there was an excessive number of boxes that were only partially filled, and then padded with a huge amount of paper making it difficult for us to recycle it. The packing of course was done at the other end. We asked for a possible adjustment on our shipping costs due to the fact that they ended up using a 3rd party container shipping company which we could have hired to begin with at a much lower cost. We never heard back.”
