Beware, do not put faith in the quote given by this company. First, this is not my first experience with MMS. I used them with my previous move 16 years ago with no issues at all. Let me begin by saying that my experience with Jerry started out great. He came to my house to provide an estimate for my move. We went through the entire house including the basement, attic and garage. He was friendly and assured me that he had 15 years experience and usually over estimates the cost of the move so that the customer will not be surprised at the end of the process. He came back with a very competitive quote which is why I went with MMS instead of any of the other companies that quoted my move. The first problem came on the day of my move. I had called the office a week or so before to change my move as I needed to vacate the day before and store my items overnight for the move to the new location at an additional $100 charge which I agreed to. I was told it was no problem. On the day of the move I called just to see what time to expect the crew. I was told I was not on the schedule but, in fact the notes on my file indicated the change. Thank goodness they had a crew that was able to come and pack the truck. The second issue came when the crew arrived. They came in a rental truck not the Manchester Moving and Storage trucks on their website which threw me off a bit. They seemed shocked at the size of the job but, told me "he does this to us all the time"! They were not happy and told me they would try to fit everything into the truck which, surprise, they could not. They had to send for a backup truck with an extra crew member. The next day the crew (different from the previous crew) arrived to the new location an hour and a half later than I was told they would be here. Again, they were surprised at the size of the job and also complained that this happens all the time. At the end of the move the foreman had to wait at least 20-30 minutes to get the total due from the office. When it came I was shocked. I did feel that it would be more but, was expecting probably around 20-30% higher than the quote. To my shock it was DOUBLE what I was quoted by their seasoned salesman!! I feel that I was duped into hiring this company as their quote was so much better than the other four I had gotten. In reality they ended up being more than any other quote I got. I must say, though, that both crews were polite and professional throughout the entire ordeal.”

When I filed a police report and called the owner, he wouldn't even take the call. I ended up having to file a homeowners claim, which came with a $500 deductible, plus I had to pay for the move, full cost + tip. Never use this company.”

Jerry was A pleasure to work with in my move from Coventry to Manchester back in January. The guys arrived on time and finished up well before they thought they were going to. The crew was friendly and helpful and I could not have asked for a better experience at a reasonable price. As a sidenote a few days ago I needed a sofa removed from my house and unfortunately I’m by myself right now. So I called Jerry to see if he could give me a hand and send a couple of guys over to just take it out to the curb for the bulk waste. He sent a crew out within two days and had it out in 10 minutes. I tipped the guys out, and when I called to ask how much it was going to cost, Jerry told me it was no big deal as long as I took care of his guys. This is why I try to use local as often as possible it was a pleasure doing business. I was a mover in another life, and I can tell you that it is one of the hardest jobs you can ever do so please remember to tip your drivers on household moves it is customary. And for people who didn’t have that kind of money they would buy us pizza or grinders. Anything extra is always appreciated.Denise Lee”
