I hesitate even to click ONE star! Do NOT hire Madison Van Lines for your move! We had a nightmare experience with them! My husband and I looked and looked online, and decided on this company because they had a reasonable quote ($7300) and the guy we dealt with, "****" was very believable and friendly. (this was not our first experience moving, but our first experience moving across country, and using a moving service) We have definitely learned, and I hope to share our experience with others and so might save someone else the headache (and a few thousand dollars as well!) When you move, you're advised to arrange with your movers 6 weeks in advance..Can you imagine having all of your home in boxes 6 weeks before you move????? Well, Madison has an online form that you're supposed to fill out (a lot of them do) You are to take inventory of EVERYTHING. When you click that you have a "large" armoire, you are NOT accounting for everything IN the armoire. You also have to pack everything in it into boxes and count those boxes. The online "form" is very confusing and when my husband called and spoke with ***** explaining our confusion and that we just weren't sure this far in advance whether or not we had the correct inventory numbers he was very quick to reassure him, and that "it sounded right to him for our square footage" etc...We even mentioned that we forgot about an old (decorative) sabot we wanted to include and he told us it wouldn't be a problem, that he would just "throw that in".(NOTHING was "thrown in"-we paid $16,000 plus another $400 in insurance from a separate company. so that's $20,000!) In the meantime, we had a guy from Allied Van Lines come to our home and LOOK at all of our stuff (packed and unpacked) He gave us a BINDING quote which was $4000 more than the quote from Madison. (His quote included insurance, and we were assured that if he were not correct about the weight of our stuff, we would NOT be charged for it) We SHOULD have gone with them!! We ended up spending TWICE the amount we were quoted from Madison, and were moved from our home 24 hours AFTER our close of escrow! Fortunately, our buyers graciously allowed us to spend an extra night in our condo. The movers knew they didn't have a big enough truck at the beginning of the day, but they chose to tell us ONE HOUR before we were to leave our condo that they would be back at 8am the following morning to finish the job. After a sleepless night in our almost empty home, they did not start until 10am the day AFTER we were to be out, and when my husband called Madison Van Lines to complain, were told by an "outraged" **** that he would be seeing to a $4000 refund for us! Three weeks later, our stuff was piled in our garage (our request) and (go figure) no word from ***** MUCH of our furniture was broken, every box I had written "TOP" or "FRAGILE" on was upside down, MANY of my ceramic pots and vases were broken, our king sized bed frame was SPLIT in two, our memory foam topper was a filthy and TORN mess! My husband has tried several times to contact ****, and his phone calls are not being returned. THIS WAS A NIGHTMARE! Take my advice, and ALWAYS get an in-home and BINDING quote, and DO NOT trust this company!

Great movers! Super nice guys, great price with low hourly rate, very efficient. I would definitely use them again, and highly recommend.

★★★★★
We have a spiral staircase and they were able to get a king-sized foam mattress through a small second story window. These guys are great. We will 100% be using them the next time we need to move furniture.

★★★★★
Great experience with all the people involved with my move. Upfront about everything and worked with me. I appreciate that. Thank you guys. I would definitely recommend them and use them down the line for future moves. 10 stars all around!

★★★★★
They were efficient, hard working, kind, and so much fun to hang out with during our move. I have a massive couch that I wanted in the basement that I didn't think was going to happen but they worked their magic and got it down there. They were very polite and professional and took the stress out of the moving process.

Moving to Las Vegas was a bit stressful. Finding a mover is even more stressful. There is so much garbage on the net. I pretty much chose Madison based on their reviews and referrals from two consumer groups. The moving experience was fine. I had no issues and my sales rep Brooke was great! I would use again.

I moved from Westerville Ohio to Riverside California. The movers were friendly and on time but too many things arrived severely damaged and/or unable to be repaired ie., mini frig footing broken and dented in the back, ie tears in leather chair, scuff marks on high end bedroom furniture, 2 broken floor lamps. My belongings must have been sitting out in the rain at some time because my ping pong table had water streaked marks on it and my box spring had a water line on it! Both were purchased brand new. So if your just moving some things and want to take the risk of damage way beyond what they can reimburse, they're great. It really wasn't the reimbursement, in the end it was that my property was not handled well. They can only reimburse .60 per pound. So if you were moving a dining table with 8 chairs and one chair is damaged beyond repair, you'll only get .60 time the weight of the chair, $5, and left with a incomplete dining set. If you moving things that could get damaged, get the extra insurance. Not sure what that would have covered.

So thankful for madison van lines! My coworker recommended them and I was still skeptical of all movers. I'm unpacked now after a smooth move. I will be referring Madison and using them again once our new home is move in ready. Thank you Maggie & the entire Madison team!

I've dealt with moving companies in the past that would promise a price and then raise it when they showed up also delivery times were never accurate. Finally, I found a company that was honest and on time. Very happy with Madison and would recommend to family and friends

Do NOT use Madison Van Lines!!! They are a broker that claims to be highly skilled and professional, but they are probably the worst moving company with whom I've ever had the misfortune of working. I recently used them to move from NY to FL. I provided my inventory with exact dimensions of everything, including all boxes and furniture. I was quoted a final price of $1,906. I even confirmed with their representative Jill the day before my move my exact inventory, and she still said everything would be $1,906. To my surprise, when NYC Movers came to pick up all of my belongings, I was told my price was actually $3,000! When I questioned this, I was told that even though my inventory was 100% correct, that the Madison Van Lines representative totally undercut my total cubic footage. After six weeks of going back and forth with them, they are now trying to deny any responsibility for this. I am moving forward with legal action against them, as they breached the contract and have been extremely unresponsive. I also submitted a complaint with the Better Business Bureau, as their unscrupulous and unethical/shady business practices need to be shutdown! I don't want any other potential customers to fall victim to this horrible, deceptive moving broker, so beware!

Thank you for another smooth move! I used Madison a year ago to move into temp. corporate housing until my new home was built. Again I received personal professional service from the same rep I worked with last time. Estimate was accurate and thorough

This was the WORST moving experience I have ever had. $3,000 more than quoted. Loaded my belongings on a truck and took it to Fort Lauderdale from Georgia, supposedly to switch crews. I was told AFTER they had the truck loaded and collected an additional $1,500 that it would be an extra week before my belongings would arrive in Virginia. When they arrived in Virginia a week later, it was a different truck than what left my house. Come to find out they off loaded all my belongings and packed it into another truck. Four days later I got a call from yet another delivery company telling me they had the rest of my move! I have legs broken off tables, an antique picture is broken beyond use must less repair. Corners broken completely off my dining room table and buffet. Power cords missing to my power reclining sofas, a complete box of sterling silver flatware valued at over $9,000 is missing, broken dishes, mattresses were bent and now have humps in the middle of them. The person I spoke with initially assured me the same people who loaded mt furniture would stay with it through delivery. This was not the case at all. As someone else mentioned I too was on the phone with someone who I walked from room to room with them and they quoted me $4500. But then I had to pay an additional $3,000. I caution anyone who would even think about using these people. They are by no means professional movers.

ABSOLUTELY HORRIBLE EXPERIENCE! DO NOT USE! My son hired American Knights moving company that then contracted out to Madison Van Lines. After packing there items they told them that they owed an additional $4000. They had his stuff so he was forced to pay. The merchandise was to be delivered on the 1st and on calling for delivery times they were told that there was a "30 day window" so for the first 18 Days in the new home they had no beds, washer, dryer, clothes, pots, pans....nothing. Oh and the best part a huge amount of there precious furniture pieces and smalls are broken to pieces when they finally decided to show up! DO NOT USE!
- Malinda C.

★☆☆☆☆
Absolutely horrible experience. I emailed 3 movers the exact list of items to get quotes. All three movers quote's were within $20. Madison then sub contracted out the move but the list of furniture I had provided to Madison was now missing 4 items. These 4 items (which were included in the original quote) ended up costing another ~$900 to move. Madison was absolutely no help in resolving the issue with the sub contracted moving company.

I have many complaints about my interaction with Madison Van Lines, but for brevity I will summarize 2 reasons why you should NOT hire this company. (1) They tried to get me to sign a gag order, and (2) they hire local carriers to move your items and therefore take zero responsibility for anything that goes wrong during your move. Move info for those interested... (1) After 2 months of back and forth, they offered me only $250 for well over $2,000 of damaged and lost items. However, this was under the condition that I sign a legal document forbidding ANYTHING negative comments, by ANY method of communication, FOREVER. I have the document to prove it. How dishonest a business practice is that? I suspect there would be many more negative reviews online if the company did not have this policy. (2) They refuse to take responsibility for anything that happens during your move. This is because they are simply a logistics company. They hire local movers to actually move your items, and claim they have no legal responsibility for anything the movers do. They also will not provide you with the name of the moving company, until the day of your move. If ANYTHING goes wrong with your move, good luck getting them to take responsibility for it.

I contacted Madison Van Lines during a very stressful and peak time, for a last minute move. My sister needed to move from South Florida to Winston Salem, NC. Everything was happening so fast and i needed someone to pack her things. I spoke to a young lady named Maggie, she verbally walked me through my sisters home room for room and we went through every small detail. She then emailed me an estimate that seemed very reasonable. Her account Manager Jill checked in with me the day before the move to see if I had any changes or concerns. When the movers got here they were extremely prepared for the packing of all my sisters things. We did have a few more boxes i missed during the estimate and the driver explained to me the additional charge will be based on the cubic feet the boxes take up. Luckily Jill and Maggie prepared me thoroughly and this was not a major increase. The truck was clean and the drivers remained professional through the move. I was told the estimated delivery would be 5-7 days, and on the 5th day we received a call from the driver that they would be there Monday (Yesterday) We just finished unpacking her and all is well. There were a few boxes that were slightly damaged in the transit process but everything inside was packed perfectly so no damage to the things inside. We will certainly be using them again when my fiance and I move up here.

Madison just delivered all of our belongings and I just want to say thank you! Thank you for calming me down and being there as I went into breakdown mode with the whole move situation. This was a tough move for us and I am thankful to everyone at Madison Vanlines that took time to explain the process and was there through the whole process. The movers were respectful, organized and professional . So much stress and anxiety can be relieved by choosing the right mover! I highly recommend Madison Vanlines!

Madison just completed our move and I am pleasantly surprised that all went better than I ever thought possible! Communication with my coordinator was comforting throughout the entire process. Our's was a big move with many details that took time and planning with a knowledgeable coordinator. This review is the least I can do! Thanks Madison Van Lines!

This is not something I ever take time to do but is the least I can do for this company. Madison Van Lines has helped me and my family tremendously by taking such care of our personal items. I was terrified having the responsibility of choosing a mover to move us over 2000 miles! It was clear right away that my sales rep was genuinely confident and seemed to take a lot of pride in the company which I liked right away.

I have made many moves that my employer took care of so this was the first move I had to deal with and pay for. This was too much for any person to deal with! The sale of my home, retiring, and buying a new home for the last time. Very emotional for my wife who was constantly calling our sales rep at Madison Van Lines and actually getting them on the phone when needed! Well, delivery has taken place recently and this is also the first time I have done a review for any company. I highly recommend this company.

★★★★★
I hired them after seeing how they work! First you get a moving specialist, I had Maggie. You can call them anytime and actually speak to them LIVE..not recordings..extension number..or begging that a live person will answer! The move went great...Garrett and Miguel were great! I was so happy to see them when they arrived a few days later! I needed them to hold delivery until floors in new house were dry. No problem..just call your moving specialist. I so highly recommend this company...they care and best of all they DO THEIR JOB! Moving is not fun...but they all made it easier! Thank you!

This was a nightmare from beginning to end. In 48 years of marriage I have moved 8 times before this move. None were the horrific experience this was. I was over charged. Stolen from. Boxes were gone through as well as file boxes broken into. Things on my inventory were purposely trashed or left behind because the movers didn’t want to be bothered. At my new home the drivers were rude and wanted more money. They got into an argument with my new neighbor and told them to mind their own business. They dumped boxes in one room up to the ceiling. Boxes were upside down. Fragile meant nothing to them. People should know Madison VANLINES subcontracts out to other transport companies. They do not check those companies to see how reputable they are. You could end up with a bunch of thugs like I did.

We recently hired this company who pretends to be a family owned company and not a broker. That was the first lie. Mr. Kaplan , an employee, is a major liar. He pretends to be supportive but when you try to communicate with the company you get the supreme runaround. The company did not abide by the first agreed upon moving date. This was an out of state move involving a house closing and added more stress then imagined. The first binding quote was changed once the movers picked up the furniture . The movers wanted more money then Mr. Kaplan told me to have available via a tellers check. Each individual's company in this train of deception blamed the other company. Upon delivery, the third company arrived at 8pm to a storage facility and tried to shake us down for $100 more because the storage unit was on the interior. The contract specifically indicated that there would be an extra charge if they had to carry the items more then 75feet. At most it was an additional 20 feet from the truck. On mover yelled in my face and said he would not move the items off the truck unless we paid them $100 cash. They were intimidating and adiment! Luckily, a relative was near by so we could get the money inspite of the fact that we were told the balance due had to be via a postal money order. We are advised of this change only hours before the move. This was one of the most stressful deceptive experience I have ever had. I would never ever recommend this company to anyone !!!!! It was one lie and deception after the next. It is criminal!!!

I hired Madison Van Lines after speaking to the sales associate Erika. Please ask for her if you contact them. My move was slightly over 900 miles from Wisconsin to New Jersey. She put me completely at ease. The move went smooth, no problems, no hidden costs. The movers packed me up on Friday and my things arrived on Tuesday, several days earlier than I thought. From beginning to end everything went great.I'm a very happy satisfied customer!

This will be my second move with Madison and everything’s going great. They moved me back in January 2018 from New York to Florida and there weren’t any problems. My employer paid for my expenses and full packing so I didn’t have to do anything it was great! I worked with Maggie again on this second move- I’m moving to North Carolina and everything went perfect with the pickup. Thankfully they were able to help with some last minute packing and now my stuff will be in storage till I find my new home.

I used Madison for my move from Houston, Texas, to San Fransico. I was pleased with their service. My sales rep Brooke, was great at walking me through the moving process and she was very realistic in terms of what to expect. Other movers I spoke with were trying to pressure me to give them a deposit. I would use these guys again if needed.
