Liberty came out and gave an estimate that was slightly higher than the others, but we chose them because they gave the impression of a highly competent company that would do an outstanding job. In this case, first impressions were valid, as they did an excellent job. The packers and the movers were caring and joyous, the kind of employees who were proud of working for a first class operation. Items were packed carefully and skillfully, and the move went off without a hitch. This company, Liberty, was subcontracted by the movers I thought I was dealing with, TX Moving and Storage. So this review goes for them, too. I really didn't expect very much when I agreed to this mover, since I was cutting costs. But the experience was worse than I imagined. A dispatcher told me to be ready for pickup at 6-8 am. I was. My movers, from a different company (Liberty) than the one I thought I'd contracted with (TX), arrived at close to 11. The truck had Budget Rental written on the side. The first thing they did was have me fill out all new moving forms, since my arrangements had been with a different company--it took about 20 minutes, while the crew stood around doing nothing. There was no professionalism apparent, just three young men in a variety of outfits, speaking Arabic amongst themselves so I didn't know what they were saying: the boss spoke tolerable English, and managed to do the inventory list passably--one of the three crew seemed to know how to wrap furniture. But things were not well fitted into the truck, my four maple dining chairs--old and delicate--were thrown up on top of the boxes, unwrapped, and immediately fell down. I begged the man in charge to wrap them, and he said he would. He did not. On the other end of the move, the driver of the big rig in which my stuff was sandwiched in the middle of two other households, arrived alone. Four men had loaded. One was there to unload. Unloading from the middle of a tractor trailer, this older (60's?) man was surprisingly able, though it was slow. He was nice, kept calling to find "helpers" and they didn't show. Apparently, he drives the truck to the move, calls for hourly helpers while he's on the road. And arranges for them to meet him at the site. They are unknown guys, they often don't arrive. He showed me how, when the furniture and boxes are removed from the middle of the truck, at the side door, the other ends no longer are braced by anything. So boxes and things shift, fall...it's a mess. I guess I should be glad I was first. After two hours, he finally got a guy to help. That guy was great. He made short work of what was left, and set up my bed for me. So, it is over. I should be glad I got from Boston to North Carolina for $2,500. But unless you are ready for what is far, far from a great moving experience, don't go for Liberty, or TX!”

This was the second time in my life I moved. I was moving from NY to NC to retire. I chose Liberty moving based on its sales person Larry Martin and the comfort he gave us in planning this big move. We got estimates from 3 movers and felt most confident in Liberty. Their price was competitive compared to the other companies. The move went extremely well and better than we expected. The movers were very careful with our home and belongings. The moving men were polite and courteous. We moved 3 flat screen TVs and all were packed well. When our movers arrived in NC the truck was unloaded efficiently the inventory list helped account for every item. Im happy to say all our belongings were accounted for with no damage. The 3 flat screen TVs are up and running. Use Liberty moving you wont be disappointed!”

We contracted Liberty for a house move in our town. They came recommended by our realtor. They came to us with a quote of just over $2900. They said it might be slightly more based on the time it takes. The day of the move the workers were kind and efficient. They advised us they couldn't take anything apart and worked diligently to get things packed. Towards the end, the could not fit 2 basketball hoops, a treadmill and a grill. They asked me if they could come back the next day and get it. I had to rent a truck to move it myself. They had a rough time getting things into the house which had some tight turns. In the end the final price was over $800 the original quote as we are charged hourly until they get back to their office. I also found out they left a huge crack in our brand new dining room table that we have to fill out an insurance form to see if we can recoup some of that loss. Let the buyer beware.”

She called and emailed regularly with updates. On our move date, the van and the fantastic driver, Patrick, arrived right on time. Patrick and the NY crew were efficient, friendly, and professional. Before pulling out of NY, Patrick gave me an estimated day that our belongings would arrive in NC.
