“ Had a fantastic experience with JP Urban this past weekend; from start to finish, using this company was completely seamless and lessened the intense anxiety I had about moving. I saw the great reviews for JP Urban on Yelp so I reached out for a quote for my move about 1.5-2 weeks ahead of my desired move date. They gave me an incredibly reasonable quote from what I could tell, although it was on par with what other companies were quoting. I put down the deposit (which goes toward the entire move) and waited for the day of my move. The day before they texted me with their estimated arrival time and in fact, they were a bit early so we got started as soon as they were there. My one bedroom apartment was all packed, just needed them to help move out the furniture and boxes, which included disassembling some of the furniture and moving it to another part of Brooklyn. The entire move took exactly four hours, and I couldn't be happier. Nothing was damaged or missing (as far as I can tell, two days later) and the movers were so helpful and efficient! My boyfriend even used them, with about two days notice, for his own move the weekend before my move and also had a glowing review. Will definitely use them again and recommend to others!! “ Wow, what a fantastic moving experience. These guys were on top of it from the first call I made to them. Chris was crystal clear with communication and the details of the initial estimate. A few days from my set moving date, I had a few things come up. Chris was more than accommodating and allowed me to change my moving date at no additional charge. On moving day, communication was fantastic. The team reached out to me the morning of and created a group chat for the movers. Manuel and crew showed up at my place ready to go. They were incredibly polite, efficient and careful with my things. Like most people, I had a few left over things that I didn't know how to pack (or my brain had reached capacity with all of the sh*t). The guys were great about supplying an extra box or two and getting me over the finish line. The move cost exactly what Chris had estimated with the team working at full capacity - he noted there would be charges for wrapping, tape, addl boxes, etc. Everything made it to my new place in tact with no surprise charges - not to mention how competitive I found their fee to begin with. Actual Move Rating - 5/5 -Chris from dispatch made sure everything was in line before the movers arrived and gave an estimated time of arrival which was spot on. The movers led by Sal arrived right on time and moved lightening quick and everything was packed, unloaded, done within 2hrs (Manhattan to JC), they even disassembled and reassembled my bedframe in that timespan too. I was afraid the U-Pack pod wouldn't fit all my things, but these these men went out of their way to strategically fit and secure ALL of my things! Also, on moving day, I had to get all my things packed up in order to catch a 5:30pm flight to California at JFK. Amazingly, I had plenty of time to clean up, say goodbye to friends, and walk my dog before leaving at 3pm. I highly recommend this service, especially if you are on a tight schedule. The crew had all necessary materials and took extreme care and caution with all of my belongings, wrapping everything as though they were precious heirlooms rather than IKEA furniture. “ I write to sing the praises of this place, which went the extra mile and then some in the aftermath of my move from Prospect Heights, Brooklyn, to Staten Island. On the day of the move, it late May, everything went swell: We started off the day with empanadas from the local bodega and moved on from there. The movers did a spectacular and careful job with all of my belongings, carefully packing my paintings --- the art is my one investment. They came up with a creative way to place my bed in the new apartment. They were great! There was just one thing: When I finally settled --- and that took a long time --- I could find the cable equipment, meaning the Wifi modem and router nowhere. I mean, the place was a mess for a long time. A move from hipster Brooklyn to Staten Island is BIG. I called a couple of times to the receptionist, a lovely woman named Jazmyn. Meanwhile, the folks from Optimum sent their bill collectors after me for $180.00 in equipment charges. I made one last call and connected with someone whom I believe is one of the owners --- John. The equipment was in a storage unit. Both devices are black and probably ended up in the dark end of a truck. John spent the better part of an afternoon calling Optimum, which I had tried several times and failed, because their only option for me was to pay, and confirmed the serial numbers for the equipment with a customer service person from Bangladesh. Go figure! JP Urban Movers THEN went to the REMOTE Brooklyn location where Optimum insists that you return your equipment and returned it ON MY BEHALF. Now THAT is going the extra mile. Moving is difficult. Moving is hell. In fact, I spoke to John about this before the move happened, when I was frantic. He said, "It is the nature of transition." “ Marcos' team of 3 guys was fast, efficient, careful - everything you would want. I had a small move across the street to a junior one-bedroom. It took one hour to move out and one hour to move in; both apartment buildings were very picky about certificates of insurance but the JP Urban team took care of it all in advance ($45 fees applicable). First and foremost, I was so impressed with the bin system...it's environmentally friendly/sustainable, and overall a fabulous system. The team moved me from a studio in Brooklyn (1 floor up) to a 4th floor walk-up in Manhattan. It was a rough move, but I couldn't believe how efficient, and wonderful the guys who moved me were. “ Used these folks for a short-distance move between two co-op buildings in the same neighborhood. The movers who handled my job were professional and courteous, and did a much better job wrapping my stuff for this short-distance move than the people who moved me cross-country! (Seriously, they spent about 3 hours of the move just wrapping stuff in blankets and tape. They must have used 20 rolls of packing tape, and I don't really have that much stuff. It was almost *too much*, if that's possible.) The final price was very close to the initial estimate, with the exception of materials (i.e. packing tape, garment box rental, etc.) and about $50 in stair fees for a couch that didn't make it out of my building's elevator. Still, their final price was basically the same as the starting price of other movers I quoted, so I can't complain.”

“ To find a good moving company in NYC, here is what I did 1) Yelp - checked the reviews for the top rated companies 2) Better Business Bureau - searched online for any negative reviews about the moving companies I found on Yelp 3) Checked private websites, such as movingscam.com - they have a "black list" of moving companies as well as recommended movers and reviews. 4) Checked other online resources- google reviews, Angie's list etc 5) Made a list of the top moving companies & narrowed it down to three, of which one was JP Urban. Next, I contacted each business by phone and/or submitted an online quote request through Yelp. Due to the busy time of year and limited schedule, it was difficult to arrange. Also, some movers were more flexible with their online quote system, while others could confirm more easily via phone. So when I called on the phone, I was able to arrange a moving date with JP Urban. The online quote was rejected, probably due to me - not being specific enough about the actual job. The initial phone conversation was a bit of a challenge. The company rep kept saying "to be honest with you... in reality...." Finally, I just lost my "stuff" and started saying "well to be honest with you... I really need this to be as stress free as can be, I got too many other things to deal with...And in realty, I really need a break, so help me out here please..." And I swear I thought I was going to lose it but the guy on the phone was good & we got the moving time scheduled ! The move went flawlessly. We negotiated a price beforehand, time, date, and location. The crew arrived on time, packed & wrapped the delicate items, were super professional and organized. Communication was excellent! The items arrived at the location exactly when agreed upon. I always tip movers - the going rate is between 10- 20% of the job's total cost and it's worth it. Finally, the bill was actually BELOW the price quoted. JP Urban is one of the honest / ethical moving companies out there. They tell you that the quote is only an estimate, the final bill depends upon the amount of work required. If it's more, the bill will be higher. But if it's less, they will actually charge you only for the time & materials required. Other companies had lower price quotes, but probably would have charged the same (or more) and not habbeen an easy to deal with. Very happy. JP Urban saved me time, money and stress. Outstanding experience! Update ** Last week (10/10/19) I moved again. JP Urban was perfect! Everything ran smoothly, start to finish. Very impressed!”

“ A MILLION STARS!! THEY DESERVE IT for exemplary care, integrity, efficiency, focus on relationship, and professionalism. We've moved a lot in our life, and hired all of the big name NYC movers. Funny, I can't remember who they were. BUT I will never forget JP URBAN MOVING. We are in our mid 50's. March 2019, after 12 years, we moved house with our "20 something" sons. JP UrbanMoving was a Godsend during a particularly stressful time in our lives. John took my initial call, and offered to come to our apartment to survey what we were moving, and what we weren't moving. It was complicated to me, but he confidently assessed our situation, and put me at ease. In fact, on his way to our first meeting, John texted me, and included a friendly emoticon to let me know he had left the subway and was walking to our apartment! He made me smile, and I was comfortable with him. John arrived, greeted me with a firm handshake and a friendly smile. I walked him through our Carroll Gardens duplex, pointing out what we were moving, and what we were not moving. He took notes and photos, and he wasn't the least bit fazed. I was a wreck. His disposition was comforting. He said he would prepare an estimate, get it to me over the weekend, and he did. John also encouraged me to get estimates from 3 other moving companies. I tried. I didn't like the way I was treated on the phone when I asked another local, bin providing, green movers to come and do an onsite assessment, so I ended my search. Seriously, I didn't have the emotional energy to collect additional estimates for this move. End of the day, JP Urban Moving's estimate was WAY lower than I expected, and that was good enough for me. I had a good feeling about John's company, and I trusted him. AND THEY BROUGHT ME BINS!!! Reusable bins that I didn't have to construct and tape up, and then unpack, break down and throw out, like card board boxes! OMG! So exciting...SERIOUSLY! And then... I needed MORE bins, so JP URBAN MOVING happily brought us MORE bins! WOW! Money, time and effort saved.Wow Wow Wow! The day of the move... We were all packed up... well, mostly. You know how that goes. I was freaking out. Chris and John dispatched, and stayed in communication, by group text with us, and our onsite mover foreman Manuel and his team. OMG! I love communication and follow up! Be still my heart! MANUEL and his TEAM arrived and took over with confidence and efficiency. I was immediately at ease. They knew what needed to be done, and they were doing it. They blanket wrapped all of the furniture, taped and bubble wrapped my computer, TV's, table lamps, and all of the fragile things I didn't know how to deal with. Everything was efficiently loaded onto the truck with GREAT CARE, and GENUINE RESPECT for us and our belongings. I fell a bit in love with these guys. The truck was loaded quickly. 12 years, and great angst, were behind us. We drove to meet the movers at our new home, about 8 miles away. Manuel wanted to stop and buy his guys coffee. I thought they should stop for lunch! When we got to the new apartment, Manuel and his TEAM were already waiting for us. I'm sorry we kept you guys waiting! The crew unpacked with the same energy, care, respect and efficiency. I watched them unload the truck from my upstairs window. The guys handed off the bins to one another in relay fashion. Wow! That was fast! What great team work! They related to each other as the Thunderbirds and Blue Angels do during synchronized flight maneuvers. Our mover guys deftly read my labels, and placed each bin and piece of furniture where I wanted it to go. If they weren't certain about where or how I wanted something placed, they patiently and respectfully asked and waited for my clarification. They carried my husband's Steinway Piano upstairs, with great care, patience, and would you believe humor? This could have been so stressful and frustrating, but our team from JP URBAN MOVING slowly and carefully lifted the piano up, stair by stair, and gleefully chuckled during the process. :))) They made me smile, big time! This was an arduous task which freaked me out, and our guys were actually having a good time working so hard together! I fell even deeper in love with them! The move was completed in less time than John originally estimated! There were no extra charges. No surprises. In fact, we owed less than originally estimated for the BEST MOVE EXPERIENCE OF OUR LIVES! When does that ever happen? These charges were reasonable, just be aware. The move itself went very well. The team wrapped up all my furniture in protective materials before moving it and got it over there exactly as needed. We had pre-packed most smaller items, but they helped to pack some of our remaining items in their boxes. No drama, no fuss, just everything moved in a timely manner. “ Moving is always the biggest pain in the butt and I'm always stressed out leading up to it. I decided that we were going to use a moving company this time around. After doing a ton of research and getting more quotes than I could count, I decided to go with JP. Our move was a 2 BR in Brooklyn, 1 stop in Morris Plains NJ to pick up some more furniture, and finally to Weehawken NJ. The entire duration of the move was a little less than 6 hours, including the 1.5 hours travel time, talk about efficient! I found a September moving special on their website for $99 an hour for 3 guys, and they honored that price. Our total move came out to about $1k after the moving, travel time, supplies, and tipping each of the guys, which was actually less than I thought it would come out to. Now onto the actual work. I couldn't be more impressed with how quickly and how well they packed all of our furniture. Nothing was damaged upon arrival, even all the more delicate/fragile items. They were incredibly attentive and organized, they communicated with me the entire time, and the dispatcher checked in with me throughout the trip to make sure we were on schedule and everything was going smoothly. 100% would use them again for my next move, couldn't be happier with how everything turned out.”

My partner and I found ourselves stuck outside the country and needing to pack and move our entire apartment into storage in a little over a month, thanks to COVID-19. We were completely overwhelmed, but after seeing all the great reviews for JP Urban, we decided to get an estimate, which was emailed to us quickly, courteously, and proved to be extremely affordable. When I spoke to Jazmin on the phone, she was very patient and kind. I told her about our situation- stuck outside the country with an apartment in "still lived in" conditions-and she assured me that as long as we had a friend / family to oversee the move, it would not be a problem to set a date to pack and move within the month. Our moving team was made up of Chris, Walter, and Miguel and his crew. Chris provided us with calm, clear communication before, during and after the move itself about what to expect, timelines, and what COVID-19 precautions his team was taking, and what precautions we should take as well. They packed, boxed up, used hanging boxes, wrapped furniture, and moved a VERY FULL 1 bedroom apartment in Brooklyn into a 7x10 storage unit, also in Brooklyn, and it all went as smooth as can be.
