HireAHelper was easy to use, however, I was supplied with an unethical and unreliable moving company. I had hired two people to spend two hours unloading a moving van into a storage unit. They randomly pushed back my scheduled start time one hour the day before my move. On the day of the move I received multiple text messages from the movers with several excuses for being late. Three hours after my scheduled arrival window, HireAHelper called me to confirm the movers had rescheduled me again and I needed to call back to confirm. I tried calling back but sat on hold and didn’t get to speak to anyone. Movers finally arrived just before 1pm (original appointment was 9-10am), and at that point we had managed to unload about 1/3 of the 26ft van ourselves. At the end of the move, AFTER unloading a rolling toolbox and pushing it into the storage unit, they informed us there would be an extra charge for the overweight item. Didn’t say how much. The movers left and HireAHelper sent me the invoice, which had no extra charge, so I accepted and signed it. A few minutes later, I received a phone call from HireAHelper informing me they needed to charge me another $200 for the heavy item. I refused payment. I then got a call from the moving company who accused me of intentionally not telling them about the tool box. (Tool box is listed in the original quote, and it only took two people to load as it is on wheels.) I again refused to pay and told them they missed their arrival window by nearly 4 hours, causing significant inconvenience for us, The moving company then hung up on me. I’ve gotten no follow up from my compliant to HireAHelper. In the future I will only deal with reputable moving companies directly as this service only adds another layer of confusion, and it provided me with unreliable help. UPDATE: HireAHelper did reach out to me and offer a discount on my move expenses along with a sincere apology. I am very appreciative of that and it’s good to know some companies do take an effort to make things right. I will consider using them in the future based on this.”
