★★★★★
They arrived right on time, efficiently packed all of my things, delivered and set up in the new space, and were extremely pleasant to work with. This was the smoothest move I have ever had! Very happy with the price too, worth every penny!

Absolutely ridiculous business model. My significant other and I spent days calling getting quotes from places. We decided based off pricing and timelines to go with great van lines. Prior to the move date we made sure to itemize out our stuff that would be shipped with dimensions. We adjusted the initial quote which they had messed up and it was $400.00 more then the initial price. We figured ok mistakes happen but we were reassured there would be no other hidden fees or charges that everything would be as the quote said. When the day of the move came the movers showed up an hour and a half late in the three hour window they had which made our 15 hour drive and closing paperwork for the house a bit more stressful. They packed everything and once things were loaded our initial quote had some how doubled in price but yet we did not add anything to the list we had adhered to everything that was in our quote nothing extra. We felt helpless because we now had no option but to let them take our stuff and figure out how to produce extra money for the move. The driver said well at least it wasnt 1500 square foot(like this is a normal practice for a company). Our stuff is still not here. We call and call to try to get some explanation or answers. We are now paying top dollar for in my opinion a very low quality of service. We could of paid 1500 dollars less and had our stuff the next day. We went with them for the value understanding we could live without our stuff for a week. It's now been 5 days and the company says they still doesnt have our "paperwork" and hangs up on us. I dont want to resort to legal action and go to the BBB but we are starting to feel like we may have no other option.

Working with this company has been a complete and utter joke. I worked with David Carter on this move, but after he had my money it was impossible to get in touch with him. They ignored every one of my emails and would transfer me to "Dispatch" every time I called where I spoke to a new person every time, and who always seemed to have some excuse as to why my items were taking so long. My contract said 7-21 business days but my items did not arrive until 45 BUSINESS DAYS after the first date I said they could deliver, so 52 BUSINESS DAYS after they took my items onto their truck. THEN upon delivery, my kitchen chairs, and part of my couch were missing. Here I am two weeks AFTER THE DELIVERY still trying to figure out where my missing items are. They put me in touch with the person who was in charge of actually moving my stuff, Guy, who keeps avoiding questions as to whether or not he actually found my missing items. I've been unable to get in touch with their main office and there's no way to file a formal complaint for compensation for how long this has taken, or my missing items. Whatever money they may be claiming to save you on a move, trust me, it's not worth it. They are a complete scam.

As a frequent mover, I have used plenty of moving companies like Midwest movers and two men and a truck and I have to say I’ll never use great van lines. Terrible experience. First customer service is extremely rude and unhelpful and across the line in the company they are not uniform or on the same page. I was charged a broker free (I understand if there’s a middleman) but there was no middleman it was just someone who worked for the company that charge a $115 broker fee. He supposedly set up the move giving me a quote. He made sure to ask me if I lived on a first floor or second floor and if I had stairs I said yes second floor. Was never told I would need to pay extra on top of that. They didn’t charge extra when they picked up but when delivered they did. Movers left a ton of garbage inside my condo and explained I would have to remove it. And I when they say up to 14 days for delivery they mean it my stuff was deliver on the 14th day. And when given this feedback no one in the company cared at all but was rude and showed no empathy for any miscommunication on their part. Will not use again.

I would not recommend this company. I have moved 3 times in the last 10 years and I must say that this is the worst experience I have ever had. If I had one encounter with a rude or unprofessional employee, then I would be easily able to move on, but you have countless people in your company that are rude, unprofessional, and not knowledgeable about the policies and procedures you have in place. Additionally, no one ever seems to answer the phone and there seems to be minimal communication between departments. I am highly disappointed with the quality of service I have received and this attitude your company has done me a huge favor by accepting my money. I, too, had an unfavorable experience with additional hidden charges.

I recently used Great Van Lines as a moving service. I have moved before but never hired anyone to do it for me. The price ended up increasing slightly at pickup, which I was not expecting, but it was explained to me and it seems that I had left out a few items when providing my moving coordinator with my inventory. When my delivery came, the movers brought my items into whatever room I needed them in. The assembled most of my furniture, except for a dining room table that they had lost one of the screws to. I also had 2 missing boxes, but they were able to track them down at the loading dock. they sent me my 2 boxes, as well as screws to replace the one that was missing for my table. In the end, the move went pretty smoothly. There were a few bumps but they were all explained and resolved. I would recommend Great Van Lines to friends and family.

I only had 2 problems with Great Van Lines: delivery date was later than expected and some damage to furniture and a few missing items. There was a miscommunication with the delivery date and we had to have it there 3 days before it was projected to be there. The delivery guys arrived and were very exhausted after driving all day, and with our help got everything unloaded. They went out of their way to work as quickly as possible as I was already behind schedule. They worked quickly to get my claims handled and I received a call stating they were able to locate my missing items. I would suggest this company and give them 4/5 stars.

★★★★★
Great van lines proved to be very helpful and professional all along. Their customer service representative went above and beyond to explain the course of the move and how they would go about each task. The movers on both ends of the move were very approachable and friendly. The fact that they offered a reasonable quote also helped me decide. It wasn’t the lowest estimate, but their services turned out to be worthwhile. The crew came on time and offered to wrap some bulky items although that service wasn’t involved in the final price.

★★★★★
Great van lines arrived even a bit earlier and they were quick to start packing. They were fast and efficient while handling our items. The movers were terrific. Extremely respectful of my time, property and belongings, they are the nicest guys I’ve ever met. Everything reached my new home in perfect condition, they really took the time to secure my delicate items with several layers of packing paper. They used quality packing materials and an infallible packing and lifting technique which is why all my items survived the move. I will be contacting them again in the future for sure if I have to move.

Quoted us a really good price to move over 800 miles (cheaper than everyone else), but after our things were picked up and loaded we were told we had over 300 square cubic feet of stuff more than our original quote (mind you I gave them descriptions and measurements of everything, down to the boxes before the first quote), so we get get charged almost $2000 more than the original quote. I'm not sure if its the sales person (David Carter) baiting the customer for commission or if this is a company practice, either way it's a bait and switch and not right for the customer. Called customer service to see how they were going to make it right... After the 3rd phone call, I still have to wait on a call back to get things resolved. Not to mention the driver was an hour late for the 3 hour pick up window and left trash (tape and used tape rolls all over our deck and yard). If this is the way this company does business, I honestly don't know how they are still operating! We definitely would have gone with a different company if we knew then what we know now. I will not recommend this company, nor will we use this company again.

I wouldn't recommend this company to my worst enemy. It is a rip-off as the other reviewers stated. I think they switched their name from Big Boy Moving (look at those reviews) because that name stacked up so many bad reviews. Your total balance will be much more than their original quote. That I can promise. They get you in the fine print.

Not only that they scammed us and forced us to pay 50% more than what we were supposed to based on the volume of our goods (which we measured upon delivery), not only that 70% of the delivered goods arrived damaged or entirely ruined, but also several boxes did not arrive at all. Furthermore, Great Van Lines refused to collaborate with the police which was investigating our robbery claim against the company. Great van Lines is associated with Big Boy Moving and Storage, Inc (we were not aware of this before booking them) which have 30 complaints in BBB: bbb.org/us. Four months later we are still dealing with insurance claims and BBB complaints about our move. This move was supposed to be a new great beginning for me and my husband and instead in turned into a hellish situation.

Please read my complaint on the Better Business Bureau site about this company. The authorities had to get involved when the "movers" arrived to deliver my goods. They wanted another $1000 on top of what they charged me because the driver did not want to drive the truck to the confirmed destination, that's when the sheriff got involved. I have filed a police report for stolen items that the movers said they would be donating on my behalf. Please reach out to me if you would like to discuss further. They also use movers that are unable to provide proof of employment, be concerned about liability here. I am disputing charges through my credit card company as the movers doubled the price of my quote day of move. No one in management or sales ever contacted me about this after several attempts to resolve this matter. And I was called racist by Connie in dispatch because I had asked for proof of employment about the movers and took a picture of them because they could not confirm that they were employed by the company. Jonathan Pierce is the sales guy and Maury is the manager. Don't use this company, I can't stress it enough.

Just gone and the claim department had inform me they aren't responsible for any of my broken and lost items. And zero care by the company. Very rude customer service. They told me to "go file a claim and the claim department reply back to me informing me that is the company the one I need to contact for my lost and damage items. DO NOT USE!! Unless you want to paid for your items to get stolen.

DO NOT USE THIS COMPANY! DO NOT USE GREAT VAN LINES OR ANY OF THEIR PARTNER COMPANIES! We booked them for a cross country move and the entire experience from beginning to end was unbelievably HORRENDOUS. They give you an estimate WITHOUT physically assessing what needs to be moved and give you a low price "only to be increased by 3 to 5 times" just to get the contract signed, with a "NON-REFUNDABLE" down payment. BAIT & SWITCH in every way possible. It was a NIGHTMARE in its literal sense. They were totally rude, unprofessional & DANGEROUS. Pick up driver arrived HOURS late with trucks with a company name on it that we had never heard of and with just ONE other guy. Their delay caused us to miss our flights. They kept my family hostage in the middle of the night until we signed their forms with 3X the rates they initially quoted. The estimate was $2,100 and they put in the forms $6,600 and wanted to sign even though there was not much of an increase. We felt completely trapped. The situation was so TRAGIC & HORRIFIC that we were going to call the Police to help us. The driver told us if we did, he would leave all our stuff on the road as is and would just leave. We had no option but be a victim of their ABUSE since we had to move across states and had already missed our flights. We contacted their customer service about our TERRIBLE EXPERIENCE and they instead of being sympathetic, they blamed us and totally ignored all of our concerns. They had been rude and disrespectful throughout the entire move. I will be calling an attorney and I am going to report them to the BBB. I have tried to call my customer service rep, "APRIL" with NO LAST NAME on any of her emails, everyday. I've emailed her everyday. No response. DO NOT USE THIS COMPANY. DO NOT USE GREAT VAN LINES OR ANY OF THEIR PARTNER COMPANIES! They outsource their moves to other companies so you don't know which company is going to show up to pick up or drop off with a variety of names on their trucks. At the time of booking, we asked them if they use their "OWN" trucks with Great Van Lines on them and were LIED to and told "YES", again just to cheat and get us to sign the contract. GREAT VAN LINES, its owners, customer service associates & drivers are ALL deceitful! The driver who delivered called a day before delivery and said he was aware of what happened because the other driver had told him and was totally out of line, RUDE, DISRESPECTFUL & JUDGMENTAL assuming & believing LIES told to him by the first driver much like their customer service. We were promised they would assemble everything that was disassembled upon pick up, but changed their tunes and left some of our furniture disassembled. The delivery driver was vulgar and uncouth. He walked around the house using profanity in front of our kids and INSULTED our belongings and family. They threw all of the cardboard boxes in front of the house where they delivered. They damaged some of our furniture and several of our boxes were soaking wet as if those were left in the rain "on purpose" ...was this out of spite because we complained about the driver and the entire pick up process? Needless to say the contents in those boxes were ruined. We contacted their customer service again to file a claim for damage to the furniture and were never compensated a penny for any of the damage. PLEASE DO NOT USE THIS COMPANY. DO NOT USE GREAT VAN LINES OR ANY OF THEIR PARTNER COMPANIES!

DO NOT USE THIS COMPANY! I booked them to move my elderly parents from Alabama to Florida. It has been a NIGHTMARE. They have been totally rude and unprofessional. My parents have now been in Florida 10 DAYS and no one has called us about their items. We were told it would be 1-3 days from pick up. They were scheduled to move them on Wednesday, April 10. They were a day late arriving. Today is Saturday, April 20 and we have NO IDEA where my parents things are! I have called and emailed them everyday!!!! They have been rude and disrespectful to both me and my 80 year old parents. Their estimate was $1300. Now they are trying to charge them over $5000 and they still don’t have their items!!!!! It’s been TEN DAYS AND WAITING. They can’t even give me an ETD. I am on the verge of calling an attorney and I am reporting them to the BBB. Do not use this company. It is a scam. Final cost was double the estimate, no communication during the process, will hold your items for ransom. Don’t let the low estimate suck you in.....these people have no conscience. I am naming names.....Connie in dispatch was horrible, ineffective. Daniella Gold as my moving coordinator seemed fine, but in the end she was no better; Ramsey, driver, contacted me at 6:00 on a Saturday to tell me he would deliver my furniture on Sunday if I had 2K cash to give him. With the moving company I spoke on the phone and received my quote in the $1400's. Couple things i missed when talking with the representative on the phone 1. 3-14 days is 3-14 business days. So the person on the phone did not explain this, and when reading the quote i just glaced over this section because of it. They also have a long carry and Stair fee. $75 more for every 75 feet past the first 75, And $75 for every 10 steps past the first 10. Which is stated on there quote. Now I rated this 3 - 1 because they were still a bit late and they did not explain the 3-14 business days when speaking with them on the phone. 2. When calling up I and asking about my shipment i got the run around by there customer service the first week. a. Got told i would receive a call back before the end of the day, which did not come. Second time I called the customer service told me to call back on Saturday. When I asked if they worked on Sat. She said yet, But of course nobody was there. After speaking about this thou they started getting in touch with me and letting me know when the shipment was arriving. - All stuff was delivered, and only my older office chair had a broken arm. The price is pretty good if you are honest with your cubic feet when speaking with the rep. All they need to really do is fix the customer service a bit. Dont be afraid to say that the truck is a bit behind schedule and i will reach out to you in a few days to give you an update.

Really terrible experience. Once we started unpacking I realized the box that contained my wedding dress and all my jewelry was missing. I had foolishly labelled the outside of that box 'jewelry', not thinking that would make it a target for potential theft. I filed a complaint and made it clear I don't want money for my loss, I really just want that box to be returned to me. Nothing was extremely valuable, but it is irreplaceable and sentimental. It contained jewelry that were wedding gifts from my husband, heirloom pieces from deceased relatives, and items I've had since I was a baby. Not to mention my wedding dress. Four months later, they offer me $72 for their mistake, with no indication that they have put in any effort to actually locate the box. I've tried calling a few times, but they put me on hold, then hang up. They also increased the quoted price by about $1000 once they came to pick up my stuff. So I feel like I overpaid, then got stolen from. DO NOT HIRE THIS MOVING COMPANY.

This is by far the worst moving experience.
