Go To Moving is a relatively small, family owned moving company operating from Staten Island, NY since 2004. Paul, the founder of the company started working as a mover part-time when he was just 17. By his sophomore year of college, Paul made the decision to start working on his own to help pay his tuition. This is how Go To Moving, formerly Vantruckmove started. Paul along with his father and and a few other moving professionals worked intensely and began to build a following in New York City and particularly in Staten Island. Never before has the moving company been the welcomed highlight of a move. But these guys were just that. I moved to NYC to Philly with a budget moving company. They were terrible. I chose Go 2 Moving for my move from Philly to their storage for 6 months, then into Brooklyn. On both moves, the men were kind, quick, and did good work. There are a lot of misstatements by the owner of Go2Moving in his response to my review, which is unfortunate. What is true is that this job was substantially understaffed and therefore the costs were significantly underestimated despite the fact that I had requested a representative of the Company take pictures of the contents required to be moved so that there would be no surprises in the cost to me and no surprises for the movers. the job was originally quoted for 2 days and the moving company had to provide movers for 2 additional days and left me with over 10 crates to unpack myself substantially increasing the final cost over the original quote. Picking a mover is difficult and there are many horror stories regarding movers and the moving process. I will add my experience to the list of moving experiences I wish never to have to go through again. In order to get a "good" estimate I asked Go to Moving to come to my home a one bedroom apartment and take pictures of everything including the closets and kitchen cabinets. I received a reasonable quote of $1805 based on those pictures for packing, moving and unpacking and supplies. I specifically asked that a representative from the moving company come as I did not want an inaccurate estimate and I wanted someone to view all that needed to be moved. I was later told by the owner I had too much "stuff" thus the reason for the overage I experienced in the price. I thought that having a representative from the company come to my apartment would have allowed that person to see all that needed to be packed and therefore provide a reasonably accurate quote. the entire move exceeded the "quote" estimated by 60%. I should have been packed in one day (I was not) and moved and unpacked the second day. I was not unpacked the second day. 3 men had to come back the third day and even they did not finish the unpacking. on the fourth day another man had to come back to help me finish up the unpacking. All of this extra time I had to pay for. I expected white glove service when packing and unpacking and I did not expect to have to do anything but supervise the unpacking. I had to unpack over 20 boxes myself. In hindsight, I should have obtained several quotes including a quote for a flat rate move with packing and unpacking because as Go to Moving will tell you the contract you sign is only an estimate and it is clear from my personal experience, that there is an accuracy issue when estimating manpower and hours required to give the customer a complete job of packing, unpacking and moving. while I expected a slight overage of this estimate as nothing can be perfect I did not expect to expend 60% more than quoted.”

They arrived exactly one minute early, got immediately to work and moved on-stop from the time they arrived until the last box was off loaded. VanTruckMove (aka Go To Moving) was awesome. Steven and the crew arrived at our door promptly at the start time. I actually think they'd been looking for and securing parking for 20minutes prior. They got to work straight away and were very professional and courteous, even getting our huge sofa out fairly easily, where the original delivery company had trouble. If ANYTHING, I would say one of the movers could have been more careful about hitting the hallway walls and blocking the hallway with some boxes, but he promptly apologized to us and the neighbor who complained so that wasn't a real worry. Would highly recommend these guys!”

It's unfortunate I couldn't give a 5 star rating because it wasn't 5 star service and I have to be completely honest about my experience. My quote was for 5 men for 8 hours and I think I would have been better off with a flat rate move because I didn't have much furniture and more of boxes and miscellaneous items. The men were very nice and professional and wrapped everything in site to the point I felt some things didn't need it and cost me extra for cardboard. I also got charged double for what a mattress bag costs in Home Depot so I suggest making sure you have enough bags because I ran short and instead of telling me, they used there's and I got charged 10 bucks a bag. It's not about the money but for the twenty nine hundred I paid, a couple of bags could have been thrown in. I felt the move took more time then it should have and ended up costing me a few extra hundred which I would rather have given to the guys as extra gratuity because it is definitely a difficult job for anyone to do. I had an in home estimate so the fact not all my stuff fit in there truck wasn't my issue and I had to pack both my cars to the windows and they sent a van for only a couple of pieces which was great they were able to send more help, but the van got to my new house before anyone and put all my possessions in the driveway and left my stuff unprotected for anyone to help themselves especially to my 600 bicycle. This really annoyed me and when I spoke to the office I was given an apology and excuses which is what I figured I would get and also deducted 50 bucks off my bill which really was a little bit of a slap in the face. In the end all my stuff was moved, some stuff wasn't reassembled by my choice or it would have cost me another few hundred and I actually feel I got overcharged because I payed about 900 more then the estimate so I feel they should have worked with me more. So the lesson is get a flat rate move and make sure you have you own materials and that you and the movers are on the same page because it also felt a little bit like bad communication.”

The people that work at this company are magicians! Everyone from the office people, to the movers. A fella by the name of Anton was very helpful in organizing my move of an office space. He helped and scheduled a rubbish removal from my office, and was able to collect a group of guys that moved over 40 full filing cabinets on their backs! My office was located on the 3rd floor with a very narrow staircase. The guys were able to strap the filing cabinets on their backs (like backbacks) and carefully carry them down 3 flights of stairs. Mind you, these weighed well over 200lbs each. The moving conditions were harsh; it was raining, there was no space to park the truck because a Chipotle was opening up next door and the whole block was barricaded off by national grid. These poor guys had to carry things a full block after taking heavy items down 3 flights of stairs. They handled themselves very well; they were professional and friendly. They did a lot more than originally agreed upon. They helped us take apart furniture at the new office and put other furniture together. They helped us take out the trash from the new office and move furniture exactly how we wanted them. I would recommend this company and the group of 5 guys that I had any day to my friends and family. If anyone that helped us with the move reads this, I would like to personally thank each and every one of you for making our move less stressful and putting in more effort than you had to.”

These guys were incredible. We moved from our fully furnished 3 bedroom to another one 4 hours away. They came in the morning, moved us out/disassembled large pieces of furniture, drove 4 hours, moved everything up a tight stairwell, and unpacked/reassembled everything. All in one day! They were consummate professionals and everything arrived in one piece. When there was a scratch on one piece, they seemed genuinely perturbed and fixed it up the best they could. And when they couldn't get a large couch through a tight space, they worked for nearly an hour to get it through so we wouldn't have to take the couch apart. The movers are great at what they do and want to be flawless at it. That's really refreshing. Will use these guys again and recommend to everyone. These guys are unbelievable! I hadn't moved in 23 years and was absolutely terrified. My girlfriend and I were moving in together and both of us were coming from different apartments as well as having stuff at a parent's house. In just a 4 hour window the Go To Moving and Storage guys picked up furniture and boxes from New Jersey drove in to Chelsea in Manhattan, picked up a whole apartment's worth of furniture and boxes and made yet another stop and picked up more furniture and boxes at my girlfriend's apartment before reaching the final destination. This is a move where so many things could have gone wrong, but didn't! It couldn't have gone more perfectly! Phil, Rob and Chris we're such pros! It was like a well oiled machine the three of them together plus they were very nice and fun to be around. They made one of the most terrifying and stressful days of our life a breeze and we couldn't thank them more. I'm hoping this glowing review will help bring them some much-deserved business. I should also mention the price was so reasonable I felt guilty and gave them an anonymous and well deserved tip. It's the least I could have done! I hired go to moving last minute after another company cancelled on me 2 days before the move. Their rates were somewhat higher but from the beginning I had a much better feeling about the whole process. They sent me a contract to review, put a deposit on my credit card and confirmed the move the day before. You can imagine I was very relieved when they showed up about 10 minutes early and got right to work. I think the workers noticed I was a little stressed as a result of the uneasy experience with the other company... and they were extremely pleasant to be around. This five star company charged our credit card $200 more than we verbally agreed upon. We disputed via our credit card company. Our bank found in our favor, and issued us a new credit card as a security concern. This company had a perfect well-planned response to everything. They knew how to get the evidences and cover their own trail. They would then try to shame, harass and embarrass you. It's hard to believe we are the first victims but we may be the first ones who refuse to shut up. If you didn't fall into the trap and didn't go along with their plans, they would post your personal info online. They may have removed our full name from the link below but what's done, it's done. I sincerely hope there won't be another victims. You know the owners have mental issues when they are so obsessed with one negative Yelp review. If you refuse to give this company five stars on Yelp, they would first call and harass you and claim this was a faked review. Then they would threatened legal action. If you refused to back down, they would post pictures of your home and full name online. Feel free to check out how this business responded to our review. We are not embarrassed because we aren't the ones who require a license to operate. Do you really want somebody whom you initially trusted, invited them to your home, took pictures where they were not authorized to go in, and invaded your privacy like this? We have animals and so we locked certain areas. We contacted NYS Attorney General office, and we will be filing a formal written complaint upon their recommendation. There are other moving companies nearby. Use the alternative please. We refuse to back down because we as the consumers have the right to voice our opinions. This business cared about their own "reputation" than their customer's personal data, such as names, addresses and credit card numbers. The other reviews must be faked. They got the wrong truck and couldn't even finish, and refuse, to finish the job. Lucky I still had days left with my lease. This is totalling unacceptable and unprofessional, and I will be filing complaint. They are just totally dishonest. THIS GUY HAS AN ISSUE. Please go find another moving company. There are other plenty moving companies nearby. Please don't give him your phone number and let him know where you live. This is a serious business. And no my home doesn't have bed bug. All my stuff was left in my garage and not even in the rooms where it was labeled as well. I heard one of the movers say he would leave my shoes in the garage. Very costly damages. We went with the flat rate quote, but they were very clear and upfront about any additional fees we might incur (which wasn't too much). We had them do some packing, and they didn't overuse packing materials even though they were charging for them. I got a little stressed about halfway through because we had a time constraint with the elevator at our new building; however, Lee and his crew, as well as Eugene, were responsive to my concerns and made sure the job was done in time. 2nd time we've used them. This time an employee stole my engagement ring and 2 necklaces. He went digging in my jewelry box while in the bathroom, nothing in there was to be moved. I was told all their employees worked with them for a long time and we're like family. Turns out this one didn't. Before he was caught, the owner wanted to help, after the employee got arrested, radio silence. No apology or anything for lying. I blame them just as much as the thief. Ring was not recovered. This was hands down the BEST moving experience I have ever had. I needed to bring some additional furniture out from the east coast to the midwest, where I relocated a while back. After searching for cross country movers -- Paul and his team were one of the first companies that came up, coincidentally located in Staten Island, where my items were coming from. But, my rave review has little to do with that geographic fact. Paul was incredibly responsive -- working with me to figure out the most appropriate sized truck, keeping both my budget and needs in mind at all times. He communicated clearly and consistently -- never dropping out of touch and rolling with all my adjustments and questions. He was super organized -- sending an excel sheet that allowed us both to review and keep track of our planning. He and all of his colleagues were so kind -- I've honestly never dealt with movers who were so, well, just plain nice. Also, Paul was very proactive in assessing and re-assessing my list of items, trying to get me the best deal, and being flexible both with how they planned the move, and wanting to make sure I was not surprised by the numbers. His team - those that moved the furniture - were also Top-Notch! They were quick, efficient, and careful at the origin destination, even moving some other furniture into place to take the spot of what had been moved. They were communicative and cordial -- upon arrival, and were so smart and caring while moving in all my items, being vigilant with large/delicate items and zipping through the re-assembly of two complicated beds.
