This was a great experience....from the beginning Jackie, my assigned coordinator, showed care and patience making sure I under stood all my options and any related costs. I was moving from Massachusetts to Florida during a pandemic. Everything was so well coordinated and I felt very well cared for...the team came the day before the actual move to pack up my kitchen and all the delicate stuff (china, crystal, art and the like). It was amazing to watch these professionals at work. They came masked and gloved, working quickly and efficiently and with care. It was amazing to watch them!!! They also wrapped the largest furniture pieces. The next day they loaded the truck with the same care and efficiency. Everything arrived on time and in excellent shape at the other end. Again, the unpacking of the truck and placing each piece of furniture or box exactly where I wanted it, was done gloved, masked and with great care. I can’t say enough good things about gentle giant! I was anxious about moving while taking care of an infant and a five year old but our movers took care of everything, even wrapped our TVs and furniture. They moved things so quickly, running back and forth, and we moved from a 3rd/4th floor walk up. They also went to our storage unit to pick up our remaining things. Our movers were so accommodating to anything I asked and seemed upbeat and happy to be there. We also used their piano movers, which included a crane, the team was very efficient and friendly. They were able to accommodate a last minute date change and stored our piano for a few extra days. They are maybe not the cheapest: I don't know, and frankly I am so happy with what they provide for the fees they charge why mess around with quotes form uncertain providers. (And I do drive an extra mile and/or shop around for cheaper gas, groceries, car insurance...) The team is competent, CAREFUL, punctual, well humored, quick, responsive to input (be clear upfront about any preferences or wishes) and well-sized for the move. They get the job done with minimal hassle. If moving is a just a get'r done commondity to you.. I'm sure these guys will do the job. But if you value your peace of mind, these folks are definitely the movers for you! And I hear its a great place to work, too.”

Avoid at all costs. Overpriced, for starters. Office and warehouse staff are rude. GG packed up and stored my household goods - antiques, oriental rugs, stained glass lamps, art etc. I got things out of storage broken, saturated in dust, suffering water damage and eaten by moths - a huge infestation. They lost items. Go elsewhere. The actual "Giants" who do the truck loading and unloading from/into your home are ok. But the rest....Don't waste your money.”

We had a great experience with them this past weekend. From the beginning and coordination of the move with David Craig and then all the planning through the day of was very professional and organized. We had them both pack and prep our apartment one day and then move us the next day. Pack and prep went smoothly and quickly all within the estimate given to us. We had Kristian Roch and Kelvin Monteiro and they were both friendly and personable, more than any other moving company movers we have used in the past. Kristian gets extra points for listing to good podcasts while he packed (he asked us if he could and we didn't care at all!). Day two was Kristian again with Aidan o Reilly and Eric Welch. Again, can't say enough about professionalism and being efficient the entire morning. Our own stress came from our parking permit spaces being taken, calling cops to tow, the usual fun moving day crap in Boston, but the crew remained organized, positive, and reassuring the entire time. They were truly accommodating and we would happily use them again, as long as they are willing to move our oversized couch again down the narrow stairwell in our new building 🙂 Sorry guys, we appreciate your hard work very much. I have used Gentle Giant for about 20 years for many moves. The company previously had very high standards for customer service at every level. Most recently, however, their first line customer service is completely abominable!!! The people who quote the estimates and assist customer's needs prior to booking. I'm so sorry to say it's a complete and utter failure with contentious, hostile responses from the clearly entitled employee I dealt with! Larry, you're better than this. To let your employees hold you hostage is just wrong and is the antithesis of your values. I'm out. Don't need to be abused by customer "service"!!”

I rarely leave reviews but the sales tactics for this moving company are incredibly aggressive. I filled out a contact form on Monday evening. By Tuesday morning at 8 a.m., I already had a voicemail from them. I called Tuesday afternoon, talked with a salesperson and received a quote. I mentioned I would need to chat with my boyfriend to discuss who we would be moving forward with and that I would be in touch if we were interested in hiring them. Wednesday morning at 8 a.m., they called. Thursday morning at 8 a.m., they called. And finally, Friday, at 10 a.m., I answered and asked them to please stop calling me. While we never considered hiring them because their quote was -- I kid you not -- three times higher than any other quote we received, this type of frequent calling doesn't make a sale. It irritates a customer and doesn't make us want to work with such an aggressive sales team. Also, in any professional service, calling before 9 a.m., is invasive and disrespectful to a household's schedule and sleep. If you do go with them, make sure to read the fine print -- we realized they were charging a (ridiculous) amount for mattress protectors and other unnecessary goods that we can buy ourselves. I also specifically asked for four hours and they were the only company to double it to eight, even though it definitely will not take that long to move across the city of Boston.”

We were originally planning to use both full packing service and moving service, but with the covid pandemic becoming increasingly bad, we opted to pack most of our place instead. Under the circumstances, they were able to find a spare truck so that they could move us a day early. They still packed our kitchen and breakables for us, as well as moving us from home to home all in the same day--all in 7 hours! Everything was packed securely; no damage to any items or furniture. In our new home, they confirmed where we wanted each piece of furniture, adjusting anything heavy or bulky for us. They were all friendly and efficient, and completely understanding of our need to complete our move one day earlier than planned. Will definitely recommend them, and use them for future moves!”

Moving is always stressful, but mine was made particularly so by a (literal + unanticipated) last minute apartment change, amidst the COVID pandemic! This meant changes in moving plans on the day of the move including a larger crew. The move coordinator was thankfully very flexible and was able to accommodate my request. Regarding the actual move, Jeff, Isaac, and Alex were wonderfully efficient and thorough- my fragile items were securely wrapped and all arrived unscathed up a third floor walk up, my furniture was arranged to specifications etc. This was among the most seamless moves that I have ever made. This poor review is due to overcharging, refusing to get back to me on the cost concerns, plus an issue that occurred during the move. During the move, they had to move my large parrot cages. 2 of the wheels came off previously, and while we were moving I told the crew that these were not replaceable and I needed them. One of them grabbed them and said he would take them with him. I needed these to put back on the cages after they were moved. These cages weigh over 100lbs and I was going to need help from a friend to reattach them. Moving these cages to clean with missing wheels is very hard to do. Replacing them costs over $500 per cage. I've now gone through everything and the wheels are not at my new place Of course now the moving crew is claiming they may have been left back at the start point. I checked, and they are not. I also know this is a lie because I saw the staff member leave the house with them. I looked at the late, and I was charged for 1 and 1/2 hrs to get from the warehouse in Somerville to another address in Somerville. That obviously is not true. They also claimed it took 1 hr to get to Peabody. It doesn't take me an hour to get to Boston in the morning during rush hour traffic. I emailed the Move Coordinator with the issues. She initially got back to me with the lie that the movers may have left the wheels, and stated the truck was clear when they checked after the move. I told her the circumstances about the wheels. I also mentioned the cost issues and she stated she would look into it. After not hearing back for 2 weeks, I sent a follow up email with no reply. I'm purchasing a house shortly. Guess who won't be doing this move??”
