“ We used them for a recent move from Asheville after hearing positive things and seeing Yelp reviews. Unfortunately, I cannot give them a good rating. In my opinion, the customer service delivered by the office staff was extremely poor. And, in my experience, Gasperson Moving is not very good at communicating with their customers. Our first appointment for (paid) packing was cancelled on the day it was scheduled to happen by phone - with a claim by the operations manager that she had left a voicemail message the night before -- this was untrue. There was no record of any call from Gasperson. We continued to be polite and patient. The packers showed up the next day and were very nice, efficient guys, but the office puts the whole operation to shame. Our long distance move (12 hours away) could have gone much more smoothly. Problems with broken promises by the driver led me to call the office on a Saturday morning, only to learn that they do not answer calls after hours or on weekends! This was so frustrating. Their response 2 days later: take your complaint to North American Van Lines. My response: "But, don't you want to know if things go poorly?" I even emailed the president of the company -- no response. There is no place to go if you have a problem off hours or on a Saturday and want to contact them. And that was not clear when I hired them. Instead, you get switched to a call center in Indiana somewhere and they have no contact information for Gasperson's staff other than the same numbers that we had. I also tried emailing people there, asking for a quick call. No answers came until Monday, and then it was horrible! When I wrote a complaint via email on Monday I got a nasty attitude and excuses in the reply from the operations manager, Audra. I called later and asked to speak to the owner, Tom H. She answered. He was not in and after questioning, I told her that I was calling to complain about the poor service. I got an earful of her yelling her excuses. She actually hung up on me when I called out her unprofessional behavior. I have moved many times and never had a problem. So, based on our experience, I'd say go elsewhere if you need a local mover in Asheville, NC or long distance. We remain disappointed.”

Not only were they cheerful but helpful and problem solving - my belongings were in a POD, the load had shifted and they confidently figured out how to maneuver the contents to open the door and access the load with absolutely no damage! “ 3 1/2 stars. This company was recommended to me by a friend that used them 3x. She was happy with all three moves and how they handled her important furniture pieces. The crew was very nice and so was customer service. I appreciated them coming to view for an estimate. Which is what I ended up paying at the end. I didn't have much furniture but much of what I had was heavy and they had some steps to deal with. It was a long day and as it wore on (after about 8 hours) the guys were very tired and panting. I felt sorry for them cause that is hard work. And I was tired too. But you could tell they were ready to go and got much more slack in taking care of the furniture towards the end and in more of a hurry. One piece had a big gouge in it which couldn't be fixed and I didn't get extra insurance but it wasn't a real expensive piece so I didn't say anything. I ended up donating it. Couldn't be fixed. Also places on wall.... paint was rubbed off from bringing in pieces. Not sure I would use again. But I tipped the guys for all their hard work. They were very nice.”

“ Gasperson Movers were grossly negligent and carelessly mishandled a piece of equipment that was hand built, dropping it complete off the raised lift of the truck, a height about 5 feet. They took it back to their shop and pounded and bent the metal back so that the screws would just barely fit and brought it back to me totally non operational. They then refused to honor the basic insurance of 60 cent per pound unless I provided a complete schematic and brochure of the equipment which was about 7 years old. That information if it could be found would be totally irrelevant since they were only paying by the pound.”

“ We were not please with our moving experience. One mahogany bedside table was really scratched up. We were not allowed to see it. Gasperson got someone to refinish it but it was not done properly. The other one had a shiny finish. The one they worked on did not. Also, they lost a Longeberger basket trash can that was a retired basket. They wanted an invoice (I have had it 15 years) and paid $250 for it. Because it is retired, it would be worth much more. Obviously I did not have a receipt. They refused to reimburse for the loss of the basket. Two men came to deliver the furniture. One gentleman was very nice. The other one was very rude to the other delivery person. It got so bad that my husband made him leave. The delivery was very late. Around 10:00 p.m. The reason is was so late was that Gasperson Moving was hired to deliver all of the voting booths in Buncombe County that day. The person setting up the delivery in the office did not notice this and called to see if we could change dates 2 days before the move. We could not because it was an apartment and the lease was only through that date. When my son was in high school and in college (1999-2001), he worked for Gasperson Moving during the summer months and he loved it and the people he worked with. We have always used Gasperson Moving for all our moving (8 times over the years). This was when Tom Hunnicutt first started his business and I think he only had about 3 trucks. Gasperson Moving is highly rated in Asheville. I was very disappointed and frustrated with everything related to this move. I feel that Tom should "make this right". Fran Singerman Shanor”

We would never use this company again nor would we ever tip the packers and moving employees again until all furniture is thoroughly inspected after the delivery. Then, and only then, would we tip and it would be based on the quality of work done. The employees would understand up front that we would be sending their tip to the office after we have inspected all the furniture, etc that they handle. We tipped generously and received very poor workmanship! There were MORE pieces of our furniture damaged then not! Also, the lady in the office was not very polite to work with!”

“ Gasperson moved me from Chapel Hill to Washington, DC in August of 2016. They did a phenomenal job packing and moving my furniture. They were extremely easy to work with and gave me a very reasonable and fair price. I used Gasperson again in 2018 when I moved from DC to Durham. “ I would give them a one star, except Billy, Jackson and Cody were great. They worked hard and did a great job. I cannot say the same for the staff. In December 2017, Gasperson moved me from an Alexander location to a Woodfin Location (4000 square feet house) with two trucks and 4 men. They were super. So good that I decided to use them again. My contact with their estimator, Kaleb, came and I had told him I would move the boxes myself with my brother-in-law and sister. My brother in law wrecked his truck so I called Aubrey to let her know that I would be moving everything as I did from Alexander and to use the same vehicles. She informed me that Kaleb knew what I needed - not me On my moving day, the movers showed up (4 men) and one HUGE truck. So big it could not get up my drive without tearing two extra large limbs off one of my trees and once it got to the top of the drive it could not turn around. Of course they backed down and went back to the warehouse. I called for a reschedule, which in my opinion, they should have been calling me. Anyway they scheduled me on the first available - two weeks later. Everything in my house was boxed. I had to sleep on the floor and eat fast food for two weeks. Then it was on a Saturday which was fine for me but I was informed that it would have been time and a half for the workers but they were waving the half time. That's all I got for my delay and inconvenience which was their mistake. Then they showed up on Sat with a small truck and another truck. Again not enough to move me. I was given the amount and I signed authorization for the bill with my credit card number and information. I ended up having to pay someone else to move the rest of my stuff the next day, Sunday. I received a notification from my credit card company and Aubrey charged me $150.00 more than I authorized. I called her and she said they forgot to charge me for an extra truck. A truck that was too small. I do not recommend Gasperson because it seems the office personnel does not know anything about listening to the customer and also adding charges after the authorization for one amount has been signed. Look out.”

“ In September 2018, we used gasperson to move us from Asheville to Charleston, SC. My complaint is not with the actual movers. They did a good job. My complaint is with the company's business manager. I made a single claim for a filing cabinet, which had been damaged during the move. After asking me not to report this to North American Van Lines, we negotiated a settlement of $50, which she promptly sent me a check in December. The check bounced. I contacted her immediately. She replied another check would be in the mail in few days. It's February 17, 2019 and I have yet to receive it. I have called several times and left messages. No return call. If I had given them a bad check and refused to honor it, I imagine they would have taken me to court. To me this is dishonest; a red flag that something is not going well with this business. I will not recommend them to future customers. Monday I must contact Asheville's BBB.”
