Absolutely amazing service by 1st Choice movers! Getting the estimate and scheduling the move was simple. Derek the owner was incredibly responsive. They sent 3 packers on day 1 who helped pack up a lot of the more difficult things we hadn't taken care of yet (kitchen, closets, decorations). Jess, Brenda & Tamara were hard-working, pleasant and efficient. Not only did they take care of the things we had asked for but they were super helpful in pointing out areas we hadn't thought of where they could help. There's no way we could have packed up as much as they did in one day. If you haven't considered having someone else pack your stuff, this was money well spent!! On moving day, the movers they sent were just as awesome. Jose, Jerzy, Lyle, & Roy were friendly, careful and worked fast. They packed and unloaded all of our belongings with care and placed them exactly where we needed them in the new house. If they weren't sure they checked with us first. In 7 hours they had loaded and unloaded two completely full 26 foot trucks! It is so rare these days to receive such fantastic customer service from beginning to end. Planning & Walkthrough: My husband and I planned a move about 4 weeks in advance. Derek was very responsive, came in and did a detailed walkthrough. He gave us heads up on the things that could break and that we should be prepared for that (ex: IKEA cabinets, pots in our backyard) but was very forthcoming in being to move these regardless. Estimate: After the walkthrough, Derek gave us a detailed estimate, offered possible incentives and also gave us a NOT-TO-EXCEED $$ amount. Cannot emphasize how much peace of mind that caused us! That way, we knew that if anything happened on moving day and we blew the estimated hours, we still pay the NOT-TO-EXCEED amount. Moving Day: Derek's team arrived on dot, they introduced themselves and did a walkthrough of the home. NOTE: Our move fell right in the COVID-19 timeframe and everyone on his team was wearing gloves, masks and kept their distance. INCREDIBLE PROFESSIONALISM. Such an amazing team of folks who remained positive, laughed, joked with each other and kept moving through the process! The packing material, the care taken for furniture was just TOP CLASS! They kept us informed through the process and gave us updates as needed. Unloading was also as organized as the loading. They set up runners all the way from the entrance through the stairs so the floors would not get dirty. We had labeled each box with the room it goes to and they followed instructions to the T! As with the loading, they asked pertinent questions of where to drop things off as they went along with the unloading. Finally, some highlights and shout outs: 1. Our move took much longer than initially estimated, but the NOT-TO-EXCEED estimate was the bomb! We didn't stress for one moment about any additional costs. GO DEREK!! 2. THE TEAM! Lyle, Jerzy, Salvador and Kris - You guys are just incredible! We are SO thankful for everything you did, and in this COVID-19 climate, you continue to do what you do despite being faced with the unknown! You guys are truly HEROES! 3. Integrity and follow-through: We planned our move in advance of the COVID-19 outbreak and then we had this dropped on us. Derek confirmed that they are essential business and he would move us as committed. For anyone planning a move, I cannot emphasize ENOUGH the VALUE of this kind of follow through and commitment to work. I would hire Derek and his team and recommend him to everyone we know just for this! 4. Price: For this quality of moving, Derek's price was VERY REASONABLE. Alex and Sal(sp?) arrived a little before 9 AM and were ready to roll. I was so disappointed with 1st Choice Movers. They did not wear masks when they entered my home. And when we asked them to wear a mask two of the men informed us that they forgot their mask and tried to reassure us that they didn't have COVID. And when prompt how they new that (did they get tested) they didn't have an answer. During this pandemic I would expect essential business like movers to take the State, County, and City guidelines seriously. In addition, the movers were reading through our things when they delivered our package to our house. This was an invasion of privacy and I didn't pay people to laugh at my possessions. For these reasons I do NOT recommend!!!”

This was my first time using both packers and movers. I've had to move several times in the past few years and have always done it myself (rented a truck, asked for friends help, etc.). This move would be pretty big one for me and my husband - about two hours away from San Diego, and booking with 1st Choice Movers was the best decision we could have made to make our move so incredibly stress-free! Derek was the one whom we coordinated with and he was always quick to respond and clear with his communication. He was upfront about the cost and the final estimate actually ended up being a bit lower than what he quoted to us originally! The day before the big move the packing team showed up - Brenda, Lily, and Vanessa. We were informed that they would arrive at 9am, but they were told to come at 8:30am from management - no big deal at all though, just a slight miscommunication (and coming early never hurts!). The three ladies were professional, super nice, and worked quickly. If they had any questions about whether something needed to get packed or not, they didn't hesitate to ask. We're currently in the process of unpacking at our new place, and we have yet to see anything that's broken or damaged. They finished packing up our 1 bedroom apartment in just under 2.5 hours. The big move was the next day and Alex, Jerzy, and Lalo were the moving team - they showed up right on time. Like the packing team, they were professional and efficient. They were able to load things up in about 2 hours and unload in 1 short hour! My husband and I were amazed at how quick they were. We also did buy them lunch and expected them to take a longer break, but after about 10 minutes of eating they continued working hard. The total move day was about 5.5 hours for us (2 hours to load, 2 hours to drive, a little over 1 hour to unload). If you have any anxiety about moving, definitely hire this team! They will put you at ease and allow you to have a stress-free move day (which I never thought could be possible before this!). We can't emphasize enough how each team member was extremely professional, efficient, and friendly. Also, in these times especially (but even during non-pandemic times), if someone does an amazing job and you're pleased with the work - give them a tip! We tipped both of the packers and the movers as we were completely satisfied with their work.”

The team (Alex, Daniel and Jose) was on time, friendly, very conscientious of wrapping and packing everything to be sure it didn't get damaged. They were very responsive to all of my questions and requests. There was one small scratch made on the new floor but the movers brought it to my attention immediately and the owner sent someone to fix the scratch within days and it looks like it never happened. The whole moving experience was very pleasant and easy and I was impressed by the integrity shown with the floor scratch situation.
