If I could give less than one star, I would. I used family movers yesterday and they are absolutely the worst moving company I have ever dealt with and I use movers frequently. They arrived late to start and when they did arrive they showed me the ticket- which was already filled out mind you for two hours(the time we hired them for). The main guy started off by telling me that he could definitely finish the move within two hours(we had a small truck) and that if they did happen to go over these were the prices and literally was bringing up the fact that he expected a big tip from the moment he arrived. He then blared music over his cell phone through a speaker that he put in his pocket and played vulgar music in front of two children- way to be classy. Several of our items are damaged due to the way the handled them and they choose to ignore their customers after they've been paid. The second guy worked his butt off, but the main guy maid sure that he milked his time by hanging out by the truck or adjusting the music he played through the speaker. They finished at 2 hours and 12 minutes and the guy forced me to pay for an extra half hour, but wouldn't write it on the first page of the carbon copied receipt- only the second- they are obviously scamming the owners of the company. I would have loved to show the management/owner the copy of the receipt that I have versus the one they turned in, however, now they are ignoring my calls and of course, their voicemail box is full. So, after 24 hours of trying to call and being ignored, I'm leaving this review. Read the bad reviews here, because I'd be willing to bet they are the only ones writing the good reviews.”

I'm torn on a star level. I booked them last minute because we were coming from out of town. We only needed help unloading our truck. Good things: They showed up on time and had a sense of urgency. They also did not start the clock until they started moving things into the apartment. Bad things: just like another reviewer on here, I kind of felt like they did a bait and switch. They said they were sending two guys, and then sent three. While the guys were loading in, the scheduler called me and asked if he could add 40 dollars to my quotes price of 185 for two hours since he had sent three guys instead of two. On one hand, I felt like this was fair, but also felt like I had no choice. They had already begun working. In general, I still felt like it was a decent price for the move and the guys were super diligent and polite. I was happy to tip them. I just wish they had been more upfront.”

I called for a last minute move and these guys not only stepped up but they hit it out of the park! I was scheduled as the 2nd move of the day and they actually called saying they would be showing up an hour earlier than anticipated which is unheard of but very much appreciated. The two gentlemen that arrived (I only remember Miguels name) were professional and expedient. There were loose items in my storage unit and they loaned me boxes to get those packed up as well. Once we got to the apartment they got the truck unloaded and up to my 3rd floor apartment in record time. These guys are POWER HOUSES!!! There was a minor billing issue which Armando cleared up quickly. All in all they made my move as easy and stress free as a move can be and the next time I move I fully plan on using these guys!”

We have moved many times and these guys were great - straight hourly rate and fuel charge - they provided everything needed (we packed ourselves). Jesus, Alex and (I forgot the drivers name) all showed up ready to work - all wearing company shirts in a company vehicle. For the first time ever - which I think every moving company should have is a padded/carpeted floor in the truck! This is not our first rodeo and when know how to make sure our stuff it taken care of - we tipped the guys $20 each before even starting the work - yes this does really help! All the guys were personable and had a great sense of humor which made things even more enjoyable. We made sure they had drinks and provided lunch (it was a larger move) which I know was not expected but the guys did show much appreciation. We offered another $20 tip each upon completion for the great work.”

Today I learned how to patch a hole in my wall in my first home less then a week after I moved in. Why is this relevant to this review? Because Family Movers are the ones that put it there, and after repeated conversations and text messages to set up a time that would be convenient for THEM to come and fix my wall, they did not show up and now my calls are being ignored. They also left some of my stuff in my apartment elevator and after I got a call about it they had to go back at the end of the day to pick it up. What a lack of professionalism.”

Family movers were recommended to me highly by a family member, my experience started off well they were able to schedule me in on short notice. The movers showed up on time and worked hard. They had difficulty moving one of my items and ihad to leave work to help them which was not ideal but ok since we were able to move it into my new apartment . Once all was done I handed one of the guys a 75 dollar tip for the 3 hours of moving and he mentioned in Spanish to another (Manuel) the amount he received after which Manuel then proceeded to complain and argue to me about how much I gave them as a tip saying "they should have been given at least 50 dollars a piece." I nearly took back the amount I gave them which was all I had to give but felt the other two guys deserved a tip for their hard work. I will not be using family movers in the future. Very rude and ungrateful”

I'm happy to say that I had a great experience with these guys! They showed up a bit earlier than I expected, but they managed to work around the mess that was in the way. The guys were professional and friendly. Being that they were getting paid hourly, I was weary of them dragging their feet. However, they got the job done very quickly and efficiently. Instead of just unloading my stuff and leaving, they helped reassemble my bed and arrange the furniture so it all fit into my studio. There's a two hour minimum charge and a one-time fuel charge, but they got the job done in less than an hour and a half. The drive itself was clear across town. These guys deserved the $80 tip that I gave them and I wish I could've afforded more! Thanks for making my move a stress-free one. If I ever have to move again, hopefully not anytime soon, I'm definitely using this company again! FYI if you pay by credit card there is a 3% upcharge. Also, they don't start the clock until they arrive at your house, so that's a plus.”

I've used them twice, once when I moved from out of state (sorry Colorado). .. my pod was delivered to my apartment... They unloaded the pod up to the third floor apartment that did not have an elevator and did it with a smile on their faces. I use them again when I moved from that third floor apartment to my home that's two stories with a basement, again with a smile on their face. On time, great with my house and stuff, very quick, smart and efficient. I have recommended them to all of my friends who have moved and every single one of them have had a wonderful experience. We've now used Family Movers three times for both local and long distance. They still earn our highest review. First, they stay in contact with you throughout. They show up when they are supposed to. They know what they are doing and have been able to meet all challenges faced with large pieces and strange doorways. Most of all, they are kind and helpful. If you've ever used the big national companies for a long distance move, you know that an apartment-sized load has to "wait" until there is a truck going to your location with space available. This makes it very difficult to plan effectively, and your stuff is loaded into storage, which increases the probability of damage. I cannot understand why they receive negative reviews; I have to think there is more to the story. Pressure to give tips? Never. We have used Family Movers twice, and had great experiences both times. First experience, they loaded a U Haul for us in a move to another state. Second experience, they flew to another state and moved us back to Denver. Both times, everything worked smoothly. They were on time, had great communication (texts, emails, and phone calls), worked quickly and carefully--no damage to items or to property. A couple of items were challenging, and they were very skilled. As other have noted, you need to provide cash or a cashier's check in order to keep prices low. This is totally understandable given that they are a small business and credit cards are expensive to process. Trust is a funny word to use with a mover, but Armando and the crew have earned my trust. Give them a call.”

We booked Family Movers because it was highly recommended by our apartment complex. The gentleman on the phone was very nice, promptly responded and provided us with a quote. It was fairly inexpensive. They charged us for the X movers by the hours and the truck fee which was $79. We requested for three movers to move just furniture. Prior to the move, my roommate and had all the furniture taken apart/moved to the door, so all they had to do was load it in to the truck and load it in to the house we were moving in to. We also were moving all the boxes ourselves using our cars to save on time. So all they were moving was beds, dressers, two tables, and some tv stands. We had two gentleman arrive to load out the furniture. It was a change in our plans but they were able to do the job. They were efficicent and wrapped the furniture in pads and what not. Every thing was taken to the house safe and sound. We had a few weird interactions that made us feel uncomfortable. The one gentleman would say very borderline rude comments to us at the beginning but we really thought nothing of it. Towards the end of they seemed to try and stall around, asking us to assemble furniture, asked us to reassumble furniture to move and what not. Not a service we really needed. I appreciate that they asked us if we needed any additional help but it also came off rather pushy. Then finally, we get to the tip. I was really hoping this had been dealt with by management since the reviews about the tip situation were from prior years. Sigh. As we were settling up the bill, the one mover started bringing up the tip over and over. We generously tipped them 25%. And he asked us to throw in another $20 each because they did the job with one less person and saved us money. I told them nicely that was not going to happen and thanked them for there help. This very much spoiled our experience. Wonderful movers but very odd ending to a rather good efficient move.”

I used Family movers 3 times. The first time it was a great experience. The actual family members moved my stuff to storage. I recommended them to many people. The second time I used them, the guys they sent were straight out of prison. I had multiple things stolen. Small things that you never notice until you are putting things away. The third time is when we actually moved everything from storage into our new house. Every piece of wood furniture was scratched. Coffee and end table glass was wrapped in plastic and all pieces were chipped. The guys that did the work were all talking Spanish. No big deal except the crap that they were talking behind your back when they think you don't understand. To make it worse they beg for a larger tip as if they are not getting paid. Family Movers SUCK!”

PLEASE READ BEFORE USING FAMILY MOVERS!!!! There's so much I could say about this company, I will explain as much as possible. I originally was quoted $236.00 for 2 hours of work and I made sure to tell them everything I had. Once they arrived to my property they added another $150.00 to the bill for a item I already told them I had with the original bid. I called the boss to let him know about the added on fee's and how I was being misled and he did nothing to help me. When they started moving they were complaining about how they're going to loose their $100 "TIP". These guy's bragged about how they have been doing this for 30 years blah blah blah. They constantly were complaining about the weight of any and all items I had. They complained about working for the company "Family Movers" and how they don't make anything and how the $100 TIPS mean everything. The fact that they wanted to brag about how long they have been doing this for and still complaining about the weight of my items is funny to me. I also had to help them with everything because they were very slow and weak. I would think over 30 years or experience you would be ripped and in shape. Once we moved everything in my place 3 hours later, they hit me with the bill for $476.00. When I was going to pay the mover said "Right here is were you can leave us your $100.00 tip EACH!! I said no I'll tip cash and gave them $80.00 total. Then he went on to complain about the $80.00 TIP! The only reason I tip $80.00 is because that will be the last penny you'll ever see from me and I hope this review make other people AVOID using FAMILY MOVERS. Whatever you get quoted I promise you'll spend way more. They lure you in with a great price and when it's over they use ticky tacky HIGH PRESSURE tactics to make you feel bad for them to tip $100.00 EACH they will F*ck you good and raw! STAY AWAY!!!!”

So disappointed. We had used Family Movers before and had a good enough experience that I hired them to move my college aged daughter. They showed up on time and moved her without incedent. But when it came time to settle up the bill, they completely took advantage of the fact that my daughter had never done this before. Jose and Mark told her the cost was $301, she paid him $370 (tip included), but then he handed her a receipt for $257 and they pocketed the rest as a big tip. 2 hours of work plus a truck. They overcharged her and did not give her the cash discount agreed upon. When I complained to the owner Armando, he wrote back saying he was out of town but would look in to it....now he completely ignores my emails. Stay away from this company!!!”

He and his team stopped by for an estimate and they were very pleasant and professional, which eased my concerns. Armando called the night before the move to confirm, which I really appreciated. The morning of the move, Alex and Mario showed up a few minutes before my scheduled time (great surprise) and were incredibly friendly. Within 30 minutes, my apartment was packed up and we were on our way about 20 minutes north to my new place. Family Movers is outstanding! I've used them three times and each time is was a pleasure to work with them. They work extremely hard (and don't take a lot of breaks - like some other movers). I also appreciated that they weren't smokers - and didn't fill my house with 2nd hand smoke (unlike another moving company we used in another city!). They were on time, were extremely diligent about our furniture/boxes and also set up the house with runners and cardboard to ensure no walls or floors were scratched during the move. We recently hired Family Movers to help us move our items from one location to another in the same complex. We advised them weeks in advance of this complex being stairs only. They arrived over an hour late with no phone call. We had to initiate contact. They came with one less person. They offered an additional hour of work due to this at the same price, which we never ended up using. We moved a number of our own items because of their tardiness. We even started to load up our own car with boxes to help once they arrived. They complained the entire time. We offer refreshments and whatever else they needed. We had to move the boxes into rooms, they did not assist in this other than bringing them into the residence. When it came time to pay we were brow beat by them over the tip. They told us they nearly canceled on us. I saw in other reviews this was a complaint where the workers heckled them about tips. This company came recommended, but we will not use them in the future. If you want more money, then include it in your costs.”
