DO NOT use these people. I am very disappointed after they came highly recommended from a coworker. They don't answer their phone or return your calls and they take their time getting to you and moving your stuff. It took them over 5 hours for maybe a 3.5 hour job and we only moved 5 miles away. All they had to do was move the big stuff, I moved all of the little boxes and stuff myself. I wonder how long it would have taken them if I had them move everything. They left grease and dirt stains on my couches and they broke the leg on a stand-up mirror. One of the movers said that he could take and get it fixed no problem but then a day later I found the leg in an empty box in the garage. I would not recommend them to anyone.”

They cancelled on me less than 12 hours before the move was scheduled without any logically sound basis for the cancellation. The man on the phone, who claimed to be the owner, stated that they did in fact have trucks available but refused to use them because they were not as fuel efficient as the trucks that they preferred to use on longer distance moves. He justified the last minute cancellation by repeatedly stating that "people make mistakes." Adding insult to injury, he stated multiple times that I would be refunded my security deposit, however, what they ACTUALLY did was CHARGE ME TWICE! I now have to dispute the charges and have gone to the Better Business Bureau (N.B. the Akron BBB lists Family First Moving as having 10 unresolved complaints at this time). We ended up using "Move It Now" to do the move for the same price, and they were fantastic. The "morals" and "values" that Family First Moving proclaims on their website are NOT reflected in their practices. AVOID FAMILY FIRST MOVING LIKE THE PLAGUE!”

We were scheduled to begin at 8am. After going until roughly 1pm and still at the old house, the movers stated that another crew couldn't handle what they were moving and they had to go help them. So, they left our old house with an entire truck full of our stuff to go help the other crew, and we didn't see them for another 3 hours! After that, they sent the truck to the new house to unload and then sent the other crew to our house with an empty truck. We had no idea on the time frame for this, so my wife and I had to split up between houses and sit at each one until they showed up. The manager acted as if he was doing us a favor by not charging us for the time they were not helping us (no kidding), but then proceeded to charge us for the extra 2 guys they sent to try to make up time. By 5:45 we had somewhere to be and could not stay while these guys were still going and had to have my mother in law come over to take over. When it was all said and done this took 12hrs to move out of a 2000 sq ft house. The guys were friendly enough, but the management is downright awful and has zero respect for the customers.”

They showed up three hours late, which resulted in them having to come back on Saturday (charged us Saturday hours for workers), they destroyed some our best furniture and then denied the insurance claim. I wonder if they're even insured! It's a disgrace that they use Christian symbols and pictures of U.S. Marines on their trucks for advertising! Would never recommend them!”

The Team that helped my mom move, was not only professional, but efficient and made this the best experience. Needless to say I have contracted with another mover. Avoid Family First movers at all cost. I worked as a crew leader and schedule manager for this company the past two summers. I was not paid to say this, but the abysmal reviews on here inspired me to do so, as this company has been so kind to me. The only time I've seen the company act poorly is through the management of Leo or John (who some of these comments are against) and they are currently both fired with the company being under new management. This company does not accept any kind of poor customer treatment and are fast to fire those responsible. My crews have personally never committed any damage and the only time jobs have ran over the estimate is if the customer adds things last minute or forgets to mention something about their house that makes it harder to access. I've seen nothing but hardwork and respect from the front lines to the highest management and it's been a pleasure working for them through my college years.”

The crew was friendly and kind but very inefficient. The truck arrived late. They carried each box by hand, as opposed to every other mover I’ve had who put two or three on a dolly. When I was moved into the home we left, the moving truck put a ramp from the truck to the porch, saving time by eliminating the steps. We offered this suggestion and they didn’t seem interested in working smarter which ended up costing us the time they weren’t saving. Even though we moved less than what we accounted for on our estimate, they weren’t able to fit it all in the truck leaving us to move the rest. I appreciate their hard work and honesty (they surveyed and reviewed damages-all small scratches and dents which are to be expected) but am disappointed things didn’t go smoother.”

So atleast that will be done. They were arguing with me over every box. So then they left some of my havy stuff there instead of talking it to storage. Now I have to pay my old landlord to remove it from there on top of what I alteady paid 2 those so called movers. Okay, I’m gonna keep it real. Family first is messy and unorganized. I moved down to Akron and worked here for about 2 months. Most of the workers are chill and the pay was good. Jamie the owner, is really what makes the company TERRIBLE. He is an alcoholic and most of the time is drunk when on the phone with customers. He still owes me a check from the last couple weeks I worked for him. If you’re an African American like myself, GOOD LUCK. He will tell you that the truck will leave at 9:00am sharp and that the truck(s) will be there no later than 9:30am (or however long it takes to get to the destination), and there were multiple times where we didn’t leave until 9:30/9:45 and it costed customers a lot of extra money because of this. He doesn’t take care of his trucks, one time we had to drive all the way back to the shop in the moving truck with no headlights or good brakes from Mantua, and another time, one broke down on the way to a customers home. He pays his workers by leaving checks in either the mailbox at the shop or he has them pick them up in his old convertible at his residence. There were also many times where I’ve heard Jamie cuss out customers over the phone while drunk when they try too tell him the issues they’ve had throughout their moving day. Some of the movers are either too old or just lazy or inexperienced. Sometimes there’s damage done to items/houses because movers are not careful. If you try to tell Jamie that you are unhappy about anything as a customer OR employee, he will disrespect you, cuss you out and tell you that you’re wrong, which is HORRIBLE customer service. I can literally start a moving company tomorrow and it would go a hell of a lot better than whatever is going on at family first moving, or should I call it “Jamie First Moving”. I wish I could post the screenshot of our text messages so everyone can see how terrible this company is. If you are looking for a quality moving company who actually cares about you and your personal items, DONT go to family first. I’m currently in the process of suing the company for the money I am owed. You’re better of renting a Uhaul and grabbing 4 guys off of craigslist.”
