I wanted to move myself to save some money, but given we had a fridge and a king size bed, I decided to hire a moving company. I moved from San Gabriel to West Covina. I had a four bedroom house and lots of furniture. I did most of the packing myself, but Elite Moving and Storage carefully wrapped and protected my bed, dining table and television. My move was scheduled for 8:00 am and they came on time and ready. Avi was the foreman and he did a great job. The movers worked efficiently and pretty fast. My move took about 7 hours including the drive time. They did inform me that drive time would be doubled in the hourly rate. They didn’t charge me for fuel. I am happy with my move!! Can’t complain!”

I booked Elite Moving after finding them on Google and having a very pleasant experience with Donna on the phone. Their price quote was reasonable too. I didnt check their Yelp (because honestly I hate Yelp because of how unfairly Yelp removes good reviews and extorts small businesses, but anyways...) so I kind of freaked out when I read some negative reviews about them here but decided to still give them a try. Firstly I would like to say that the people leaving negative reviews must have just been unprepared for their moves. My experience with them was AWESOME. They were on time, totally efficient, extremely friendly and so helpful and pleasant! Also they were totally careful to treat everything carefully, including the floors and doorways! I was shoving waaaaay too much crap into way too small of an apartment for waaaay too many years, and they just breezed through the job with total professionalism (and they even had to deal with gates and stairs and narrow hallways and all kinds of annoying obstacles). There were a few extra charges I wasnt fully expecting, but they were for things I honestly should have already done my damn self, but because Mario and his team were so fast and efficient, the total cost still came in right at about what I had budgeted for, so no problem at all. So in a nutshell, if you do your part and properly prepare for your move (like pack your own stuff, tape your dang boxes, and be just be ready and not lazy) it will help your movers do their job. Its a hard job, remember, be thankful you arent doing the heavy lifting (literally!). These guys made our move totally stress free and we cant thank them enough!”

I hired Elite Moving in January for a move. While they seemed like a very easy to work with company and seemed reasonably priced, beware if something goes wrong. First, during the move, the one mover who seemed to be in charge, basically extorted about a $400 tip for himself and the other movers. He said if "i took care of them", he wouldn’t charge me all of these hidden fees and then named his price. Since I was concerned if I didn’t pay him what he wanted they would "drop" or "lose" my stuff. Also when I asked about insurance, he basically said nothing ever happens so I’ll be fine. In the stress of moving and as he rushed me through signing all of the paperwork, I didn’t take the time (and should have) read the fine print. When the movers arrived at my new location, the mover said when they picked up my glass entertainment stand, one of the shelves was shattered (picture attached), which made the entire thing worthless. When I contacted Elite about the damage, I was told they don’t handle claims and I had to go through a 3rd party (CSI Pros). That process was not easy and clearly designed to cause claimants to drop the claim since it is so tedious and frustrating. Even though it was not disputed that Elite was at fault, it took three months to get an offer of approx. $65 for a shattered glass piece of furniture (valued at approx $500) that I had to replace and hire someone to assemble at a cost of approx. $300. As it is designed to have you do, I gave up fighting and agreed to this settlement. Then it took another few weeks to get the check. I definitely do not recommend them.”

The ladies answering the phones are very sweet. Other than that, I had a TERRIBLE experience with Elite Moving---the foreman actually doubled the price and threatened damage to items if I refused to pay for extra rolls of tape and plastic wrap. It was a classic scenario where the Elite foreman saw a single mom and kid and thought he could get away with taking advantage of me. The foreman even tried to manipulate me by pointing to all the boxes and moving ahead of me and said, Look at all you have to do, can you really cancel now? It was awful. I felt trapped. I felt threatened. But thank God the next dat I was able to book West Coast Movers who sent the nicest and most polite crew of 3. They were just as cheap but they were incredibly conscientious and sensitive to the items needing care. There were no made up packing costs. There was no need to charge hundreds of extra dollars to a roll of tape or plastic. There were 5 wardrobe boxes that I used without extra cost. People like the mover from Elite should be ashamed of themselves. If there is a discrepancy in cost, they need to learn how to handle it in a business-like manner, not make someone feel like they were in a disgusting and desperate situation that I’ll never forget.”

The communication with this company was a nightmare. First the check off list that they send you seems very simple and easy. It’s not until the movers come when you find out that your furniture is considered oversized and now what you thought you were paying is actually 4x more! According to the movers how the software determines sizes of the furniture is different from the excel check list that is sent. For example even though it says overstuffed sofa you will still be up charged bc its oversized (whatever that means) this went on and on with other furniture pieces. I wouldn’t use this company again simply bc the communication with them was terrible and when you are trusting people to facilitate your move you want to that communication to be clear. Find another moving company that’s going to give you the correct pricing so you are not shocked at the end!”

Both I and my wife were moving because we again, had to change jobs and locations. We really didn’t know where to go and then one of my co-workers recommended Elite Moving and Storage. I gave them a call and immediately felt comfortable having a very pleasant experience talking to the woman who was on the phone with us. We negotiated a very fair price quote and it was very reasonable - it was actually lower than what we paid a few years earlier with another mover. I got a little concerned about that actually but I’m here now to say my experience with them was awesome. Real professional and very customer friendly. When moving day came for us - they were on time - actually waiting for us. The movers were efficient, friendly and helpful. My wife and I also had some family heirlooms which we were very worried about. They were totally careful to treat everything including the family valuables carefully. We really didn’t have a lot of things - its a moderate sized townhome – but they did a fantastic job and are pro’s. They helped take apart the beds and other furniture and managed to take our HUGE sofa which I never thought anyone could, down the flight of stairs to their vehicle. We had already taped our own boxes and prepared for the move. But yes, like any other moving company there are always unexpected things but I was glad to pay for everything I expected to pay. The total cost was very reasonable and most of all - I didn’t have to do anything myself!!!! Elite Moving and Storage made everything effortless on our part and both I and my wife could instead focus ourselves on our new jobs instead of the hassles of moving everything. Boxes were thrown into moving van and one of the most prized possessions was damaged. 2. 10 BOXES WERE OPENED WHEN BOXES ARRIVED and they helped themselves mightily with items that belonged to my mother. I am heartbroken. 10 BOXES! Was this while all my items were in storage at their facility by one of their employees or was it stolen by the driver that Elite hired (Menashe Kohanim - Trade Name Black Ice Transportation, N. They accommodated our last minute move so we are very thankful. We moved my friend into a four bedroom house and it took a lot of time and heavy lifting. That’s something that two people can’t do alone, let alone having only small cars to transport big items was out of the question. They carried my friend’s belongings down the stairs of our house without scratching any of the walls or floors. And was very cautious in every corner of the previous house. Choose a different company if you want your things to get to your new place unbroken and in good condition, and if you want good customer service. After paying a hefty price for "expert packing" - when we opened the boxes that were packed, the packing was done very poorly, and a lot of our things, including irreplaceable heirlooms, were damaged (see the pictures posted). A lot of larger items clearly weren’t cared for while being moved, and showed signs of damage not present before Elite Moving & Storage had the items in transit. Here’s a bit of marketing copy from their website, which after using their service, I can tell you is just not true: "We make the commitment to handle all of your most valuable and fragile items with utmost care. That’s why at Elite, we are also experts in packing and crating. It doesn’t matter what the size or material of item you may have, we have every bit of equipment, material, and know-how to get it to it’s final destination without a single blemish." OK, so we moved a lot of stuff - if we’re reasonable perhaps we can accept a few things might get damaged, even if their marketing promises otherwise. Well when we tried to follow up with them to rectify the situation via a reasonable refund as compensation for their failure, they stopped responding to us.”

I called to ask for an update 30 minutes before the end of my "arrival time" window....no response.
