We used the same team of Peter Allen, Jay and Nick for packing up our house and moving us into our condo a few days later. At the risk of sounding 'corny' these guys saved the day. Any issues we had they accepted it as a challenge and NOT a problem for them! We had a VERY frustrating, and time consuming closing of our house and the crew waited for us while we obtained the keys to our new place. Once we received the key they jumped into action - we had a time limit of no moving after 6pm from the condo association, luckily the Dunmar crew of Peter, Jay and Nick had all but one piece of furniture moved in within 2 hours! The last piece, an extra-long couch fought with the crew; they persevered and they were able to get it through the doorway and into our living room, and that was after they took it up several flights of stairs!! Thank you to Donna Trevey also for my last minute items I forgot - I have already recommended your company to others..”

Horrible communication and service from their rep Shawn Pinion. Always late and never answered texts in a timely manner. Lots of excuses. Haley, their move coordinator, picked up the slack and did her best under the circumstances. They require a deposit for your move. We fired them and have hired another company. We’re moving cross country and the stressful situation prior to our move convinced us they were incompetent. I would not recommend them”

Would not recommend. Emily our rep was great. Very responsive. They two guys that showed up to pack were just awful. One was so careless, literally throwing our stuff around. Broke several things. He was in such a hurry. I had to literally ask him to leave. No respect for the customer's belongings. If the loaders show up tomorrow with the same kind of attitude I will need to ask for a refund. Well the loaders and truck showed up the next day. Our troubles didn't end with the packers. The loaders basically shoved everything on the truck with no regards to keeping our things from getting damaged. Upon delivery we had a number of items damaged. My wife's Kitchen Aid mixer was damaged beyond repair. Damage to multiple pieces of furniture. We had storage containers that were basically smashed (along with their contents). One of our mattresses, would should of been packed in a mattress box, was literally bent out of shape. I would reiterate my earlier statement, I would NEVER, EVER recommend. If you have a choice use someone else for your move!!!!!!!!!”

Destroyed a $12,000 Stickley solid mahogany dining room table in April 2019 in Short Pump, Va. Their insurer covered less than half of the damage after deductible and we have a worthless table. Moving crew ran out of the room and did not tell us about the damage. You can see their spit marks in pics where they tried to rub out the deep gouges and long 2 foot scratch. Pre-move we stressed the value of this handmade mahogany dining table. Bought this back in 1992 when we were married and it was in mint condition. Dunmar trashed it in less than one day after our 27 years of ownership. Donna Trevy, our Dunmar Move Consultant, identified the table on the pre-move Estimate & Order for Service as "A very special piece of furniture. White glove". We even had custom made protective 1 inch thick table pad on top of table and movers took it off prior to packing table and just put those pads on the moving truck separate from table. Insane !!”

We had a wonderful experience with Dunmar / Allied moving company. Donna came to our home to inventory the items that would be moved, and was the friendliest and most reasonable person ever. From start to finish Donna worked with us on all of our inventory changes, date changes, and even a location change. She was the best. Everyone should have a Donna to work with! Our moving coordinator, Amy, was super friendly too, and was always available to answer questions and provide info. On the day of the move our crew was friendly, worked diligently and carefully. Our items were delivered when promised, an our delivery team was just as good as the pick up team. Dunmar isn't the cheapest moving company, but they aren't the most expensive either. The steps that they take to ensure proper set up, packing and delivery are all worth the expense. I would recommend Dunmar to anyone with a corporate move.”

CAUTION!! There were many, many bumps in the process as the house was loaded but I hoped it would all smooth out. Every box we open is more upsetting. Clothes on hangers were waded up in the bottoms of boxes and used as packing, then shoes piled on top. Items that should have been wrapped in paper were thrown into boxes and are now damaged. Without my knowledge boxes must have been reused from another job as writing on boxes is different on other sides of the box. Box marked master bedroom is opened to find garage tools. I look on another side of the box and it says garage. As we moved across states a different crew unloaded the boxes. With the mixed markings we are finding boxes in the wrong places. This has resulted in a tremendous amount of extra work for us. The damage list is growing daily. Too late for me to get out of this disaster but want to warn others.”

Allied is as much or more to blame for this as Dunmar. And unforseen events do happen. But bottom line, they sold me something they did not provide and my belongings suffered as a result.I agreed to go with Allied/Dunmar only because they promised me my stuff would be picked up and loaded onto the same truck that would make the trip and delivery to my new address. I wanted that because most loss/damage occurs during the intermediated transfers to storage and other trucks. Sure enough, they loaded my stuff onto an smaller truck and into storage multiple times. And in so doing mishandled so severely that they ruptured a solid suitcase, destroying the securely packed family heirlooms inside. Then, despite the contractual language specifying that items I packed would only be covered for damage if what they were packed in showed obvious signs of mishandling, they agreed to only pay for the suitcase, not the items inside. Also, the driver tried to conceal that damage from me. And so now they are claiming that because what they destroyed was not in a cardboard box but instead in a hardcase (that offers far superior protection than cardboard and is far harder to destroy than cardboard) it is not legally a "carton" and therefore they can use that excuse to avoid taking responsibility for the severe mishandling that destroyed my antiques. I guess taking responsibility for yourself is not part of the dunmar business model.”

Sorry but our experience was absolutely horrible and would never recommend this company to anyone. (Had to use them as it was booked/ paid for by my employer.) Felt my coordinator was a poor communicator from the start and when I said we could move literally any time, she should have been more clear that it could take 2-4 weeks for our belongings to arrive! The packers were probably the biggest problem- with a complete disregard/ disrespect to our belongings so it was no surprise that almost every large piece of furniture was damaged/ cracked/ scratched, my china shattered, mirrors broken etc. Packers, loaders, & unloaders all different teams- who all complained about the other- and unloaders had trouble putting things together since wasn't packed together/ labeled correctly. They just started leaving boxes in garage (that were clearly labeled kitchen, master closet etc)...so ultimately ended with more work, headache, cleanup than if we had done it all ourselves. You can use TWO MEN AND A TRUCK and receive much better service and care for significantly cheaper! I have moved over 5 times in 10 yrs and did not even know movers could be this horrible!”
