I set up rental of a storage space at CubeSmart from across the country, and their response time and willingness to answer all of my stupid questions was amazing. CubeSmart is unique in that they accept mail for you from all the major carriers, and help place all of it in your storage unit. Nobody else I contacted would do this in any kind of consistent manner. Usually very clean and air conditioned. Easy access by truck via their loading dock. 5 star service. Highly recommended. Just moved in here last weekend from the disaster of a storage place right next to Fairway Market (you know the one I mean). Not only is CubeSmart cleaner than PSS, but having to use your code to have elevators stop on 2 or 3 makes it pretty hard for a random person to get up to the upper floors. I like that the doors open completely flat, you get to use every square inch of your unit unlike places with a roll up door which eats into headroom. I also like that you don't have to buy THEIR lock.”

Honestly, I don't review very often (bad or good), but CubeSmart in Clifton has earned more than 5 stars in my book. My fiancé and I arrived there to get a space for our Jeep's hardtop to store for the warmer months. Floyd, the General Manager, welcomed us right away and showed us our options (we've never rented a storage space before, so his approach was more than welcomed and needed). What a friendly dude! Floyd and the other Manager, Valerie, even helped us carry the HEAVY hardtop to the space on the third floor, making sure we were ok and our item was safely inside. After that, we signed the electronic "paperwork" quickly over an ice cold bottle of water and left satisfied. Honestly, Floyd and Valerie went ABOVE AND BEYOND our expectations and I wouldn't think twice about recommending CubeSmart in Clifton to anyone. Thank you guys for making our experience an incredible one. Convenient, safe, clean location, overly accommodating staff and competitive pricing...what more could you want?”

Have been a customer for 4 years and was late once (during COVID) due to my credit card number changing. It wasn't a lot of money, but I did ask him to waive the late fee as a gesture of appreciation for being a long term customer. 'He could not do that' because the transaction had already been processed. So I asked for a credit toward the following month rent and he refused. I felt I was being spoken to like an idiot, which I didn't appreciate. Since I'm posting I'll share my thoughts as a 4 year tenant: - it's centrally located, which is nice if you live in uptown - the unit has been fine - nothing special, what you would expect for storage. It has served its purpose well. It's an unfinished warehouse - not like other rental facilities I've used. Maybe dingier / dirtier - Other comments about rent increases occurring frequently are consistent with my experience. They either raise it or try to raise it every 6 months. - The 'manual' elevator is annoying. You have to walk up the steps and find it/ bring it back down to the first floor if someone else has used it to access the second of third floor. They really need to upgrade it - The stairway always smells like pee - Have had a couple of sketchy experiences after dark over the years, only one where I felt unsafe. Otherwise no issues I wouldn't say don't rent here, but I would recommend you understand the frequency of rent increases and have them write into the contract how often they are able to raise rent, and by how much. Also shop it around - there's plenty of other places and I'm guessing the exodus from Hoboken will result in more competition.”
