I'm 6 months pregnant and unable to move anything heavy, so I hired City Hound Professional Movers to help move furniture within my house (pub table from dining room to basement, old sectional from living room to outdoor deck area, a dresser from one bedroom to the bedroom next to it and a sectional from the master bedroom to the living room). No vehicle necessary. I appreciate that they answered the phone right away and were able to squeeze me in the same day. I was told they would be there at 5pm, which is the time that I would be back home. I received a phone call from the owner at 3:38pm letting me know that his 2 guys would be there in about 30 mins. That is way before 5pm. I let him know that I was out, but would do my best to get home earlier. His movers called me 2x at 4:11pm, then texted me a photo of my front door to let me know they were there (I found that odd). I kindly reminded them that we agreed for 5pm and that I would be there as soon as I can. I arrived home at 4:37pm and they began moving my items right away. They finished moving all of my things at 5:15pm. Even though they were here for less than an hour, they have a 2 hour min (which I knew about) and was charged $155 total. The odd thing is that I found them on craiglist and their ad states it's 65/hour for a 2 man team, so I should've only been charged $130 total. I didn't appreciate the dishonesty, but ultimately just wanted my furniture moved to accommodate new furniture that's being delivered the very next day. If I wasn't in such a time crunch, I would've called around to get estimates from other movers.”

Do NOT use them. Spend the extra dime upfront to get other movers. It will be worth it in the end. They were unreliable and late which caused a domino effect of disasters for us. We would have been better off doing everything ourselves. I'm still waiting for my broken item to be replaced which they tried to say wasn't their fault because it happened on the drive over and not while they were moving the item. Smh. Don't do it to yourselves! I wish AL'S movers in DC was still open. They were quick, professional and affordable. If they ever reopen, I highly suggest you use them!”

I hired City Hound movers last month to move from Fairfax to Reston. The booking process was smooth and Andrew (owner) gave me an overall estimate for the job which was quite helpful! The price of the truck was included in the overall quote. We got the afternoon slot on a Saturday. I was a bit concerned since the two gentlemen who were assigned to help us move had to work on another job in the morning before coming to our place. However, Andrew assured full commitment without compromise on quality of service. The movers arrived at the Fairfax location about 45 mins late due to the delay in wrapping up the morning job. However, both Andrew and the movers kept us informed about the delay and showed up at 3 pm as per the ETA provided. The two gentlemen, Brian and Juan, were profession, courteous and cautious during the entire moving process. They literally climbed up and down the stairs (3rd floor!) for 3 hrs non-stop. There was no slack time whatsoever. We were amazed to witness the energy, dedication and hard work these guys put it. Brian was really good with self motivating himself and Juan with his profound sense of humor during the physically strenuous job. In total it took about 6 hours for them to complete our move, including transportation/travel to Reston. After the move was completed, Andrew called me and mentioned the amount I owed. I was pretty impressed by his honestly with respect to the overall time spent. Special shoutout to Brian and Juan for the hard work. Brian kept humming the superman theme song while lifting those heavy boxes down the stairs. I guess that was the secret to his uninterrupted energy supply! 🙂 Good experience overall. I would definitely recommend them for their dedication, quality of service and honesty.”

The team lead, Mario, showed up a little early and we walked through all the things that needed to be shifted. Moving sucks. Like, really sucks. But working with City Hound Movers made it suck a little less. Three of the four men sent worked extremely hard, and made up for the young guy that did not a lot. They were running 15min late and sent me a text message letting me know. They worked from 9:15am to 6:30pm in the HOT, HOT July sun. Two guys carried our king sized latex mattress (read: floppy like 10 dead bodies) down a flight of stairs and back up another. I have zero complaints working with this company. No weird stair fees, transport fees (except for the one flat rate truck fee that I knew about), second trip/load fees, nothing. Their prices were actually the CHEAPEST I came across, and the service was top notch.”

By far my worst experience with a company such as this to date, and I have moved very many times, globally. I hired them for both the packing and moving phases of a move, but had to fire them after they completely botched the packing phase. Their packers' gross negligence resulted in damage to my property. When I called this to their attention, both the packer they sent to remediate AND the so-called "owner" denied everything. I discovered much more damage later, but they were so childish and unprofessional, I just ate the loss.”
