The crew arrived during the time frame specified and once they arrived, they quickly began loading up items, making sure to securely cover all my furniture items and stack everything properly. I hadn't packed my coats and jackets and the guys neatly hung them all up in their wardrobe box. I wasn't even expecting that and really appreciated it. I recently bought my first home and they made sure to carefully move the items into my new place. Amazing team! These movers were great, Abdul, Antwann, and JaQuan moved my one bedroom apartment a pretty short distance in DC and I can't say enough how awesome they were. Very nice, professional, and careful with my furniture and all my belongings. They did everything in a timely manner, and there was even about a 30 minute period we couldn't access the loading dock at my new place and they stopped the clock and didn't charge me for that which I really appreciated. I highly recommend Bookstore Movers as I have LOTS of friends who have had horror stories with DMV area movers, and these guys could not have been better and easier to work with as well as a very fair price. Moving is rarely a pleasant experience and Bookstore Movers came as close as they could to making it one. They left us impressed and feeling like they were worth every penny and then some! Customer Service: They were responsive and provided a quote almost immediately. Contact information was provided in advance so that we could be updated on when they would arrive. The moving team was friendly, attentive, and accommodating. Movers: They came with the truck, tools, and a team that worked hard from start-to-finish. A team of 4 moved my wife and I out of our condo (imagine 60+ boxes, 6 suitcases packed with clothes, and furniture) and into our home in 3 hours. We used movers for the first time and Oh MY GOD this was the best money spent ever! The guys contacted us ahead of time on the day of the move, moved from the old apartment within an HOUR! The destination apartment had two flights of stairs and difficult corners. Despite of that the guys were just amazing moving everything and making sure they were placing stuff where we needed it. THEN came the couch that turned out to be too long for the front entrance ..... so they went behind the place (located on the second level!), LIFTED the couch to our BALCONY (!!!!) and got it in through the balcony door. They provided me a quote promptly and replied to emails within the same day or next day. They easily accommodated any changes or rescheduling. Our movers, Nick and Donnell, were so wonderful. They arrived on time and worked so efficiently. I was amazed at how quickly they wrapped the bigger items and loaded up our boxes. We were moved out of our old apartment and moved into the new house in under 3 hours! It seriously would've taken us all day and multiple trips back and forth had we done it ourselves. Know that they charge an hourly rate with a 3 hour minimum in addition to a travel fee- ours was $75 for travel from North Bethesda/Rockville to NE DC. Bookstore Movers doesn't need another 5-star review but considering I just completed my third move with them and I've never been less than satisfied with the result I owe them one. My most recent move was the most complex, with a stop at a storage unit as well. My movers, Al, Na and David, showed up promptly at 8:02 and completed the job by 10:40 at stop number three. This was well under the time estimate the office had provided and even though they have to charge for their three-hour minimum, the money felt very well-spent. They were efficient, friendly, and impressively capable at maneuvering a lot of fragile furniture in and out of very different houses. I should also add that of the movers I contacted for estimates, Bookstore had the lowest rates, asked the most detailed questions about my move, and sent a really detailed email pre-move with contact information for my movers to make sure everything would be all set for the big day. I hope I don't move again for a while but when I do I know it will be with Bookstore Movers.”

Arriving within the first fifteen minutes of my estimated window, the team packed up, wrapped, and moved out my belongings from the first location--700 square foot, one-bedroom apartment--in an hour flat. They were accommodating with the second location's lack of a loading dock and janky communication around use of the freight elevator, getting my stuff into the new place also in one hour. Throughout the move, they took great care of protecting my stuff and asking necessary questions, never assuming anything. Communication before the move was frequent and useful, and the Bookstore Movers website has a great FAQ that addresses most any questions you may have. I waffled back and fourth between 4 and 5 stars for two reasons: 4-star moving service and 5-star customer service. My move was on very short notice, and Bookstore was excellent about communicating with me about my needs and the available time slots. I also found the quote to be very comparable and reasonable with some of the other movers I contacted. On the day of the move a few things happened - they sent an extra man at no extra charge and the move took much longer than expected because the crew encountered some issues with their truck. This meant that they had to unload a full truck into a second truck and then send it on its way. The move took about 3 extra hours but the crew was very apologetic and I was not overcharged for the extra time. There was significant damage to one of my items and small damage to a few other things. I'm discovering small cracks and breaks as I unpack and unload. This tells me that my movers weren't as careful as they could have been and that my items suffered from the extra load/unload. After reaching out to Bookstore concerning the serious damage, the team and Jason, the manager, were amazing about communicating with me and also making the situation better. He was fast about responding to my emails and also was very apologetic and ready to take responsibility. Excellent customer service can be hard to find and Bookstore definitely has it in spades. All in all, I would certainly recommend Bookstore and will likely use them again in the future. I did expect more, but I know that damage can happen during any move, even with the best.”

They had some trouble disassembling our couch and getting it out, eventually taking a side off but struggling in doing so. Updating my previous review. It's still all accurate, but I wanted to thank Bookstore Movers leaders for an incredible response. They obviously couldn't change what happened, but did compensate me for the items lost and time cleaning up after the crew. They were very responsive and I think deserves another star just due to the care they took in responding to my experience. Thanks Andy! Once they were done packing and left for the new place, they told me they weren't moving all the loose items bookstore packers didn't pack. I had to pack them all up in my own vehicle (took a completely stuffed Jeep to do it). In my new place, they did not use any kind of floor or shoe covers and traipsed all over the new carpets with wet and dirty shoes. Most moving companies at least use foot covers, and others have used floor covering. One of the movers asked me to use the bathroom. I allowed it. I didn't find this out until after the move, but I went into the bathroom and found the whole wall and toilet dirty with nasty yellow gunk. Hard to see in pictures, but there's a nasty light yellow liquid with orange chunks in the cracks of the toilet, and the hand towel was disgusting and thrown out. I can only assume that someone threw up or peed all over the place, used my hand towel to clean it up, then threw it out. Let's reflect on how ridiculous that is. Who among you would make a mess in someone's bathroom, then THROW OUT THE TOWEL. What the hell? Of course no one fessed up to it or told me anything. That was a little easter egg I got to find on my own. Last but not least, one box was not delivered. I have a whirly pop (large kitchen item; not easy to miss) and hand beater attachments missing. I have unpacked the whole house, all boxes are gone, and I have the hand beater, no attachments, and no whirly pop. No, I did not leave it at the old house. I looked through it twice on separate occasions, had professional cleaners do a deep clean, and looked through it with the landlord. Wasn't at the house; not at my new house either. They dinged up some of my daughters furniture, but I'll give them a pass on that (even though they are big gouges in her crib; not happy about it but compared to the rest of what happened, how can I complain). This company is the worst. Customer service rep said it was more than two weeks and there was nothing they could do. Did not seem to care that their crew messed up and created a small amount of havoc in my new home. Not sure how they expect you to know/unpack everything in less than two weeks to let them know if something was missed, especially when I was moving to a 2200 sq. ft. home. I guess it's easy to miss an entire box of items (NOT). I hope everyone reads this and starts to use other companies. Bookstore is not worth it. Try your luck elsewhere. There may be some good crews, but if you get the B team, they really suck.”

They arrived early, moved my things quickly and carefully, and the final cost was exactly what was quoted. Three people handled the move with professionalism and genuine care. They communicated clearly asking where I wanted things placed and made sure they were setup to my liking. This was my second move in less than a year, and I honestly wish I had gone with both moves. With the first move with another firm, I was quoted a lower amount only to be overcharged in the end because of slow and distracted movers. I have to admit that at first I had my doubts.. I mean I'd actually never heard of Bookstore Movers, but I'm a fan now!! First off, Howard and his team were professional and quick. They packaged and moved my stuff with surgical precision, and when I asked if they could help me take down my window treatments, Howard and his team didn't hesitate. Bookstore Movers quoted me price of $120/hr with a two hour minimum and a$60 travel fee, so basically, between $300-420 to move a bedroom, living room, and small dinning room. As I said before, I had my doubts, but they were right on the money and manage to to the entire move in just two hours. Moving is a hassle. You have to put all your stuff in boxes, somehow get it to your new place and make sure your furniture stays in tact. All the while you're either doing it yourself or trusting a moving company to move your precious couches, TV and other stuff that you've accumulated and haven't Marie Kondo'd from your life. Enter Bookstore Movers. From step one they made the move easier to handle. Communication was incredibly detailed and responsive, and each request was handled with respect and care. Their quote came in on the higher side (it was around $700 for four hours), but my roommate and I had two beds, two couches, a TV and all that stuff that we couldn't part with. Bookstore even gave us an extra mover the day of the move, which was incredibly nice of them. The movers called me about 30 minutes before arriving and it was smooth sailing from there. Each of the movers was kind, courteous and professional. They took mostly everything that we asked, took apart one of the bed frames and desks and then rebuilt them in the new apartment. They took the most stressful part of moving and turned it into the biggest non-issue and no-brainier. I really appreciated the movers' energy from beginning to end, and no task was too big or too small. I wholeheartedly recommend Bookstore Movers and suggest that you use them for your next move. You (literally) have nothing to lose since they're licensed and insured. While pricey, all of our stuff made it in one piece, and it saved me and my roommate half a day and a lot of hassle moving our stuff. As a bonus, we were moving ten minutes away, and they did not charge for mileage, a huge added benefit over the other quotes I received. Also, there were no hidden fees at the end. As promised, updating my review. They were just as awesome the second time as they were the first. The Move The movers arrived right on time and were great to keep in touch via text about when they were arriving at my place. All my stuff arrived and nothing was broken. I appreciated that they wrapped my furniture so that it was protected during the move and in storage, and then they took all the wrapping off for me and threw it away themselves, so they didn't leave any kind of a mess at my place. The Movers The movers were really nice, definitely worked well as a team and quick yet thorough. As with the first time, they added a third mover at the last minute, and were really nice to let me work with the same movers as my first move as I had requested. Timing The second move from my storage unit in Bethesda to DC proper was also easy and they kept it within the 3 hours planned, so no extra fees. Pricing and Payment The price was exactly as quoted - and they gave me a small discount for reviewing them and also using them twice in the same month. No hidden fees. They take credit card (both for the moving fees and tip), although I tipped in cash just in case. One small piece of advice to look out for - the mover who placed my boxes in my apartment wasn't paying attention to their weight or "Fragile" signs. I noticed some heavy boxes were on top of the light and fragile boxes. Thankfully, I noticed it quickly after the movers left and rearranged everything to avoid anything breaking. I wasn't really paying attention to this while they were bringing in all my boxes, so just keep an eye out if there's anything fragile. However, unlike other movers I've worked with, they didn't throw any boxes, so I think that's why my stuff was totally fine. Final Verdict Hands down the best moving experience I've had, and I move a lot. They were friendly, quick, thorough, nothing was broken, and they helped wrap and unwrap my furniture to keep it safe.”

When a friend said - look up bookstore movers, they're the best - I hopped on yelp and saw all the 5 star reviews. I went ahead and requested a quote and they were actually in my price range! Then the pandemic hit, and anxiety set in about if this move was going to even happen. Bookstore movers communicated their internal plans, procedures and guidelines very clearly. A team of 4 showed up and moved my 2 bedroom apartment into my house within 3.5 hours (exactly what was quoted). These guys were really nice, funny and we had great conversations.
