I recently moved back to TX to be closer to my parents, I had 2 bedroom apt in Anaheim fully furnished, been thinking a lot if I should do it myself and sell everything, then I got a call from BLACK BEAR and they price they quoted me was very comfortable and reasonable, not much more then to rent a uhale + all the expenses, make sure to find a hotel and all that headache. I decided it was worth the extra bucks since I did it myself last time and it really wasn’t easy at all. On the move date with BB I got a call from the driver, he asked me when it will be a good time for me to start the move, I told him around 8.30am. They showed up at 9 sharp and finished everything with less than 2 hours. They were professional and quick and made sure to load everything in the best way possible to even save me some money. My items arrived safe and sound in Austin 6 days after pickup which was ok, I got to spend some time with my folks. On delivery it was different team but the same great service, they reassembled everything on the actual rooms and they’ve been very polite and nice. The price was worth to do this all over again, I wouldn’t change this experience for the world. Thank! Definitely recommend!”

I booked this company thinking I would get my discount that I was informed of getting but they did not hold it through when putting information and getting your quote. Even when the sales representative is the one getting the information and taking their time to prepaid your inventory data quote after you give the information. Customer service did not help at all when I asked what the discount I received did not change for when the final amount happened the day of the move. The movers that came to pick up everything was very friendly but that was the only good thing about this. I would not recommend this company at all because after everything is done they will jump up the final amount more than what you would want. I highly recommend a different moving company because I guarantee you will not have a good experience with them. I booked for 400 cf when after they got everything it was 495 cf, they charge over a whole grand for the 95 cp extra. They even wanted to silence me from going to any legal enforcement or anyone else about this problem and asked me to sign the document saying I wouldn't speak about it anymore before I'm able to get the better price compared to the amount they asked for but still less than the discount I originally signed up for. Hate this company completely and I hope they get shut down so no one else can be scammed from their outrageous prices you don't find out about until after they pack everything. Complete bullshit.”

Sean and his team were late but apologized because they had to pack up the household before us and were not notified. However, Sean called and said he would be over in 40 minutes. They arrived in the 40 minutes he promised, marked and wrapped up our furniture professionally and loaded up the truck quickly. It turned out to cost a bit more because the furniture took up more space. Let's see if they get it to Ohio as scheduled. My experience has been a joke with this company. Talked to their sales rep Quinn and got an estimate for $2250.00 for a cross country move. My list of items stayed pretty accurate throughout the process. I estimated my total to be around $3500 at the end of the day. Moving day comes and the driver gives me another quote of $9500. I laughed then complained. Driver gives me his best price of $8800. I'm pissed so I call the company and talk to Alex. He gives me his best price of $6800. How many prices are you going to give me? How many times are you trying to price gauge people? I cancelled and said they lost my business. Alex said he will refund my $95 deposit tmrw...but reading other reviews stating how they will lie and not refund makes me believe I need to call my credit card company instead of waiting for them to refund. Stay away. Buyer be aware. Wasted my time!”

Awful experience with this company. Poor communication, bait and switch schemes like doubling our estimate on move day, broken furniture on arrival, unexpected delivery, and lack of responsiveness. They also hired yet another party to deliver, charged more for a uhaul to be used and sent skinny men who were obnoxious aggressive and spoke no English to dump our stuff in our home and refuse to take the packing materials with them. We STILL have not received our money back for a second stop delivery service we did not use bc the delivery men were inept. They have been completely unhelpful in repairs of damages, and refund. Do not use this company.”

What was originally supposed to be $1,400 to pack, move, and unpack my one bedroom apartment ended up costing me $3,200 with random fees that they would spring on me with at the last moment, knowing I did not have time to argue or look for another company to move with. Some extra things they charged me for: $1,100 extra because they claimed I had more “stuff” than I had originally told them I had (which isn’t true, I came from a 500 sq ft apartment with no appliances). & another $500 just to unload my belongings into my new apartment which was supposed to be included. If I did not pay, they would not give me my things. Not to mention they were a week late delivering my belongings. And even with me paying over double the amount they originally quoted me, they were still rude and unprofessional every time I called with questions. Beware!!!”

My experience with Purple Heart was absolutely terrible and would never recommend them. From the start, they never told me they were a broker which isn’t that big of a deal to me. As my move date approached, Purple Heart called to do their quality assurance. I gave Purple Heart Moving Group the exact number of boxes (and sizes) and the all the furniture that needed to be moved. I verified with the QA representative that that size of our boxes were the industry norm in order to get the most accurate estimate. When the move date arrived, the moving company (Black Bear Moving and Storage) arrived over an hour after their scheduled window. Additionally, the moving company did not have all the packing supplies that were needed and had me, personally, go get supplies for them. They also didn’t even know that had to pack china/dishes for us even though it was on the QA estimate. So much for a full service, professional moving company. When the movers went through the house to take inventory, they told me that my estimated cubic feet was way off and that I’d need to get a new estimate from the company before they would move anything. After calling Purple Heart, they said that I need to talk with that moving company about the estimate. So much for customer service. The new estimate was $2,500 more than what was originally provided during the QA. Talk about a bait and switch. I was told that the prior estimate could change if I had more boxes or if my furniture was oversized. After indicating that the boxes and furniture have not changed, I was told that my furniture must be oversized and that I’d have to pay if I wanted the move to occur. I believe my furniture is pretty average sized and I verified with the movers onsite just to make sure I wasn’t being unreasonable. The movers indicated to me that my furniture was nothing out of the ordinary. Purple Heart’s agreement stated that I needed a formal, written estimate for any changes. I’ve never received this. After calling Purple Heart to inquire about this, they informed the moving company onsite about how the estimate wasn’t provided and the moving company immediately stopped loading our items (even though they were 75% done) and said they will not continue to load the truck or move my items unless I paid the increased price. Since we were closing in 2 days, I had to agree so that they would continue packing. I provided drinks and snacks to the movers throughout the day since it was hot. After the loading was over, an employee walked over to our personal items that we set aside and told them not to touch, and grabbed more drinks that we were planning to bring to a Memorial Day bbq without even asking us. Again, talk about being professional. Highly suggest refraining from using this company. As soon as they low-ball you to get you committed, they increase the price and force you to pay the higher price. During the moving process, I was informed that I would receive $450 back since they used less space than what they had estimated. I was told that this would all be taken care of. The day my delivery arrived, I was told by the driver that he wasn’t aware of the $450 discount. I showed the driver emails outlining the discount; however, he said he didn’t care and that he had to collect what was on his paper. I was told to pay the full price and then ask for reimbursement. After saying it was ridiculous to do that, I was told I would be charged for $150 for a delay if they had to wait. Additionally, the driver said another charge would be made for a long-haul since from the truck to where they dropped my items would be longer than 50 ft. I inquired about the long-haul fee being from the truck to the house and the driver replied with “Nope, it’s where we drop it. So if you have a long hallway, it costs more.” Wow… In order to avoid the delay fee and long haul fee, I paid the full price and had the mover drop everything literally just inside my front door. The movers left without reassembling my furniture, which the contract states they will. When notifying Purple Heart, they shrugged it off. They had their money and didn’t care. When submitting for my reimbursement for $450, I was sent back an adjustment form saying I had to give up my rights to sue and I could not post anything online regarding my experience. Nothing like withholding money they owe you until you sign their “hush money” form. So much for a discount based on the cubic feet. Again, stay away from Purple Heart Moving Group and Black Bear Moving and Storage.”
