Founded in October 2009 by owner Chris Barry, a native of Northern Virginia. Chris had been running the company as a side business since 2009 and when he was laid off from his full-time job in that tough economic year. He took his business on full time and he has never looked back. “We’re not literally one guy with one truck any more”; over the years, Chris Barry has assembled a team of experienced movers, all with a minimum of several years’ moving experience.

The crew were polite, efficient, and careful at the destination site (where I was during the move). I cannot comment regarding anything that occurred during the loading phase. However, there was some significant damage at some point in the process. The damage included dents in the door of a compact stainless steel refrigerator, a broken wooden leg on an upholstered easy chair, and a broken caster on a mobil wooden beverage caddy. The refrigerator will require a new door. The caddy will require a completely new bottom. The damage will amount to more than the cost of the move itself. The men were apologetic, but apologies cannot mend damage.”

Worst company ever. where to begin. I confirmed my move twice. Once a few days before and once yesterday. I tried to call them at 8am (my window was 8-10) and their phones wouldn't let my number call. I actually called 15+ times. After two hours I was able to get through on my work phone. After an hour of round and round the owner TEXTED me (three hours after our move time) saying he wasn't coming at all. Great. Then when I said I expect a complimentary move he laughed at me for a while. The owner when he finally called (I had to harass him over text message to call) didn't tell me he was the owner. I said "hello?" And he said "hi this is chris" I said "who are you to the company?" He was so unprofessional. He should have said "Hello this is Chris the owner of Barry's Best Moving" and that cal should have come at 8am. Not by text at 11am. The day we move. Worst company ever. Please Please if you need to move on a specific date do not use this company. It will not go well. I ended up contacting My Guys moving and then came at 8am on the dot the next day. Fast professional and friendly. Couldn’t recommend them more!!! Ask for Sim!!! I did receive my deposit back on a timely manner.”

I recently hired Chris and his crew (Timmy and Gary) to move my mother's many, many things into several of those PODs type containers for a cross country move to California. Man oh man, were we pleased with his work! I found him off of the good reviews from Yelp, but you're never really sure what you're going to get, are ya? Well, Chris showed up right on time with his guys and went straight to work. He was worried we wouldn't get all mom's things into the containers I had ordered, but was determined to try. For six hours he and his guys moved her heavy and nice things up and down three flights of stairs in her townhouse and they did it professionally, with great care and a smile on their faces. Maybe it was the Stevie Wonder I was playing for them, but they were all pro, fun and professional the entire time. This was a stressful move, but Chris made the laborious part almost fun. I'd recommend him and his team to anyone. Small businesses are the best...Chris takes his very seriously and knows his stuff and is clearly proud of the work he does. He should be! When the movers closed the door on the final container, we all cheered and Chris now has a nice picture of me, mom and one of our friends relaxing with a glass of wine - as we were truly satisfied customers!”

They cancelled via text from 703-622-3061. Make no mistake, this company put me in a very awkward situation. Below is the text I received. They did not call or respond back to me after this text. "Hey... I can't make it today" 9:09 AM (the move was scheduled for 11:00AM) Please be careful of this company. They are not reliable and may drop you at the last second.”

This company is THE WORST. Wanton disregard for our property, willful destruction. When we approached the owner Chris about the first couple destroyed items, we were informed that any claims would be subject to a $3500.00 deductible, more than was charged for the move. Things went downhill from there, as he callously brushed off the damage with comments like "you can glue that back together" when confronted with a Ralph Lauren crystal lamp that his crew admitted to dropping. They dragged our eliptical through the mud, jamming dirt under the gliders, and leaving streaks of mud smashed into the carpet of our new house. His idiot crew folded brand new rolls of wrapping paper to shove them into a box. Chris's response? So what? People throw it away after you wrap a present in it anyway… He refused to pay for any damage, and now we are compiling a full list of damaged items with photographic evidence to be presented in court. Beware. If you value your belongings, so not hire these jerks. We are filing suit and a complaint with the BBB.”

I had some old equipment at a storage facility.. cable, ladder rack, cable management, spools, tools, patch panels, UPS, jacks, LAN equipment, racks, not easily moved stuff or stuff in a box. What an awesome experience! In the middle of the pandemic lock down, we were given less than a week to move my father's belongings out of his assisted living apartment. I contacted several movers but Barry's was the only company to schedule me on a very short notice. They were also able to fully comply with the safeguards in place by the assisted living facility. They donned the PPE (personal protective equipment) issued by the facility, packed everything and moved everything. When they arrived at the final destination, they were wearing their own PPE!
