We discussed what the move entailed and were given a quote to complete the relocation. Cecil and an assistant arrived on time in Charolette and immediately began the moving process, disassembling wrapping and packing the furniture for the 1 1/2 drive to Greensboro. The move went very smoothly. The care Austin’s Moving Company took with our daughter’s furniture and belongings was extraordinary, not even a scratch or any marks on the walls. “ We had this company move our one bedroom apartment which was on the third floor. When we spoke with the manager we explained how a different moving company stood us up and he was able to give us a quote and have his guys move us last minute on the day of. The quote he gave us was no more than 300$ for a few hours with 3 men. He told us two men would move the big heavy items and the other would grab the small items. First, let me say we made sure everything was taken apart to make the job alot faster and easier. Including the bed frame and tv stand, things of that sort. Not only that, we placed the majority of the items in the livingroom so really they just had to move from the livingroom and dining room since our apartment wasnt really big. They arrived on time which was perfect. There were 3 men, one really over weight guy who seemed to be in charge and the other was a really young guy, looked to be about 21 and the last guy seemed a little older maybe early 50's....I explained to them I only wanted the fragile items wrapped up and non of the other furniture. Within 15 minutes of the moving they started wrapping all of my furniture, which took an entire 30 minutes. I contacted the manager to tell them to stop because we were in a time frame from the quote that was given to us. By this time everything had been wrapped so I let it go. Now we are in hour two of moving and everything still isn't loaded on the truck...again we put everything in two rooms and we literally didnt have much stuff. The bigger guy complained the entire time about how we were on the third floor, although they knew in advance before arriving. He was very rude and unprofessional. We moved within the same location just around the parking lot to a different building. My boyfriend had to help because they said our furniture was too heavy for 3 guys and they didnt want to arrange our furniture accordingly into putting it in the new place. They ripped our couch in the process and got our mattress extremely dirty from dragging it. They took around 5 hours to move and then tried to charge us over 600$. The manager gave a horrible quote and mislead us. He ended us giving us a tiny discount leaving us paying between 500 and 600$ and we still ended up having to move the rest of the stuff out our old apartment. I would never recommend them to move anyone we know unless they need something done last minute and dont mind wasting money.”

“ Actual loading and unloading of the possessions were positive experiences. Appreciate good service on moving day. However, the business transaction was VERY disappointing and unprofessional. We are a business paying to have new employee moved. We were given an estimate to load previously packed belongings. We agreed to estimate and asked if it was possible to bill. No response. When the movers came to load they decided they had made a mistake and needed another truck. They charged an additional 17% of quote for this truck. Invoice was sent on a Sunday. Nothing mentioned about COD terms. Invoice processed immediately but W9 needed. No response to request for W9. One week later employee is frantically calling saying possessions will not be delivered before invoice paid in full. We were able to accommodate a credit card payment but now additional charges were added and invoice is 21% more than quoted. From undisclosed COD terms to adding additional 21% to estimate without recourse seems very unprofessional.”

“ I decided to hire Austin's Moving Company for my local move after being highly recommended by a property manager from RE Carroll Management. I had several issues with my move in dates and lease, however they were very accommodating and flexible after I changed dates multiple times. I was provided an upfront quote and the prices are very reasonable. I was having furniture disassembled and assembled, boxes and items moved, and large furniture moved from a third floor apartment with no elevator. The new apartment had only one small elevator to relocate the belongings, with no close parking for the truck. It is common sense as a customer to have flexibility with a moving company, so I realized the move may not be as easy as we all wanted it to be. I knew I had to be flexible with the estimated costs. Jerome and Jason provided a courtesy phone call the morning of my move and arrived on time. They worked HARD. Despite how difficult everything was, they maintained professionalism and upbeat attitudes. There was no messing around, everything was safely moved and put back together as they were. Given the circumstances, the move took longer than we anticipated which resulted in more money than was originally estimated- but that's normal and obvious because I saw first hand how much work was being done and how quickly they were trying to get it finished. I was more than pleased with the services and definitely recommend this moving company.”

They gave me a call the morning of my move and offered to send a third person they had on hand and what the cost increase would be, and I'm glad I agreed. “ First let me say that the movers were pleasant and courteous, but if first impressions are true, I should have went with another company. I sold my home and was deploying overseas and needed someone to pack my house hold goods and move them to storage. Mr. Austin quoted a price over the phone but was to come out and provide an estimate to pack, label and move my goods. He missed the first two appointments (he forgot) but I still gave it a chance. Once he came he agreed he could pack the items, label the boxes and move my goods on the date I needed. When his team showed the first day they stayed 2 hours due to another appointment(they did label boxes that day). The second day, same thing. I needed to get this done and it was too late to pick another mover. On Saturday (move day) they came, wrapped furniture threw everything else into boxes as they were in a hurry. They also ran out of boxes. I ended up giving them some items I could not fit into my storage area. I wasn't pleased with the move, and I called Mr. Austin to speak with Mr. Austin about the way my goods were handled and things went, which he said he'd given me a "discount" for and should have charged more. Fast forward to January 2019. I picked up my goods and brought them to my new home. I have furniture broken and scratched, pieces missing, items thrown randomly into boxes that I haven't even been able to locate yet. The foot to my love seat was broken off (with the screw left in it), and the foot was thrown in a box which I found when I opened the box. I'm still trying to find things like tv remotes. Its slow going as since the boxes were not marked, I am having to leave some things undone and get back to them when I can find the pieces. I have a 35 yr old grandfather clock that has pendulums--they threw the pendulums them (they're now broken and bent) in a box with some extension cords and other miscellaneous items. There is tape residue around a 30 year old wall unit. I did purchase full insurance, but I can tell you that I'm thoroughly disgusted and do not care to deal with this company. This is my experience and I felt it was worth informing others who are looking for a mover/packer. I'm ex-military and have moved many times, but this is the worst experience of them all.”
