I am so disgusted with this moving company. They helped me and my mom move 2 times but they now lost my trust. Everything was going fine until we arrived at the new location. The movers spoke Spanish around my mom whenever she asked them to move furniture to another room. One was extremely rude and since I know a little bit of Spanish, I knew what he said and it made me very upset. I didn't say anything because I just wanted them out. My mother asked if I had extra cash on me to give for a tip because she was short by 20 dollars. I know I had 20 dollars in my wallet and right when I opened my wallet to give to the movers it was gone! I accidentally left my purse in the basement while I went upstairs with my mom to make sure everything looked ok. I looked EVERYWHERE for the 20 dollar bill and could not find it. I knew it was in my wallet because I purchased food just before arriving to the new location and I know I saw a 20 in there. I know I should've had my purse on me, and I take this as a lesson learned not to trust movers. I saw them banging furniture on the stair rail and the walls and they scratched up some of my furniture as well. They broke one of my lamps that I had for 6 years and didn't even apologize. Feeling like I was robbed, I was paranoid the whole night fearing some belongings were stolen. I unpacked all of my belongings in 6 hours (right after the movers left) and didn't go to bed until 4am. Thank goodness nothing else was stolen. I trusted this company to help me and my mom move for years and they treated my mom like this. She even bought them lunch and this is the thanks we get. Don't make the same mistake I did and trust this company. This is the worst moving company and I will tell everyone I know never to hire Able!”

Able's crew helped us pack up common areas - carefully and thoroughly - and moved everything from one Dupont Circle office building to another a few blocks away. On the night of our pack up and move, Chris arrived on-site to monitor progress. He arrived on-site at the new office the following morning to ensure all was going smoothly. The crews we worked with (led by Lemont Jeffers) were very professional and thorough and courteous. I used Able about 9 years ago to move me/store my belongings and had no issues. What a difference 9 years makes! Used them again in November to move out/store/move in. The main office staff itself seems disorganized and the group of movers who moved me in were clueless amateurs. They damaged the wall and ceiling with my queen boxspring. They could not get the hutch to my entertainment center around a corner. They wanted to lift it up via my deck. I refused because with their performance and have a cracked deck on my newly constructed home. They dropped my elliptical and cracked it, and I have a scratch around the full circumference of my coffee table in which they will not cover the damages for...because it's within my 100.00 deductible...in which it took them one month to respond. Amateurs!”

If you have an expensive large item to move in your 3 story townhouse then Able Moving & Storage is the company to pick! My new sleep number bed was too big to get up my stairwell to the 3rd floor bedroom. The guys at Able Moving came to my rescue and hoisted my bed, mattress and headboard to the bedroom without a scratch! It was a little pricey but it took 4 guys to do this tricky job so I'm very happy! They were very nice and on time.”

This was worth every penny. Customer service here is high touch and I talked to the service coordinator several times before the actual move date. The crew was SO CAREFUL with our stuff and wrapped everything meticulously (even if I said they didn't have to). They were all friendly and were tolerant of kids getting in the way (without running anyone over!). It was incredibly hot the day we moved and everyone was in good spirits regardless. It was pretty painless overall and I didn't have anything to worry about, which is impressive given how stressful moving is! I still think others should see what happened so here's my original review: My mom hired them to move stuff from my storage unit to our house. They sent 2 adults & 2 kids that looked 16 at the oldest. At one point they put one of my plastic storage bins, which aren't meant to support a lot of weight on top, on the bottom of a dolly, stacked 2 or 3 boxes on top, and then the youngest SAT on top of it until the bin cracked while he laughed. I guess I should have been taking video because that's just completely unacceptable. I was looking right at him. Didn't say a word to me or apologize. That bin had my Christmas ornaments I've had since I was a kid & I'm afraid to even try & open it now. I had 2 large DVD shelves put together but without the shelves in. They decided to either take 1 apart or it fell apart & they just left it in 2 pieces. I found another broken storage bin with a bunch of stuff stacked on top. They also thought it was a good idea to put a storage bag of clothes on the bottom of a stack of 5 big boxes that are now leaning over onto another stack. I can't see everything yet to know what else they did.”

These friendly and totally competent movers never so much as bumped a wall or a corner in our BRAND NEW HOUSE (we were terrified!) As if that wasn't good enough, they were off-the-charts friendly and diligent. They rolled out the red carpet (literally) throughout our old house and then our new one; they covered the carpeted stairs with plastic stuff; and the cheerfully delivered every box and piece of furniture exactly where we wanted them. Great communication and service. I came across Able from a friend's referral. I was stressed out about packing up a 3 bedroom townhouse myself, and moving to a smaller townhouse 5 miles away. I requested an estimate through Yelp about 2 weeks out from my move date. They got back to me the same day and came out for a short, on-site estimate, which was reasonable. The estimator told me exactly what the chargers included and things that could change the cost, like if I were to break down some of the furniture myself. The follow up emails and confirmation calls included everything I needed to know and were clear. The day of the move, the crew called to let me know they were rolling in. The crew of 3 were efficient and took care of the furniture very well (wrapped in their blankets). They were very accommodating and patient helping me get the pieces into the new place. The office called to follow up on my experience for feedback. I couldn't have had a better moving experience!”

I just called them again 5 minutes ago, and left a voice message to a Melissa(?). I texted them via Yelp and their "online chat box" and received an auto text from that "aren't open right now" while your business hours sat Mon-Sat 8a-5p. What kind of alleged customer service is this?? If you don't want to accept new business, you should just say so.”

I called Able Moving because I had 3 great recommendations. The estimator came, next day I got the quote. We set up a packing and loading dates. Then the 4 women packers showed up this morning. My house is 4500sf. In the basement they saw 2 dead mice from my exterminator's traps. They declared my house was unsafe to work and walked out. So the first demand for them to come back was to get an exterminator. Had one. The next demand was I needed to get my house cleaned. It was. Then next they wanted me to organize my stuff. I had 23 boxes in my family roomed used for sorting. My books were organized into sub-categories. I told the estimator this was bullshit and asked for my deposit returned. These women just weren't interested in working. Able Moving isn't even worth the phone call.”

Able did a local move for us this summer. The crew damaged our brand new home during the move. Proper padding, runners, etc were not provided or used. The crew was rude and argumentative when I pointed out the damage (stairs, floor, door jam). I've sent in pictures, notified the office multiple times, and filled out the proper forms but the operations manager still hasn't contacted me. UPDATE: I'm adding stars because the Len from Able contacted me just hours after this review was posted to apologize. A repair person called and is scheduled to come fix the damage.”

Able Moving & Storage packed me up just short of 5 months ago for a journey from Virginia to Hawaii, in crates that went across the country, over the ocean, and to a dock where it sat, exposed to the elements for months due to COVID restrictions. With all that, because the Able crew packed my items so well and so thoughtfully, everything arrived safely, protected, and intact. I am so amazed with each piece that I am unwrapping - all the care they put into my move. They had no idea what my household goods would go through before finally getting to me - and they took an extraordinary amount of care and attention with my items. And more than ever, I see the stark contrast from dealing with the work ethic from other companies. There's a great deal of vulnerability when it comes to moves....strangers coming in to my home, touching my things, and me having to trust the people and the process. They called me and communicated with me from the start. The crew was so absolutely professional and trustworthy. They showed up on time and they were efficient throughout the entire process. I had 3 levels - tons of stairs, and lots of heavy items. I can't thank or praise them enough. With each piece I'm opening I'm singing their praises - so pleased with how they labeled everything so well and this company has quality, sturdy supplies - which made me want to come on Yelp and write a review and highly recommend them for any move/relocation needs. I am so impressed and so very pleased with Able. I had the best experience and I am so grateful to the crew and this company.
