UPDATE: in response to review, customer service reached out and was helpful in addressing our issues and providing a remedy. Updating review accordingly. Company is very responsive until they make a sale (*note that the actual movers were wonderful*) and then there is a steep drop off in communication - radio silence! I was very disappointed with the communication and lack of professionalism with the ops team during our long distance move to Chicago on 8/6-8/8. I have now tried multiple times, with multiple persons, to have a discussion of what went wrong. I was promised return calls and never heard anything, thus the reason for this review. For the expensive price tag of a pack and move, you can find a company that actually responds to your questions and concerns! Our issues were as follows: (1) Not at all proactive with communication. The day before delivery, the company reached out to tell us there was a delay with our delivery. We were understanding and were promised an update between 9-10am the next morning, which we never received. At noon, after calling 10-12 times and trying multiple extensions, I finally reached someone who was able to provide an update. (2) In our agreement, 495 Movers promised us 3-4 delivery persons for unloading in Chicago. This is a main reason we chose 495 movers. However, only 2 movers were at the delivery end of our move. The delivery was late (as described above) and had fewer people than promised so it took well into the evening. We reached out to customer service, and to our sales rep Josh (twice before getting a response!), for a resolution - or at the very least an understanding of why this happened. We were very clear with our concerns. Josh promised a response from him or someone else at the company the next day. 4 days later, still haven't heard a peep.

Then moving and storing our furniture (again not originally planned) while our new place was renovated. Then 495 finally moved us seamlessly into our new home in record time- again getting four movers in total with the leader, Gustavo. Then finished in record time and everything was placed where asked and also sometimes second moves were necessary. Moti, the owner, is caring and professional. He is involved from the beginning with providing an estimate. Luckily Moti suggested another mover as well as helping with packing at the last minute of our first move for staging our home. Tom is an excellent coordinator and always emphathetic, quick thinking and professional. The absolute best movers I've used! They are the most pleasant and professional movers I've ever encountered. They wrap all of your furniture so thoroughly, you'd think they were moving their own prized pieces. Anything that you haven't packed at the time they arrive, gets packed. Well. And labeled. Another incredible benefit to using 495 is that you can get all the packing supplies you need from their warehouse for no extra charge. Boxes of all shapes and sizes, tape, newsprint for wrapping delicate items -- all of it. No. Extra. Charge. My first move with 495 was an easy one. I only had a few pieces, but they were challenging to move and were valuable to me. They handled it with ease and professionalism. My second move was much more challenging, and is the reason I would recommend them to anyone. The move took twice as long as estimated (through no fault of 495). While the move stretched on hour after hour beyond the estimated time, the crew never considered cutting corners to save time. They continued on with their meticulous attention to detail. They also all maintained incredibly positive attitudes and excellent customer service throughout the entire move. This was particularly impressive at 1:30am, in the 12th hour of the move, when they elected to execute a heroic maneuver to get my oversized couch into my new home. I will use 495 for every move (as long as they'll answer my calls, lol). It's like having your family and friends help you move, if your family were professional movers.

Very disappointed with 495 movers!!! BEWARE - they are a SCAM. I urge you to not use them. We had movers already scheduled for our mover, but after doing additional research I got nervous by the movers we had selected. This is when I saw the great reviews for 495 movers. I called them and spoke to Josh. Josh said they would be an in-person quote for our move, which the other movers did not do. He explained to me that by doing this it would provide us with a realistic quote because others movers constantly come in over their quotes resulting in the customer paying more than they thought. This all sounded reasonable to me (boy was I wrong). Moti came and did the in-person estimate with my husband. My husband walked him all over our house to include the garage and shed. Moti kept saying to my husband over and over that our house "would be an easy move." He told my husband they would need two trucks. They sent the estimate, which was double of what we would pay with the mover we had scheduled. However, in talking to Josh he explained how they would wrap and protect our belongings and take full inventory. We decided to go with 495 movers especially since they had to move us out, store our stuff for a week, and then deliver it to our new house, and we thought paying the extra would give us comfort on the moving day. The morning of our move got off to a bad start when they only brought one truck and the movers said we would need two. We called back to the office and they said the quote was only based on one truck and for two we would have to pay more per hour. We had a back and forth with the office especially since Moti, their boss, told us we would need two at the time of the estimate. They finally brought another truck. It took them 12 hours to move the stuff out of our old house. This is MUCH longer than they had estimated. We have three small children and two dogs, and it was very hard and complicated having doing the logistics. Thank goodness for good friends and family when the movers took hours longer than they had predicted. The actual guys doing the move I have no complaint with. It was hot and they were hustling! They were nice and friendly and I do appreciate their hard work. When we called back to discuss how they were already close to the estimate, Josh said not to worry and when they drop the stuff at our new house in a week we would work something out and to CALL him when we go to pay. For the move into the new house, I confirmed FOUR times with 495 movers that they would be there between 1030 and 1100, as we settled that morning at 930. They called at 0745 in the morning and said they were about to leave. I, again, reminded them we had a confirmed time and they could not come earlier. 495 movers decided then to put them on a new job and they did not get to our house until after 1pm. When we called OVER AND OVER again on why they were late, no one could tell us. One of the reps even admitted that they screwed up. So....when they FINALLY get to our house, it then takes them another 8 hours to move us in. It is dark now by the time they get done and, again, we have three small children. They broke a crib, despite all the hours wrapping, and we are missing the tiles for two outside tables. When it comes to payment time, Josh cannot be reached. Luis talks to my husband and has to call Moti (what a crap show!) and they decide to only take off $250 but to call the next day and we would work something more out (see a pattern?) They are now over 1K+ their estimate. The estimate Josh and Moti assured us would be correct. My husband tired and holding our crying baby, paid them. We called the next day....no answer. We left messages, no call back. I put a stop on the check. The next day and the day after, we called and called. Finally, they return our call 4 days later. They tell us that the guys worked those hours and we need to pay them. However, they were the ones that royally messed up our move! We decided to pay them, but $1155 over the estimate. They made our move SO much more stressful than it had to be. I could not believe by going through these movers and agreeing to pau double what the other company quoted us, we would have such a horrible experience. I urge you all NOT to believe the good reviews as they are likely false and hold this company accountable by not giving them your business.

We were moving a relative to the Rockville area from NJ so decided to use a local mover. I was impressed by how Josh handled the call and just decided to go with 495 Movers on a hunch. They handled the insurance and scheduling promptly and correctly. And the guys they sent, Santo and Rodi, were GREAT! They showed up on time at both ends and were incredibly professional, patient, obliging, and quick. When a couple of times we mistakenly let them move some items onto the truck that were to be left behind -- no problem or attitude; they moved them back out right away and kept going. Our estimate of how much we were moving was pretty far off the mark, it turned out. They said that they would have brought a bigger truck. When these two were finished, there was -- no exaggeration -- probably an inch or two between the stuff and the back doors of the truck. I DO NOT KNOW HOW THEY DID IT. It was like a giant puzzle that they put together with no false moves. And they provided plenty of packing material for us to do some of our own packing. I was told (by a professional organizer) that an IKEA unit we had would probably not survive the trip. It did. They reinstalled it, too. They took apart and put back together a table. They got heavy, awkward pieces out without a hitch. I cannot say enough good things about how they made a potentially horrible experience as easy as possible. Highly, highly recommended.

I worked with Eugene and Tom - both were super responsive and professional throughout the process. I was a little wary of using a local mover for such a long move, but I'm happy that I did. The movers that came on moving day were very thorough and fast! I read a lot of horror stories about things being broken, missing, etc. on the delivery day, but not a thing was missing, and I only had one or two broken dishes. Not bad for such a long haul (and more a reflection of my poor packing than their handling). I highly recommend them!

However, there was an issue in the handling of the financial transaction after the move, which resulted in an increased charge. Although it took a little while to get a full explanation of the increased charge, coupled with the intervention of the company owner, the matter did get fully rectified to my complete satisfaction. Wow! I'll lead with that. After looking for movers we settled on this company. They arrived promptly and ready to move. I was amazed at the attention to detail they took in ensuring our belongings wasn't just moved, but carefully protected. The ABSOLUTE WORST experience with this moving company! First, I received a quote from Eugene (HIGHLY OVERPRICED compared to other moving companies who have done a far better job), and he stated both over the phone and in writing via email that I could divide the payment in half because I had two moves. The first half would be due after the first move and the second half due after the second move. NOT SO. HE LIED. The ENTIRE amount was charged to me after the first move because he stated that I had more stuff to move than what I originally stated when receiving the quote. Again, NOT TRUE. What he intentionally left out was that each furniture piece that could be broken down into a smaller piece would actually be broken down and individually wrapped. VERY TIME CONSUMING AND FORCIBLY RUNNING UP THE CLOCK, TAKING LONGER THAN IT SHOULD HAVE. So, clearly, that would make it seem like I had more than I originally stated because each piece of furniture that was broken down took additional time to actually break down, individually wrap, and load on the truck. When we got to the storage unit, the movers unloaded my items for storage at the. I was told that that particular location was where I could pick up my items from storage when need be. ANOTHER LIE. On the day when I came to pick up my items at the original location, I was told that my items had been moved to another location WITHOUT MY CONSENT OR KNOWLEDGE. The AUDACITY! How dare this moving company move my stuff without informing me at the very least. This resulted in MISSING ITEMS that I have yet to recover! When going through the checklist to account for items retrieved from storage, one of the movers and I noticed that two items were unaccounted for. I asked him where my two items were, and he could not tell me. He proceeded to speak to one of the movers in Spanish and then proceeded to check off the items on the checklist, AS IF I had retrieved them from storage. When I confronted the mover as to why he was checking off items that were still missing, he stated that the mover he was speaking to told him that he saw the items go on the truck. ANOTHER LIE! IF THEY WERE ALREADY ON THE TRUCK, THEY WOULD HAVE ALREADY BEEN MARKED OFF ON THE CHECKLIST! UNBELIEVABLE!!! Not to mention that during this entire process, the Supervisor of the 495 movers was there arguing back and forth with me about the new movers that I hired, and the fact that they (495 movers) lost two of my items. I asked to speak to his Supervisor (yes, the Supervisor's Supervisor) and he refused. I have emailed SEVERAL times, requesting to speak to the CEO/owner of the company, and to this very day, I have not heard back. I will NEVER put my items into the hands of this company again, and I strongly discourage anyone else from using their services.

We used 495 movers for our move from a DC rowhouse to a single family home in Northern VA. I really appreciated how professional, responsive, and efficient they were from beginning to end. They sent a rep. out to the house who assessed what needed to be moved. He wore a mask the whole time and did not touch anything. I was super nervous about a cross country move during COVID, and I wouldn't be there in person to receive my items. 495 made everything so easy. From our sales guy FaceTiming with us to do a tour of the house for a price estimate, the pick-up crew wore their masks and was so careful and respectful of our stuff, customer service was responsive when I called to ask about arrival time, and the drop-off crew was careful and really wanted to help us get our new home set up. The final cost was more than the estimate, but I think this is pretty standard and I trust that it was just because we had more stuff than they originally estimated. Would definitely use them again and recommend!

I just hired this company to move my stuff from Baltimore to Boston. All I can say is please PLEASE stay away from this moving company at all costs. First, the customer service is atrocious. I was told if I paid $1500 extra they would move all my belongings that same day and that the movers would be at my place at 7AM. The movers did not arrive until 8AM (with no call) and then did NOT move my stuff the same day but the DAY AFTER, When asked politely when I can expect the movers to be in Boston I was told twice by two different customer service reps I would receive a call with an answer by the end of the day which I did not. This caused me to have to reschedule the move in date with my new apartment in Boston which was a HUGE mess. The worst part of it was the movers were clumsy and careless with my items. The way the packaged things to how they moved them was not professional or done with care. Also, all the movers used MY tiny bathroom and left poop skid marks in my new bathroom and dirt everywhere. I am laughing because its the only thing keeping me from CRYING at this point (lol). This moving experience has been a total nightmare. Also please see attached for my BROKEN TV. I'm only getting it partially refunded but I still need to pay for someone to discard my broken tv. Use 495 movers at your own risk.

495 is a professional company. They picked up and delivered goods when scheduled, and delivered on the earlier side of their estimated window 1500 miles away. Big plus. While the packing order left a little something to be desired, the two moving men were of good-nature about moving some of the out-of-order items to another storage room I had on the same lot. It was hot and there was some grumbling, but they nevertheless did what was required and the experience was successful overall. I have had a few bad experiences with other movers. I am happy to report that 495 was a very good experience. I would use them again. That says a lot.
